Countdown 2013; New Years Eve

The countdown is on, as we soon will raise our glass and toast the new year!
The tide is rolling in to say so long to a year that has seen much, recently too much horror and tragedy etched into our hearts and minds, too much ugliness and hatred that will take hard work, and intention to heal and courage to be better than we have ever been to stand united.
As we put a close to 2012 and millions gather in Times Square to watch that magical ball drop, along and joined with millions more watching from the comforts of their homes; we will listen to music, gather with friends or alone in our homes and see the joy, the wonder, the absolute amazement of those gathered in mass.
That ball will drop differently somehow without Dick Clark to tell us of the magic, the wonder, the brilliance of the last year and all that goes into making it happen once again. I can bet we will see a grand tribute to Dick, once again that man we have all watched on Band Stand and in front of the screen as he ushered in the New Year for so long and so many years as that ball dropped and took us around the globe with the celebrations and the music.
Ryan Seacrest has big shoes to fill and quite an amazing career ...
That remarkable ball that drops down the 141 foot flagpole; its 288 crystals that shine and make us all "oooh awww" as we stare mesmerized at it... can you even imagine what goes into making all that happen? This year the crystals have doves etched in them with the hope in their message of
"LET THERE BE PEACE"
and oh how I pray that each of the million people around the world watching that take it into their hearts, minds and souls as a mantra for 2013.
The time has never been stronger or more important or more needed as a country and as a world for peace, compassion and kindness.
My resolution this year is rather simple;
it is to Pay It Forward and to enhance kindness and compassion, beginning with me.

Millions will make those resolutions to go on diets, to do things differently, to lose 39 pounds in 41 days; to save money better than the year past, to stop drinking or eat certain foods, and we will hear of the struggle to maintain or get started in all the high stakes of promises made to self and others.
What are your resolutions or do you even make one or more ?
I hope you will be kind to you.
Some will dance in the streets while others dance in living rooms and still others will gather in favored establishments and celebrate the joys of this momentous time in history where that clock strikes 12 and the New Year and new beginnings take hold.
Oh 2013
how we welcome you and your promise of better days we have not yet imagined to be ours.
All around the world all around our USA there will be dancing in the streets, there will be gatherings, there will be celebrations of great music and events to celebrate the turning of this 2012 into a NEW YEAR!
That spells Hope to me, it screams of folks being together and in Unity, and we can do that every single day if we want it bad enough.
That ball is going to drop, and this year once again it will be splendid, it will evoke anticipation and great joy for not just the ones physically present, but also the ones who are watching TV's all across the world as they tune in to be a part of something larger than themselves.
The countdown has begun, and folks are gathering ...
Are you ready?
New Years Eve here has left us shaking our heads, thinking that the last of the 2012 is getting out of the systems of "things that can frazzle"; first the computer decides to just not work, followed by an outlet that has just blown appliances out and will not be tripped back into working, followed by the coffee maker this morning that will make the coffee and allow us to pour it "cold".
Yep it would seem that the last day of the year is allowing us to test the "do I sweat the small stuff mode" or just figure it is the last glitches of 2012 hitting all at once!  Here's to a New Year, to renewed thoughts, feelings, restored health, prosperity and Hope in healing for all.
...
May your outlets be working, your computers be fine, your coffee be hot, and your moods be bright as you now move into the jazz, blessings and razzle of the promise of
2013 and all that is yet to come!
How bout those Washington Redskins getting to the playoffs after last night for the first time since 1999? Way to go Washington, they are playing "old school" football!
...
Wherever you are and whatever you are doing,
I wish you enough.
If you are out there tonight celebrating this New Years Eve,
be certain to hand over your car keys and call the free   800 number for a ride home.
The life you save may be your own, or someone you have yet to meet and call friend.
DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE.
...
Walk in Beauty,
HAPPY NEW YEAR

Holidays, Travel Plans, Suitcases and just about everything

Some have already taken down the trees, the paper long in the trash, the gifts put away and the trips to where joy and fun times about to end. Those Hallmark moments captured on cameras and phones that go "snap/click" to capture the moment now a memory shared, and laughter or stress of Christmas 2012 filed in the memory banks.
Now folks are wrapping it up, hitting the roads or the airports to head back to their homes, or tidy up and ready themselves for the coming of the New Year.
Resolutions will be made and hopes for a kinder or more gentle year will be held in the hearts of many, yet for others it will be the same ole' same ole.
The fiscal cliff is still hanging precariously, and many think we should just maybe push Congress over the age right before emptying their pockets that is.
Ah it is Saturday, the last Saturday before our New Year of 2013.
The cold moon of last night was quite amazing and it sure was a cold one, you could see your breath with each exhale.
A great time to exhale the negatives, the bad thoughts, and words that somehow still find a way to escape from within during holidays and times of great times.
Holidays still manage to kick off those stress hormones and ways of getting folks riled up it seems; as we watch folks in traffic and zooming through their moments of such precious time.
Finding time and making time, and just enjoying time are all in short supply for so many.
Kamryn and I spent some time yesterday getting his annual hair stylin for his return home to VA by his stylist here named ANGEL.
He looks "fly/fresh/sick" and Angel did an awesome job for his customer from VA.
Kamryn loves it, and will return home with Angel's one of a kind creation once again!
We've had the best of times once again at Christmas, as today we prepare them for their flight tomorrow back to reality of cold weather and soon back to school and Cob/Mom/Dot back to her go and do all over the place at her home!
It will be time to embrace the memories and get back to the doing while holding precious memories of those Hallmark moments shared.
For today?
It's a milkshake sort of day, as we creatively pack them and just enjoy our time, while listening to the sounds that surround.
Wishing you an outstanding weekend wherever you are and whatever you are doing!
May the tinsel continue to shine in your hearts and the taking down of decorations be painless as you settle in and begin to plan for your New Year.
Use caution on the resolutions beginning with the ones that include
being good to you, then
Paying it forward!

Time to SHINE on brothers and sisters!

It is YOUR light within that you shine to others, that lights your path, that provides the way for you and all that you meet, greet along the way.
SHINE
Let it SHINE, let it shine, oh let it SHINE

The Day After and thunder rolls

Christmas Eve found the boy busy with the mixer, with measuring 1 1/3 cups, with just making and doing red velvet cupcakes and then the decorating... things were happening!
Concentration and Creativity filled the air, along with the permission granted to EAT all the chocolate chips that fell on the counter in the midst of the decorations and oh what "slips" occurred when that announcement was made by the little chef!
The mission was clear; making cupcakes for the night shift of our local Tarpon Springs Police Dept and Fire Department.
A yearly ritual here in our home, and this year all fell to Kamryn since D'Vante wasn't here with us.
While Christmas movies were on in the background our our illumanaries were lit in the driveway, the bake shop was alive in the kitchen.
The smells were delicious.
And then the presentation of the red velvet cupcakes..
Those chocolate chips ones just too devine to post here as one could gain 20 pounds just by the looking.
The face on the one in uniform who received all?
Priceless as Kamryn handed the tray to her, and said,
"Merry Christmas from our family" on Christmas Eve night!
Home we came via the bayou where those white bags with tea lights lit the waters in memory or honor of loved ones and reflected such amazing beauty on the waters.
Christmas music blaring on the car radio as we pulled into our driveway and returned to the warmth of home to await ole' St Nick together, where we laughed and then took to gaming on devices and enjoyed time spent and the dazzle of tree lights.
Christmas morning found us blessed to be together, the wonders of the morning and smells of the kitchen and candles burning along with the parade, and one kiddo who handed out gifts and the joys of the day.
A basketball, "toe socks", a wool hat with basketballs on it; it's all about the "balling".
It's all about finding the "happy and the joy"
  It's just all about
holiday time and times past and times yet experienced!
I sure hope you have your toes warm today, as those storms have hit and the rains and thunder are rolling here today.
PRAYERS GOING UP for those in the path as we hear of sorrow through tornados and those in the cold lands where snow, ice, and conditions are now developing on this day after Christmas.
May your days be gentle, your hearts be open for compassion, kindness and laughter
and may you
Walk in beauty
today and in your heart always
