Feeling Blessed!

This was my birthday wake up!
"Fire and Ice" with white mountain lilies... my favorites.
Oh I am feeling the blessings, as I opened up my Facebook page with coffee in hand...
The greetings, the messages, the voice mail from cuz Angie and Kamryn singing in my phone just awesome.
His voice sounding as though he was still asleep, and they wondering why I had not answered the phone.
I do believe it was before 7am, so guess I just slept through it, and the 4 leggeds did as well.

I am blessed, to see this day, feel the sun on my face, the wind on my body and the most remarkable of days on this day.

I am thankful to my producer, my wisdom keeper, my mentors, friends and my BFF who has stood beside me through the sun, wind, hail and rain.

Because of you
I am

color me
HAPPY

My wish for all today, is simple:
May you love, laugh, live with enthusiasm, walk in your own shoes, dance always to your own beat.
Do what feels good while doing no harm
but taking no shit.

and for today,
That is all.
Carry on!

Walk tall

I thank YOU all for the lessons, the blessings, the gifts.

Making your own dance

Welcome to Thursday... It's a great day to DANCE, a fine day to listen to some music, make up your own steps and just get your dance on.  Anyone can give you the music, but you have to find your own beat, your own steps, your own "rhythm" as you move through, push through your days.  Dance is good for the body, great for the spirit and the soul. Tappin the feet is as old as time itself, if no music is playing you can always whistle, you can sing, you can hear a tune in your head. Life is just that amazing!

Create the dance that just may be the next new trend, just remember where you are when you start "twerking" as we all know and most have seen what can happen when that happens!  Dancing, as old as time itself... It just feels good.

We can all enjoy a good dance, a dance with the broom, with the vacuum, out on a night on the town and with a partner. Who am I kidding? We all have probably sat somewhere and gotten great laughs watching those that dance with wild abandon on dance floors over time, or wished we had the nerve to join in, or... have joined in and danced not caring who was watching! Dancing is great exercise, super for the nervous system, and I don't have to mention a great weight loss idea as the pounds seem to fall on the floor. We've all seen that happen on shows on t.v. as the stars drop pounds while competing on shows. Kirstie Alley comes to mind when on that show Dancing with The Stars, although I still have trouble believing the reports she dropped to a size 6.  But folks on that show sure do learn some fine steps along the way!

Dancing even in wheelchairs is great for the spirit, seeing little ones take to the ballroom floor with grace and enthusiasm shows the spirit of movement and the love of music. Seeing Elders tap their feet and sway their bodies reminds us that we are never too old to move it, to be moved by it, to enjoy the fluidity of rhythm and the sounds that somehow fill us up. The sound of music that has a way of making our bodies move without our awareness as it touches us in a place where there is no place space or time.

The dance lies within everyone that has a heart. It knows no time, no distance, no limits unless we limit ourselves. There are some that think as I do, age only matters if you are a cheese, a wine or scotch. This short video rather proves that point. Dance on!

Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, I hope the music is playing, your toes are tapping, and that you don't really care who is watching. Find your steps, get your Dance ON...

Enjoy!

NOPE task force will gather Oct 24th for a candle light vigil

The Korabek Family will be at the
7th Annual Candle Lighting Vigil of NOPE October 24th 7pm.

Landon Korabek gone too soon,
his Mom Susan will be telling his story as so many gather together lighting a candle for those they have lost as they gather tomorrow evening to raise awareness, to remember those who have died needlessly.

Landon Korabek, loved by so many, missed everyday, gone too soon.
Just a kid out for a good time, a great evening, returning home to have a conversation with his Dad before hitting the sack... Never to wake up. Who would have thought this could possibly happen to a good kid, a kid with a great family, great foundation, just out with his pals for a fun time?

It only takes one time... one bad decision, one mistake or bad choice.

October 24th at 7pm, Landon's Mom will find all the strength within her to walk on a stage in front of thousands, to find her voice and to tell the story that most cannot imagine. The story of walking into her son's room to wake him with her husband Greg. The morning when their world was forever changed.
She is now a woman on a mission, the mission is to educate, to make others aware of the very real dangers of narcotic overdoses, of synthetic drugs and of the consequences of their behaviors and choices. Landon's memory, his death is being used as an example to others, for kids and parents alike to wake up, to stand up in involvement and action. I applaud and admire her walk. It is not an easy one.

We must continue to educate, to make aware to others the very real issues at hand. NOPE is doing a great job in the communities, in the schools. People must be aware of the drugs that are killing others. Awareness is key to understanding.

The 5th Annual NOPE Candlelight Vigil this Thursday (Oct 24th) at 7 p.m. at Largo Central Park, Largo FL. Please join us as we light a candle in memory of Landon and too many others who have lost their lives to overdose and as we continue to shine a light on this epidemic in our community.

Join us, light a candle for Landon, for those you may know who have lost their life to drugs as you remember. Sit your kids/grand-kids down for that conversation. Make the hard decisions to stand UP when you need to for interventions and ask for help.

Move it...however you can, it's energy!

These two beauties are having the best of times all the time at the YMCA in Pulaski County Virginia... Hitting that water, listening to their lovely drill Sargent of an instructor as they work through their moves (when they are not laughing, cutting up and causing a great stir in the waters). Life is good today as Dot/Mom/Cob and her buddy Miss Nora who is in her 90's take to the water weekly or several times a week and get their moves on.  Move it or lose it is the theme there; a place to gather, people to be with, times well spent as community is alive in well in a small town in Southwest Virginia.

Energy is fluid, the power of connections keeps people connected in times of wireless connections, distance and lack of compassion. At that YMCA that has struggled for funding, has seen the economy struggle as they wondered at times if they could keep the doors open, the faithful in the community have let their voices be heard. They gather; men and women together in a caring community to work their bodies, their souls their commitment to something greater than self for the greater good of community. In the process of all, they have FUN... what could be better? If someone is ill, doesn't show up, they are like CSI, and investigate, they show up at the door to help, to visit, to do what is needed for each other as days of old in communities where one extends to another as part of daily comings and goings.

Amazing grace in daily laps and steps along the way.

To think, in a world that we hear mostly the horrid, the bad, the worry and fear... today or tomorrow, folks will get up in chilly weather and just gather at their local YMCA... in bathing suits and hit the water, laugh like they are teenagers up to mischief (they probably are), stretch their bodies, learn to swim or pick up those weights under water and give each other hell about the last Hardees' biscuit they ate.... Life is a grand gift opened each day when compassion, fun overrides everything else.

Yes of course, there are those who are stuck in the rear view mirror of their lives, the same loop of the story, the news of the day, the fears of the tomorrows... yes there are bad things in the world the boogy man around the corner or lurking under the bed.

BUT

there is also the moment we call NOW, the ability to do what you want when you want if you want in your way however you may.
There is the ability to filter out what you do not feel serves you well, to burn the old tapes that loop yet do not serve you anymore and to take charge of your thoughts, your feelings your way of doing things.

YOU are the captain of your ship, only you can sail it, only you can loosen the ropes that hold it to the dock if you choose to.

Make the leap, take the splash, enjoy the waters if only in your mind... Live life wide open, laugh so hard it makes your sides ache, numbs your face as your smile outshines the sun on the brightest of days within you.

Then you will notice the change from within. You have all you need, the light that burns from within you will shine light for another, and the community will be richer as a result of it.

Prayers going up for those in Nevada at the Sparks school shooting and the Veteran who survived war, but died protecting his students. May they find peace there, another tragedy ...

Our hearts surround all there.

Monday thoughts on Mattresses!

It is amazing to me the number of beds available to consumers. The continued ads we see of mattresses that will give the "perfect sleep", those that are so great for the backs, great for a super night sleep assuring us we will wake fresh and ready to conquer the world. Then I meet folks around the country where the majority of them tell me they do not sleep well at night. The stress of their lives prevent them from sleeping, their brains jump out and on to the next pillow about the same time they are ready for slumber.  It is only this morning I do believe I have figured part of this out...
It may just be the mattresses folks are sleeping (or not sleeping on) that is the biggest part of the problem!
As we are surrounded by ads, by those in the mattress specialty enticing us to lay on this one and that one, to try out the comfort of firm, medium, soft mattresses for a few minutes before purchasing ... to try them on if you will for comfort before buying as they tell us how great our lives will be once we start sleeping again... They make the offer for the "set" yet fail to tell us, or remind us that houses are built on SOLID foundations.

That solid foundation turns out to be the frame and box spring! I met a delightful woman at Mattress Firm... YES right here in Tarpon Springs, and boy did she know her stuff! A deep and comfortable mattress that we lay on has to sit on something... It sits on box springs that rest on the frame. Without those two being sturdy, being solid that mattress will ultimately not do what it is intended to do! When getting that mattress, be sure above all else to get a box spring that is STEEL, nothing less will do! No cardboard tops or wood, just steel. A strong and sturdy box spring will give the foundation that mattress needs to give you comfort, and sleep!  So today, I give great props to Mattress FIRM of Tarpon Springs!!!

Folks fail to tell the consumer that, for fear they will not spend and extra $50-100. for the upgrade. What happens next is that over time, (6 months to a year), the results become less than what is hoped for.

Yes, people do not know what they do not know. Count me as one of them.

But, this time it was a great learning curve as all of a sudden the mattress began to "creak", in places a mattress shouldn't creak. As I sat on the edge to put on shoes thinking I had lost my mind, wondering what in the world where in the world was the sound coming from!
The comfort was not as comfortable in ways that I could not quite explain.

A trip to the store with a description allowed the kind woman to do the paperwork on the warranty, just like that, painlessly. A young man shows up to take a photo of the bed, to measure the comfortable top mattress as he tells me  he visits home everyday with box springs just like that, all of them being junk.

Bottom line? Within a couple of weeks a letter arrives, I go to the store to upgrade to an all steel box spring while asking the kind lady why in the world folks don't explain these things. Here reply? "Well I always do, but customers do not like upgrading no matter the cost!"

Upgrade me upgrade me... A house cannot be built on an unstable  foundation. People need to sleep well in order to function at their finest.

So just maybe those who do not sleep well, are not sleeping on a bed with a good foundation... YOU are worth it, check it out be sure that your frame is solid, your box springs are steel before you go and put that mattress on top.

.................

OPEN UP, now the the shutdown is well what is it, done? #DowntheHallway they went!

SIGH OF RELIEF
LAUGH ON
It's good for us!
Laughter is good for the soul, great for the body, the nervous system, the brain. It just about beats anything I know in any given day to adjust the body/mind/spirit connection... so no more about politics, pissing contests now that those bladders on the hill must be empty and they have struck a deal to get us through the holidays until the bladders are full again... We are wiser now, more astute, WE THE PEOPLE have learned more in the last months about attempts at keeping us fearful than we have ever known before. Games/politics/attempts at holding us hostage, keeping folks out of open air memorials that honor and pay tribute to the fallen. We will not fall for it come January, how those in power vote determine our votes.

So for now, I suggest that we embrace the coming winter months with LAUGHTER, with an attitude of great gratitude of all that is within each of us. AS we do that, as the sounds of our raucous laughter fills the air we then will pay it forward to others. It can be its own movement... "the Laughter train > Get on board< or prepare to get infected on the tracks... It is infectious, it is good for the soul or what ails you. We have been fired up, but not necessarily in good ways that feed the soul... Laughter is good medicine. We need good medicine.

May you share it freely with others. Of course they may look at you funny for awhile but that is rather fun as well. Have you ever laughed so hard that you lost your breath? Stomach ached, ribs felt as though they would just cave in or come out in your hands as you grabbed your sides? That is the laughter that I'm talking about!!! Where you just can't sit still laughter, that is the kind of laughter that fills you up and takes you to a place where your brain does not register all the stress we've all been under for months on end.

THAT'S IT!
It's real, it's infectious, it's healing and it's within you. Take care of YOU... Laugh much, live each moment in wonder of the good, smile... It is good for you. Don't worry about the rest, let it take care of itself, while you remember...

Just maybe you will get em good with that radiant smile and the laugh that is heard!

You just never know the impact of a good laugh, a wonderful smile and a walk that is distinctly YOURS.

Shine on as you move through your day with great grace, gratitude, and giggles.
Laughter... just like this (well maybe not just like this, but it was very funny)!

WE ARE THE PEOPLE

WE ARE THE PEOPLE... the very people that have had more than enough.  We are witnessing it on the streets, in the grocery store, in the workplace, in restaurants as we hear what others are talking about. We are seeing it in social media, in what folks are now consumed with. The fears of our brothers, sisters, Mothers, Fathers, is turning to such anger and mistrust that it is appalling.

WE are People first... One Nation of people who are being run by big money, by greed, but mostly by EGO of those in power who continue to toy with our lives in their pissing contests as they "alter" bills, rules, governance that affect everyone in this Nation but those we elected.

Yes, WE the People are the people, and they #Congress #WhiteHouse #Senate #House are hoping we have forgotten who we are.  The blood of our veterans have fought for our very freedoms of this country, this the greatest Nation in the world is now being watched all over the world as a select few determine the lives of the Nation.  As those who wait worry fret over making mortgage payments, ability to choose are being held hostage, they are sitting and changing the language that could have ended this shutdown. We have seen them smile, watched them as they maintain their calmness while the rest of the Nation suffers sleepless nights.  They probably have eaten at the Old Ebbitt Grill or had cocktails together between sessions as millions wonder how they will save their homes, feed their children or get the medicine that is necessary to maintain their health.

The President himself might be playing golf as the first Lady wonders about the cut of her assistants... Assistants?

WE THE PEOPLE are wondering if we can keep on keeping on and others are wondering about assistants to make life more comfortable?

What do they think about outside of self I have to wonder? The next vacation? The next holiday or stand off between party lines. After all soon it will be the holidays, the next crisis will be postponed until after January as the People will struggle. Will WE THE PEOPLE be able to stop paying taxes since the IRS is part of the shutdown...

Will WE THE PEOPLE be able to take the luxury vacations of the senate, house, congress enjoying the best of the best, sipping the finest of the fine?

When will it end? Is it the worst of times as a result of more technology, greater access to information sharing and mass uprising and upset?

Is it that people are focusing on the awful, forgetting to embrace the good?

What is it?

WE THE PEOPLE are the people, the very people who can and will stand united in the face of the unknown, the face of fears and egos that have gone absolutely insane on the Hill.

We will once again remind them all it is past time for them ALL TO GO and for us to decide we demand more for our lives.

Veterans denied access to open air memorials along with all citizens of this country? Has someone or many someone's lost their ever loving minds as barricades are placed to inconvenience so many who have come to pay tribute and honor of the fallen.

WE ARE THE PEOPLE
and I ask you to never forget who you are... to always remember to give more time to the good that lives within you than the bad that seems to be surrounding those outside of you.

YOU are your most important resource. With positive actions, through emails, phone calls YOU can let your voice be heard. With kindness to your fellow brothers and sisters you can shine your light for others to grab hold of.

WE ARE THE PEOPLE.

The very people that have made this Nation the greatest in the world through times of great sadness, great wars, great tragedies...

I believe that this too shall pass as America lets those now having Ego battles learn that WE THE PEOPLE have no respect for what they are doing, that we have no tolerance for their attempt at using us as a pawn in their games, their hatred of each others parties line.

WE deserve better. They are bitter men of little integrity. It is time for them to go.

WE THE PEOPLE HAVE HAD MORE THAN ENOUGH.

rant over.

Carry on

Tuesday in all her glory #DownTheHallway

One would think I was lost #DownTheHallway today as I have spent the biggest part of the day trying to get on this blog... seems they have once again googlized things around so that I could not find my way! It is truly amazing that we all have as Dr. Seuss so wisely says brains in our heads, yet we are fed a daily diet of changes beyond our own control...

Lest I piss anyone off I will not even dare to talk about the #Shutdown or the #WhiteHouse #Senate #Congress #House or #Politics... enough other people are doing that and stirring in the over boiling shit pot of government now, that is in effect affecting AMERICANS everywhere.

Is that not enough? Do we really need the weekly or monthly changes on yahoo, google and Facebook as well? Just when we think we know what we are doing, everything changes once again.

Somedays it would make a person thing that someone somewhere with far too much money truly enjoys all of this fear, anger, uprising over things as simple as fonts changing, to trying to shut down or barricade open air Memorials paid for with the blood of soldiers and the tears of the families, friends, and those who walk this soil as America in honor along with remembrance.

Rant over.

Well maybe not,

where has the common sense gone? When America decides to stand only to be joined by thirsty politicians using the stand for their agendas and air time to further their causes or votes or fame in the moment....
Really now, enough is enough.

It is time for the pissing contests to end and for the ones who were "elected" to do their jobs, to shut up and just work 40 - 80 hours a week and get it done. People are weary now, they are about as angry as folks can get. Tired of not being able to trust, tired of wondering if they will pay the note on their home, feed themselves, clothe themselves or be able to fill the tank while fat cats are sipping bourbon lighting the cigar on the Hill.

Take it to the ring, roll up your expensive sleeves on those shirts and duke it out, but not at the expense of hard working people. Speaking of people; I refuse to believe that the harsh, hateful things that folks say about each other based on their votes, or party lines, color or creed will divide them in humanity.

If we do not stand together now ... we are destined to fall for bullshit or be run over in the process of those who refuse to bend like the willow for the greater good of all.

How they vote will indeed determine my vote.

And folks wonder why the expression "go postal" came to be, and still is a threat in our country... As other countries watch us, probably laughing at us. As Queen Elisabeth is probably shaking her royal head wondering what in the world has happened over here... so am I.

where has our kindness gone? where has our humanity and spine gone.

Where has WE THE PEOPLE meaning all of us taken off to that we now feel such fear, such ugliness.

Are we going to now turn into our worst selves as we question each other with the same questioning we are now having of the news media, the people in our government...

When are we going to stand in Unity once again as AMERICA.

It is past time.

I wish you enough to stand remembering
Our colors do not run
the good must always outweigh the bad
within and in all ways for we are the people that our the legacy of the fallen...
This is our AMERICA
