Speaking of Children

The same teacher that is trying to label
5 year old
also said:
"He makes odd eye movements"
PARENTS, GRANDPARENTS, EVERYONE WHO IS AN ADULT:
STAND UP FOR OUR CHILDREN;
THEY ARE BUT CHILDREN,
PRECIOUS LITTLE CHILDREN, THEY ARE JUST LEARNING
TEACH THEM, PLAY WITH THEM,
THANK THE CREATOR
FOR THEM and FOR YOU .
VALUE THEM
TREASURE THEM AND THEIR CREATIVITY
THEIR "WACKINESS" AND WONDER
STOMP

Imagine what THAT school or THAT teacher
 would think
of Godson Kamryn in this picture above!

Good and beautiful fall morning dear sky, my you are still dark up there!
Coffee is just yummy, 4 leggeds up and ready for a party.
ZOOM, ZOOM, ZOOM
around the pool in the dark,
it's NASCAR... from my limited vision they are awfully close to the edge of that there pool I'm thinking ~

Now back to the children:
I must tell you if this young and inexperienced teacher of doing assessments on children around here had said some of the things about Kamryn that have been said about a 5 year old,
I would have used my own wings just to go up to Virginia
and slap her silly, then might just have to
sit her down and have a long talk!
YOU DO NOT MESS WITH THE GODMOTHERS CHILDREN
YOU DO NOT MESS WITH CHILDREN.
How's that for professional etiquette?

I mean really now; let's let a 5 year old enjoy, create, blow bubbles, and even make some funny faces as they adjust to the world of going to school.
I mean after all it's going to be a long 18 years of schooling right?

Can you guess which one got kicked out of Kindergarden?
Looks like a regular/cute little kids to me
with beautiful normal eyes to me~
STAND UP, FIGHT FOR YOUR CHILDREN
They are perfect in the Creators eyes

NOW
here is the best part of that lousy assessment
that was done:
At the bottom there were two remarkable opportunities for a skilled and professional person to really get to the most valuable and useful information that would actually be helpful and informative not to mention make the parents feel rather safe in knowing their child is in good hands:
`1. What is the most concerning to you about this child?
LEFT BLANK BY THE TEACHER
2. Please describe the BEST THINGS ABOUT THIS CHILD
LEFT BLANK BY THIS TEACHER

Talk about "missed opportunities" on so many levels.
This is where this person could have made a wonderful and telling assessment as well as made parents feel as though there was genuine empathetic caring and desire to make Ari's first experience with education one of fun, desire to learn...
It
"should of been"
"could have been"

"a meeting with one or two people and the parents; one of mutual respect with the focus being on ways to best teach a child, to lean about a child, to determine if there were concerns or areas that need work ...
Great!
BUT
as we can see from the "missed opportunities" as well as the comments of yesterday,
there are those on this page of Warriors who have had similar experiences
those who can remember "back in the day"
of those feelings easily brought into the now
of how they were made to feel by labels
by those in charge.
It is becoming far too easy for others to tell us we have "a problem", to prescribe medications for our children that are suppose to calm them, give them focus, allow them to cope. Hell they haven't had the time to even know what focus is yet and we are altering their brain chemistry with medications... and then we wonder why suicide is so very high in teens? Why are kids going bonkers and carrying guns to school; why are gangs prevalent, why do kids not feel loved, and think they have problems?
BECAUSE SOMEONE TOLD THEM THEY DID THAT IS WHY, and they are not sophisticated enough, bright enough, old enough to believe in their own power and strength yet.
We have strong working parents who love and want the very best for their kids and "trust" the schools and those who work in them. Then they get "blindsided" and lose their faith in "self" and are told their kids have "a problem", and they are scared to death...
And they react with worry and fear.
They forget... that they are their child's' foundation of security, children are keen to feel the energy at home, the fears, the fright brought on by some insane person who feels "powerful" and then
all hell breaks loose.
PARENTS: Breathe... trust your gut.

"Adults are just obsolete children and the hell with them." — Dr. Seuss (and me)

The Children are our future
we each walk with our child, pray and hope for our children; have a child within us,
some have come out to play only recently
others we have to quiet sometimes
and let the "adult" walk around in these days most days!
Other of us
we like to be the child, revel in it always!

Maybe shouldn't wear this to class,
might get thought of as odd to be sure!
Can you just imagine the assessment,
but Kamryn is a SUPER HERO YOU KNOW~

While others who visit here, remember the children
with painful loveliness
the precious children
all
gone too soon

"The LIttle One"
(in Healing Heartaches)

BUT
only a heart beat away, living within us always
where the light may have gone out or seemed to with their all too soon death, those precious children,
but with hard work, restored vision
faith and belief
The Light burns brightly always
and those precious children trust
that we will remember
we will
STOMP
and say their names
keeping their memories and lives alive with each
breath
each time we say their name and remember
that although they were here for a short time
We were BLESSED by the gift of the children.

STAND UP
Take a stand
Let the Kamryn's, the D'Vante's, Olivia's, Duke's, Pony Dancers, Guitar Strummers, Bubble Blowers, and Train Engineers and all the others be children, play, learn, as we teach them right from wrong:
"You can get help from teachers, but you are going to have to learn a lot by yourself, sitting alone in a room." Dr Seuss

Learn, Laugh, be creative, stomp in puddles, squeal delight in each magical thing, strum guitars with chairs, blow bubbles with their mouths when there are no readily available bottles of bubbles...

I mean after all we are talking about kindergarten here, not rocket science, not brain surgery, not just yet anyway ...
Let's start our children out in school by teaching them that they are each unique, teach them to look closely at their fingerprints, have them make their fingerprints on paper with paint and compare them with each other!
Let's tell them how very special they are, teach them the "golden rule"
Learn from them; what they day-dream about and incorporate it into learning ways and fun exploration.
Want labels? Check the inside back collar of their shirts, or their back packs or their tennis shoes...
Label them Precious, Precocious, Plentiful, Beautiful, Trickster, Funny, Cute, Full of themselves.
Teach with intention
Teach with pride
Teach them to believe in self
and in the goodness around them
Foster friendship
STRENGTH
INDEPENDENCE WITH KINDNESS

I've been known to blow bubbles with my mouth and ... well let's just leave it at that,
but
I've also been known to spit
over the side of a boat before, because I could!

Let no one ever ever take away your personal power,
you own the way you feel, so how do you want to feel today?
"CLICK"
Change your focus, change your state... just like that!

"In my world, everyone's a pony and they all eat rainbows and poop butterflies!" — Dr. Seuss

Sure hope this child learns and remembers and has the courage to say that for school!

So
what's new with you beloved readers?
Wherever you are and whatever you are doing,
give it your all,
buy some bubbles at the dollar store and
BLOW, WATCH
be amazed at the power of
YOU

The fire is burning brightly with hope and thoughts on the wind to all mentioned here in prayers, all thought of daily, and all who enter here.
Blessings and fondly I ask that you remember...

Labels and such...

She flew over us
on
Lake Tarpon

Good morning morning... you sure did come early today!
Seems I blinked and here it is Tuesday, still dark
the 4 leggeds still sleeping, the coffee delicious.
So lovely and dark and quiet.

I was thinking about how powerful words and labels are after talking to a beloved dear one last night.
Sometimes labels are great!
For some, it's what they love
Coach, Benz, Lexus, Nike
and the likes

Other times not so great... ADD/ADHD/Clinical Depression/Anxiety Disorder/Mood Disorder/

Folks don't much care for labels when it comes to class, race, culture/tribe/religion/beliefs

I'm not real fond of labels, but particularly not happy with the ways of which some "label" children or adolescents, adults or even animals for that matter.
Seems rather easy to throw a label here or there
and then somehow that does harm in my way of thinking.

IMagine if you will, a little 5 year old, being introduced in the school system, with strangers; adults now telling the little one to go here, do this, sit there. Having to learn to ask to go to the bathroom; eat food that is "yukky" or unfamiliar, and again not be able to question because they don't feel safe.
Learning to play with others for the first time, trying to find the safe place in all of this controlled chaos.
AND
then the "big people" the ones in charge decide on their own that this little one is not doing things quite right in their "professional opinion" so they call the parents in
a mere 3 weeks into the school year.
And in walks not one, but 5 members of a
"interventionist team"
to confront the parents about the
"oddness of a 5 year old"
who now might just fail kindergarten!
Are you kidding me?

He has just been labelled~
Welcome to the world of ridiculous 2010

Parents can't breathe as they listen to the litany of "labels" spewed by the "professionals"
1. he doesn't make frequent eye contact
2. trouble focusing
3. won't eat lunch
4. observed while alone with another teacher who volunteered to take him to her room to get him to eat
*(where were her boundaries, this was not her student)
5. did not eat, (but teacher did not engage him instead typed in computer 3-5 minutes of observation of him)
6. took chair and made believe he was playing guitar
(I think that creative)
7. was blowing bubbles with mouth
 (Again, I think that creative)
8. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE

yEP,
I'm thinking that labels can be good, if you like labels.
They are good for diagnostic codes for billing insurance companies and in order for folks to get reimbursed for services...
Brands are good if you like brands I guess.
5 year olds: have short attention spans folks, they often are finicky eaters, they are wonderfully creative, they know how to blow bubbles with spit, and, they often do not make eye contact!
NOW really...

BUT
When we label children, animals, adults...
we are setting them up.
We are transferring problems to them and those who love them.

And then, someone has to come along and help with a reality check, and the talk must be heart to heart...
No other talk will work.
If lucky,
something will
CLICK
and in a split second
YOU will
reclaim your personal power
Know your truth
Advocate for YOU
for your child
for the animals
for whatever it or who it is that needs someone
to
STAND UP
<>
and so it is good.

So, here's what I'm thinking,
I think this little one should be taught to memorize Dr Seuss and then go to class and repeat the following and see what the team of interventionists have to say:
So here ya go KEA, teach this one to your little one for me:
" In my world I eat rainbows and poop butterflies"
Dr Seuss
Wouldn't that just be a hoot and a holler?

As Maya Angelou has said, and as I try to always remember,

"When someone SHOWS you who they are the first time,
believe them"
and let that help you throughout your life...

Wherever you are and whatever you are doing today,
LOOK UP
Stand UP
for you and for those that matter to YOU

Know your truth, Stand for honor and integrity
Stand for Kindness

Ahhhh, what a feeling

And She
FLEW

Great morning it is~
Fabulous I tell you,
spent Sunday on Lake Tarpon and what a day it was with extended family
Great, I mean off the hook wonderful day.
NOW
are you ready for this?

Went straight across that lake to see the eagles nest, to find it among the lush trees now that fall is here, and decided to drop the ole' anchor
and just the moment I did that and looked up

THERE SHE CAME, TO GREET US
Amazing Grace,
and then took to her regal place on top of the tree to watch over us.

Later on in the day, other boats would come
and the Eagle would "disappear", and once they would grow tired of looking (that didn't take long patience is not easy I think for some)
that Eagle would come back,

Taking flight and this time with another ONE
and the two of them appeared from the trees
and soared high overhead and came toward us
circling overhead not once,
but
THREE TIMES
counterclockwise
and then took positions in the tree,
each proudly displaying those white heads and sitting...
We of course had chills, soar throats from the screams of
"thank you" and waving at them our
appreciation!!!
About the time we would engage in conversation I would let out a
OMG
and there were 3 that took flight,
and then
4
and then
one swooped right in front of us with those magnificent talons touching the waters
as if to let us know
we
"are dancing and blessing you"
and it was like that all day
ALL DAY
for us ~

Eagle teaches us many things and represents more, those who receive gifts from Eagle and Eagle is a reminder of our connection to spirit.

We laughed, we rejoiced in the gifts, we were thankful.
Did I mention... there were 4 of us on that boat?
and we had 4 Eagles who danced, swooped,
circled and were there
for eyes only
on that most amazing day of love
and togetherness?

"A very great vision is needed and the man who has it must follow it as the eagle seeks the deepest blue of the sky.”
- Crazy Horse, Sioux Chief -

Wherever you are, whatever you are doing
I wish you enough
to Look UP
to look around
To always walk
with HOPE
in your Heart
and goodness

The fire is burning brightly today and its embers are hot with thoughts on the winds to all whose names were seen here yesterday and are etched in my heart always.

Fall is here or there somewhere

I'm thinkin this picture was captured by
Sue Mansfeld while she was out there
in the wood of Ely MN
walkin with Bears
and talkin with Lily and HOPE
for the latest and greatest in updates there!

October is here with all of her splendor, it's time for our beloved North American Black bears
to
DEN BABIES DEN

Seems Lily and HOPE haven't found the perfect place yet to call home for the winter and are still on the slow and steady path of "Den Huntin" with Lily doing the work and HOPE just being cute and leaning on her, watching and lending her opinion rather than her "paws"

Have you noticed that it is getting light later in the mornings... and dark earlier in the evening?
I'm not one for the dark months...
brings out the "bear" in me, sort of makes me want to "den" more and go out less.
Not as a result of the "sads", more a result of the warmth of my sanctuary of "home" and the "nestling" "denning" of being "cuddled IN"
And
I will freely admit I do thrive on the sun, the light early and into the night hours... I love me some sun; guess it is good I live in the sunshine state!
Of course another wonderful perk is the warmth, I have already heard from Kelly TwoWolves that it has been 38 degrees in South Dakota ~ BBRrrrrr
nope, just thinkin I stay home!

Thinking today about a conversation I had yesterday and what was really being said... during that conversation.
Are you feeling me here?

I was listening to a woman talk who told me she was reading Healing Heartaches, she had said she wanted to purchase 6 copies, BUT only if they were autographed personally in front of her to each individual she planned to gift them to.

As she spoke of her losses, and she then spoke of the book. The first thing she had to say was that she began the book at the back...
Seems there was a "publisher error" on the run of books and in the beginning of the table of contents for the last chapter it said something like "error" or something, so she was immediately intrigued and so she started there.

That was interesting and pretty funny to me!

She went on to tell me that I needed to tell the editor that they needed to work on the punctuations in the book and over use of the "exclamation points" used.
 Sorry

I got choked on my coffee, and almost fell in the floor
remember
ROTFLMBO

well once I composed myself,  and excused myself...  blew my nose, I said no one did the edits...
I did that with the exclamations... on purpose.

She was rather aghast... I think!
She went on
and told me that she would be happy to do editing for me and then she really got me good...

She said, Dr I don't mind
BUT
Aren't you worried of what YOUR colleagues might think of your punctuations; use of ; instead of ,
and !!!

And that is where I realized she was telling me much more than she was saying...

There is always a message behind the words you read, the words you speak and intention, and really I don't worry about things like that... you know?
After all, why worry?

Anyone, and most people hire editors, work/strive for perfection.
The Navajo woman who weaves those most wonderful rugs, and have done so for generations, will find a way to deliberately put a flaw in their weavings.
It is done and most people never notice it... but it is there as a reminder there is NO perfection in the world of living things.

I will also submit to you that there is no perfection in loss and grief and hope in healing ways, but there is healing intention in the stories of Healing Heartaches.
I chose not to have an editor as I did not want my words to be changed from my storytelling ways... too many have asked that for years I write a book and write the way I speak. What good would it do for another book to be written like all the others!!!

And yes, there is redundancy... but grief is redundant and those who are grieving have to re-read things to let it absorb. Commas, semi colons;
if one is reading my book for grammar and for punctuation and critiques they are missing the messages of hope in healing
they are not reading for intention
and
it is probably not a book they will want to have
and
that is OK
Hell If I worried about my colleagues I would have given up what I did many moons ago~ heehe

It was a valuable conversation for me to listen to and someday will may be valuable for her as well, as she recalls what it was in the book that "mattered" at the time of beginning it...;even if it was the end that was the beginning; : ; ,,,!!!,"; !@#$%^&

Unless you have walked the walk you do not talk the talk
nor do you understand
that you never look at those things
it is in the intention
and the meaning of stories
that your eyes find rest
comfort
safety
intention
mindfulness
HOPE
and
Healing Ways
and
in all of that
YOU
make the choice
something "clicks"!!!

and
you either read it again
or give it away
or want to be an editor

or
buy 24 and gift those to others

By the way... it is all good, after all as the esteemed
Dr Masters said that most remarkable day in Sedona,
"The proof is in the pudding"
and for that I give thanks,
And So It is!

The greatest gifts are the messages, the intention
the mindful purpose of
choice

I wish you enough
to choose
wisely
!!!

To all our relations
I HOPE for you
a spectacular first Saturday of October
in all her glory

Transformation A Legend on this 10/01/10

Ah, the wonder
of
BUtterflies
and the lessons that they teach us
Transformation
10/01/10

Hello October, my time flies... Morning is not yet awake, the darkness is quiet here, the littles are still sleeping as I silently type my thoughts for this day... Yesterday the sun was bright and the day gifted me with a most beautiful butterfly... she danced and danced, performing for me for the longest time... reminding me of the transformation with each graceful dip and swoop across the plants and then high up to the trees; and back for me to admire. I love butterflies ...

That reminds me of a story~ and I HOPE it will fill your heart today ~

Many, many years ago back when the Earth was still quite new, there once lived a beautiful butterfly who lost her mate in battle.

To show her grief, she took off her beautiful wings and wrapped herself in a ashen cocoon. In her sadness, she could not sleep, she could not eat and her relatives kept coming to her lodge to see if she about her.  She grew weary of them asking, she didn't want to be a burden on her people so she gathered her wings and her medicine bundle and went away on a long journey.

She wandered about for many days and months, until  she had gone all around the world.  On her journey she kept her eyes downcast and stepped on each stone she came to as she crossed fields and creeks and streams. There came a time, one day as she was looking down, she happened to notice the stone beneath her feet, and it was so beautiful that it healed her sorrow, almost as if something "clicked" within her right at that moment in time.
She then cast aside her dark cocoon, shook the dust from her wings, and donned them once more.

She was so happy she began to dance to give thanks ~ wadoh~ for another chance to begin her life anew. Then she went home and told The People about her long journey, where she had been, the things at the creek, how it had "clicked" and how it felt to fly differently now with her wings once again, and how it had healed her.

The Legend Continues To This Day...

To this day,The People dance the "Fancy Shawl Dance" as an expression of renewal, transformation and to give thanks for new seasons, new life, and new beginnings.

The shawl in the Fancy Shawl Dance represents the butterfly's wings, the fancy steps and twirls represent the butterfly's style of flight. This is another reason you will sometimes hear the Fancy Shawl Competition Dance referred to as "the butterfly dance", and it is most beautiful to watch and to participate in.

As we approach the dark months, many feel the urge to cocoon now, to den for others like the North American Black Bears... but "click" in a moment, you may want to fold your blanket neatly (cocoon of modern times) and STOMP... be a butterfly and dance, to the sounds of life, the drum of your heart beat and rejoice in the great gratitude that you are alive today...

"The caterpillar dies so the butterfly could be born. And, yet, the caterpillar lives in the butterfly and they are but one. So, when I die, it will be that I have been transformed from the caterpillar of earth to the butterfly of the universe."
{John Harricharan}

The fire is burning brightly with thoughts on the wind for all in our prayer bowl ... and all who gather here, please hold those up in thoughts that you see and know from the names posted here on Sundays' just because you can and choose to ...
For that I give thanks, and so it is !
