tonight taking the field for the last regular season night of

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS

as a Senior of High School

Radford High School

BOBCATS

ohhh lawd

where has the time gone?

When did I blink?

As I sit here kicking my feet

and

demanding a "re-do"

where did that cute little guy go with the sweet smelling feet

who now wears a "not so sweet smellin size 13"

and

is oh so tall and big?

tonight

in

Radford VA

many a tear will fall I do believe

as

football players/cheerleaders

and those who love them and have watched them grow

watched and listened as they have developed

thoughts of their own, values, morals, and opinions

now take that field as seniors on the last night

of

FRIDAY night football

in a small community

and

as they all stand to face the

United States Flag

I can pray that all will join

and sing the National Anthem

as the excitement mounts

the tears are replaced by

pure energy

and

the hollering begins

for

those BOBCATS

TO PROWL

all over that field!

They will be walking/running/pumped up!

Deshon Devore #11, Justan, Hunter,

 and the rest

(did i mention "intense")

and

those cheerleaders will be (freezing) and doing their "thang"

and

the crowds will be filled with spirit

for the teams that will gather

each wanting this win some kinda bad!

AND

I will be in my

Bobcat shirt

waiting for my phone to start blowing up with texts from cuzzie as she texts in the cold the latest updates and scores!

I will just be insane from a distance

imagining it all

and

D'Vante will hear me in his heart

how it will feel as

cuzzie and little kamryn walk on the field

as they represent him on his

Senior Night,
joined with all the others

representing the Seniors tonight!

COB will be sitting with her crew on the 50 yard line

and

yes

the tears will fall

oh goodness she will be a mess to be certain!

AND

then those Bobcats will have their

'attitude on'

as they

PROWL

onto that field

with pride and desire

and
the tears will be replaced by
excitement and adrenalin and the hollering will begin!!!
IT'S FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS BABY!!!
Tonight Robin Reed of WDBJ-7 the meterologist will even be there, and I'm betting Robin will report on the heat generated by all the fans that hang on that 50 yard line where
cuzzie Ang and COB and pals are known to shake black n gold containers that make all sorts of racket and hoop and holler
and
get tips from one of the Dads at ways to distract the opponents by yelling
D E F E N S E
to the tops of their lungs!!!
yep bettin ole Robin Reed is in for a real treat
by more than the razzle of the black n gold
of those BOBCATS as they prowl
and ohhh heaven help us if
COB dresses up!!!

But i also bet it is a bit chilly tonight
for those who are in the stands, as
D'Vante tells me he can't really feel the cold too much!
Guess that adrenalin and those endorphins are rather remarkable aren't they?
OHHH how I am already rooting for a big win!
I will be exhasuted by game time

ohhhh my, it will begin and it will mark an ending as well!

Talk about a night of emotion in motion...

I can't help but wonder how others may be thinking as they begin to witness this night

and as memories flood the senses

as those seniors mark such a milestone

and as we all will wonder

where did the time go?

Will they still want to join in those family outings/vacations?

Will they remember and look back with such remarkable memories as many of us?

Will they want them to continue as they now make their own way into their lives

and new beginnings?

We often reflect and think

of those times

and memories made

...

often wishing for a "re-do" a "do over"

or even if honest

a

"do better"

but

remembering not to cry because it ended

but

to smile that it happened at all

may proved beneficial.

Senior night has brought back some wonderful memories

and

wonderings along the day

and

remembering how we sang the song

"you're goin to miss this"

along the way!

D'Vante and Kamryn were even singing it at the end of vacation and we all changed the words to fit our trip,

to fit OUR boys

along the way!

They would even call me months later and sing it to me

on my voice mail!!!

Oh yes

at times

how I miss IT!

SENIOR NIGHT

it's about

BOBCAT FOOTBALL

and

Friday Night Lights!!!

and

what a night it's going to be... the energy is in the air.

Cuzzie is getting ready to celebrate a birth day on the 6th,

so maybe this win will be for her!

After all,

D'Vante had texted me after the last 3 wins

and

my food poisoning event to let me know

Speaking of the

BOBCATS

I'm hoping to speak to the graduating class of

2011

and

here's what I hope they take on that field;

The spirit of the Bobcat

The Bobcat represents patience... imagine that, patience among young people! Warriors of all ages, little and big, on a football field, kids just beginning to discover the wonderment of life, living and all that is and will be. The Bobcat although a rather solitary creature, (no wonder kids hole up in their rooms with music blaring!), is also quite a playful and powerful character, serving as a great reminder for all of us not to take things or ourselves too seriously at times.

This totem and this Radford Virginia team reminds us to be fully aware, to be present right here, right now; to be present, to be mindful knowing that in order to get what we want we must be willing to plan.

 To get what we really want we must adapt our thinking, expand our knowledge, and above all else we must be respectful of all people and all things.

To live the best life possible on the field and in our lives we must believe in the power of self, the power of love, the power of kindness and faith.

With that said:

GO BOBCATS; Play your hearts out, Do your best... focus, purpose, passion, humility and honor!

When the game is over, shake hands with your opponents, hug your brothers on the field.

Look to the stands and show your thanks to those who love and support you always! Raise your helmets, beat your chest, give a "thumbs up"... just take the time to show them some love, win/loss/tie. Remember who loves you baby!!!

Remember, YOU are the Bobcats!

The spirit of the Bobcat asks that you dig deep, Look deep within yourself, discover all that you want and need to become the best you; living with honor and dignity and truth.

Words, yep they sure are Powerful!

Well I'm thinking this was one of the beautiful sights

I took the time to feast my eyes on

while in

Boulder this year

...

It was just too beautiful not to take the time to get a closer view of

while also taking in those

remarkable

"flatiron mountains"

that just were amazing

along with the people I met out there!



I now am preparing to travel to El Paso, Santa Fe

and

beautiful

Alburquerque New Mexico

and

oh how I remember the beauty there!



I was sitting this morning

and

thinking of the power of words...

How remarkable and powerful words are

and the feeling they leave on the tongue

and

often in the heart.

It is and can be

staggering when we take the time to think about

our choice of words

of timing

and

then sprinkle in the delicous sounds of words

as they leave our tongue

only to travel on the wind

and

into the ear and brains

of others

...

I have often heard the stories of

how great misunderstandings occur

from the words that are uttered

and

then absorbed by the listener.

Words can "cut like a knife"

inflicting great pain

or

soothe like a balm to the soul

depending to the intention, the mood, the moment.

It does seem at times

children speak before thinking

and

often adults who "act as children"

seem to do the same things

or

adults with "issues" or perhaps those in pain, or those who are frustrated, or those who do not think before movement

will

often "lash out"

with "mis-directed" frustration and anger.

It is in those times

that the ones that are the "safest", those who are "loved the most"

end up being the recipient

of the worst of the storm.

I have to believe

that moments or times like that are

not intended to wound

but

are indeed "mis-directed" moments of angst/anger.

It is hard to imagine that one who loves another would

lash out deliberately to wound one who is so loved,

creating the equivalent of a knifing

to the soul or heart of another.



When last on the road

we had a wonderful exercise around the

power of words;

of tasting the words that were said,

and

the challenge of my asking when was the last time

participants used words like:

EFFERVESIENT

DELIGHTFUL

GIDDY

SPECTACULAR

BRILLIANT

PHENOMENAL

How about you friends?


Was it yesterday that you said any of those words above? Perhaps while talking with a friend ... or over dinner?

Are you mindful in the words you choose, during regular conversation during your days...

Words; they are used to make our day! Or, can be used to motivate us; make us happy, make us cry, make us laugh, wound us terribly or make us want or feel as though we are on top of the world!

With those words we can make our best intentions felt and our deepest pains known; sometimes we risk to do that and other times they spill out like a great fountain...

When you are frustrated... have you tried just walking away for a few minutes to get your head wrapped around the things you are grateful for rather than having a "knee-jerk reaction" or saying things that perhaps you would later rather bite your own tongue off than have said in haste and not meant?

Rather than being "pissed off" ... have you ever thought of challenging yourself to being perhaps "PEEVED" and said it out loud just to hear the difference and then feel the difference in your own body? You may find it rather delicious how you notice the relaxation in your body as your mind wraps around saying "that made me a little peeved today", and then the magnaminous sound of your own laughter as opposed to growling during the same set of circumstances!

Mornings Ramblings

BEAUTY

Holding on to beauty

The skies are remarkable

if

we remember to

LOOK UP

It is amazing the sights that can been ours

to claim as just ours

no matter the day

no matter the realities of the world

there is indeed beauty all around

us.

As I re-enter to the realities

now away from the

"sights" and "sounds"

and

beauty of the Bahamas

I have laughed myself silly over the mistakes I have made

trying to get my head back in the game.

I have been overwhelmed with the

upcoming days on the road and in the air

and

my efforts to get them together

only to have made

mistake after mistake

and

finally throwing my hands in the air

deciding

I am still on "island time"!

Perhaps it was the "sights I saw"

that have interferred with my brain functions

but

one thing is certain

re-entry can be difficult!

Yes, I know I am back on land, and

Yes

I know I have much to do

I keep telling that to my brain here...

Ahhh

but

re-enter we must

to the reality of the world

and

the world does not like to be kept waiting!

Well

I cannot believe how quickly time goes by

and

that is my story and I'm sticking to it!

Granny used to tell me how quickly time goes by

but I just didn't see it back in the day that way,

guess it has something to do with growing UP?

Or

standing UP?

The emails/phones/and those who want what they want

continue on...

One thing is certain,

and

that one thing is this...

When we hear of others in pain,

those who are hurting

there is a sense of helplessness and that of

wanting to do "something" for most who then wish they could find the way to "soothe", to "fix it", to "do more".

It is then that it may help if we could remind ourselves

the very important role of

"BEING PRESENT";

for often just "being" is the most important gift that can be given to those in need.

It is helpful to remind ourselves that although we may be tempted to "fix things", we cannot... It is not ours to fix, nor is it often possible to take away the troubles/pain/angst of another.

For those we love,

there is nothing quite as painful as seeing those we love in pain.

We would almost rather take their pain than to witness it, knowing we cannot take it away nor fix it!

But again,

it is not ours to take, nor are we often able to magically make it go away,

but

we can bear witness, we can administer hope, care, and genuine authentic love during it, through it, and after wards.

So then
HOW ARE YOU ALL TODAY?

I mean she was married for 71 days

made quite a bit of dough on each day of the blissful marriage including a quite lovely rock of diamonds

We are soon ready to change

the light has changed on us,

we are in the dark months...

It is time

for

"gather your resources for the coming months"

to stock up on that which you will need!

Just as the "bush tails" the squirrels are doing now;

swimmers, the crawlers, the four-leggeds

and

know that this is the time

to gather up those close to you

that will give you support through the winter

and

will sustain you in times that you may need someone

just to let you know

that you are loved, cared about,

and

to remind you

LOOK UP

Have you ever wondered

Beauty can just fill the soul!

As my freind

says

"one frame at a time"

we should all try hard to take life

one

frame at a time!

What remarkable beauty

and

wonderment

my last week was

with joy that filled me

along with great laughter

and

oh the sights to behold!

I definately left the world of "doing"

and

settled into

"being"

and

now that I think about it

yes

"it was indeed one frame at a time"!

We captured great memories

savored each moment

and

oh how the laughter filled the winds, the waters

and

the memories we made!

But

now I must tell you

some of the sights we saw

were a bit much for the eyes

and

we all had to wonder...

[I had to slap ole' DLB and Joan a few times]

encouraging them to put on their shades

and

even at times to try to not be quite so obvious

in their people watching!

But

wonder we did

at the things some wore aboard the ship

and

wondered even more when they tried on those bathing suits

knowing full well that they

did look into mirrors at themselves before making that purchase and leaving the stores...

BUT

again

I'm all for "free will" and "choices"

and

have been encouraged

that

next cruise I just mmight get me a bikinia

or

a

THONG

and

just let the flab fall where it may!

As the brilliant philosopher

Dr Seuss has taught us,

 "If you never did you should. These things are fun and fun is good”

And the skies were a sight to behold from the seas; the people of the Bahamas tried to get us to buy the islands... they were lovely indeed...

Folks on the ship

were a kick,

the staff for the most part a delight and made sure we had the best time ever

although me and the guy with the towels had to have a conversation more than once

on getting those towels

but

he finally understood!

But

then there were those

"can't resist Kodak moments"

and

the times I just had to "slap my darlings"

cos' they were just having too much fun

as

they people watched!

Ohhhh my the music

was

HOT HOT HOT

and

the hot bodies

they were there too;

the muscles beautiful in the bathing suits

those that were indeed

"easy on the eye"

and

there were little ones in all mannner of suits

including a little girl of about 7

who was topless!

That did not sit well with

Olivia!!!

There was great diversity on this cruise

and

we liked that;

from many countries, many colors,

we saw many power scooters

many young and old

and

we saw some sights that just were

amazing!

Did I mention:

I had to slap DLB and Joan?

Yep , had to slap em I did!

SPEEDO... really?

BUTT

SOME THINGS

i could just not slap them about...

CAN U SAY\

"I GO TO A TANNING SALON?"

YEPPERS, had to slap my girls several times,

BUTT

I'm thinkin

IT WAS ALL GOOD!

and

when you really think about it:

those folks

had the best time evah,

perhaps even as good a time

as we did

(although hard to imagine)

cos'

I never did hear their laughter as I was too busy enjoying

ours!

AND ohhh how we laughed

and

enjoyed each moment

and

only three or so times

did someone approach me and let me know of their

"grief/angst/story"

...

I do think perhaps it is

in the DNA or I have a "scent" that others can pick up

that lets them know who or what I do

that makes them seek me out!

One woman was so drunk, but found me

in the casino; saying she was "drawn to me, to tell me her story"...

UH OHHH,

"she was tryin to walk into my happy place"

hahaha

Well

had it not been for this sigtook n

DLB and Joan

would have thrown her overboard

cos'

it was

"Crusie time"

and

I was in my happy place

so they just simply took over for me

saying

"nobody, NOPE not nobody gets in to see the wizard on this trip,

sorry but not NOBODY"

and

that took care of that! 

When you cruise ....

REMEMBER YOUR SHADES!

OHHH the places you will go

and

the sights you will see!

If you look close

you will even see me

in the lens of Olivia!

“"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.” Dr Seuss So to those who gave us great enjoyment and made our eyes strain and those who we admired for their beautiful bodies and made us swear we were going to start exercise plans and programs once and now that we have hit the land 'WE THANK YOU' ... I am reminded of Maya Angelou how said it and I use it so often, "nothin works unless you do" as I saw those buff bodies and beautiful tans along with bodies that I would have wrapped up rather than show they also taught me and reminded me that beauty is all around and comes in all shapes and sizes... If a person wants to show theirs in a string bikini or speedo good for ya! And for others who enjoy the people watching I cannot think of a better place to do it than on a cruise and Oh how I love Norweigian Sky free stylin is my style of cruise! Bathin suit and shorts for the whole cruise except for the elegant dining evening and it was 5 star plus! We sure did have a fine time and re entry to reality has been and is an adjustment but the sun is shining today and for that I am grateful!
