NEVER MIND THE DOGS

BEWARE

OF

THE OWNERS

Perhaps this target needs to be put

on the outside of my Garage

Yesterday morning after the sun came up

thinking it was just another morning

DLB

left with coffee in hand

and a pep to her step

off to start her day when she recognized

that something just didn't feel right

after unlocking her car

from the night before.

And

sure enough

something was just plain out WRONG.

Some Rat Bast**d(s)

had managed to break into her "locked" car

and just make one fine mess

going through it and through her bag

that she had mistakenly left there

after about 12 hours of work

rendering her exhausted when she got home.

They managed to break in without breaking out

the window

but

did manage to find among the many and assorted

strange things that live in her bag

her little wallet which held

her newly renewed drivers license

"happy belated birthday my friend"

and

her credit/debit cards

along with other little treasures she keeps there

in a little wallet with sentimental value (she says)

and to otherwise just make havoc in her car.

Their attempts to get into the gas

of the car was thwarted

since the last break in of the car in the middle of the night in our very lovely and quiet neighborhood

which prompted her to get one of those

pain in the ass "key locked" can fasteners

which require you to have great manual dexterity

in order to get it opened to now pump your gas.

Now that little gizmo came in quite handy this time.

Of course we now have been paying

Progress Energy more money these days

as we keep the outside lights on

in our

friendly efforts of

lighting up the night

to

showcase our beautiful homeplace

along with thwarting

those who may be

UP to NO GOOD

in our lovely and quite safe little neighborhood.

I don't have to tell you

as she returned inside yesterday morning

it was not a pleasant time

as

we both ranted and raved

and

then called

Tarpon Springs Police Department

to report that indeed some low lives had visited

us in the middle of the night!

It's always good to see

our local

Police Department

as

we go and take them home made cupcakes

to thank them for putting their lives on the line

often

and let them know we appreciate their service

in our community.

BUT

we do not like the idea of having them roll up to the door

nor

would I much like that light behind me when

I am out there "rolling down the road"!

This young man was professional, thourough and of course began with;

"First I need to tell you, do NOT ever leave your bag/purse in view or in the car overnight" ...

I had to stand between him and DLB over that one,

as I knew she had one nerve left

and

feared that comment may just be the one that

stood on that very nerve!

We all know that one,

but really now,

what happened to

safety at home; your driveway, your sanctuary,

people respecting each others' property.

Yea yea yea, I know times are hard,

desperate people do desperate acts.

I get all of that, remember I am a social worker!

BUT

for craps sakes,

let's get real here. After all, if you cannot be safe at home, all of these home invasions around here in Florida, break-ins, folks breaking into cars, car jackings and such.

Now what a way to start off a day...

Yes Luckily no one was hurt.

BUT

do not get us started now... we do not want to have to lay in wait in the bushes here for some scum bag or kid to try this again, and then have to tackle them to the ground or shoot em for stupidity!

That is just plain out stupid to break into someone's car

in their driveway when they have lights on that could possibly indicate they will walk out the door at any given moment and shoot your butt!

So during this "dusting of prints" DLB and I were hot on phones, canceling all cards, and talking...

Drinking coffee and trying to think of ways to further deter such behavior

(barbed wire maybe?)

I asked the officer if he was carrying two Glocks on his hips as I noticed he looked like he was packing some serious heat!

He grinned and said, "No one is a stun gun" and smiled at the question.

I was impressed as they both looked the same to my eyes. Another squad car pulled up and soon they headed around the corner, work here complete.

Oh yes,

another home around the corner was hit as well last night... whew, I feel much better...

Off to write a letter to the home owners association

we need to do something about this.

AND

while we're at it, maybe it's time to also get a bigger sign about that

NO SOLICITING

we have, as it doesn't seem to be working so well these days.

Between those trying to sell lawn services, magazines and Jesus; the doorbell is driving the 4 leggeds nutz

and me right along with them.

Maybe if someone came along

selling Glocks and stun guns I might just be interested today

but as for the rest,

THE POLICE OFFICER THAT ARRIVED YESTERDAY MORNING CALLED:

HE CAUGHT THE RAT THAT BROKE INTO THE CAR!

YEP

TARPON SPRINGS POLICE DEPARTMENT

CAUGHT HIM

AND

IT'S A FELONY!

Yep, goin to be a great weekend

as all are preparing for the

Easter Bunny

I know I'm looking forward

to that

today will enjoy each breath

knowing I am safe in this little community

just think, I have a pro coming to

"pressure wash" the lanai today

while Mitch and I trim us some trees!

Ah yes, It's good to be me!
