You've Got What It Takes!

YOU've got what it takes to sing your song, to dance to the beat in your heart, to be the best you that even YOU haven't seen yet... It's a day to sing your song!!! To make some joyous noise wherever you are, whatever YOU are doing, whatever the circumstance or the moment you might find yourself in or pondering.  YOU can set the tone, the direction, the feelings and attitude... ONLY YOU can make the sound clearer in your head, the rhythm in sync with your world and clear your thoughts in right way relations by digging deep, by working the plan to reach for the light.

YOU are the light that shines brightly within, a combination of tears and light that makes the most brilliant rainbow that others stand in awe gazing at, knowing its sign and message... YOU are the one that can rise from the ashes as the phoenix if you choose to, often making life changing choices and desires happen, and touching family, friends and community in ways yet to be discovered along the way with a clear head and good deeds.  YOU are a beacon, so let yourself shine and perhaps we will decrease that stress that is sweeping the Nation and find those words that escape us so easily these days while making us think we have lost our precious minds and our way along the journey.  Stress is affecting the world, our neighbors, family, friends and community; worry is keeping folks sleep deprived altering the way we used to be, the way we think, live fully and love purely.  Our minds, those brilliant brains are on overdrive, limiting the ability to find words, to cope well, to stay well physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Somehow folks have started looking at things not being fair, not being right, and have stopped counting blessings and enjoying what is and lives within them.  There is so much good.

Yes, there is pain of losses, pain of shock and grief that is cumulative. There is that missing those who have gone on and now dance across the galaxies. It is normal to miss someone that has loved and loved you... It is how it has always been and will always be, and yet life is for the living, for the remembering them, say their names and bring them here where they lived and live forever in the stories and the hearts while living fully in the now, through the pain and the beauty.

Inhale the beauty, inhale the blessings... exhale through the mouth the stress, the angst, the pain and feel the shift, feel the movement as your light shines brighter and is shared by others.... Celebrate this day, the good that surrounds you. Look for the goodness. Smile and notice it reflected back, as others feel that presence, those words and the energy ... Laugh often as the brain cannot experience laughter and stress at the same time. LOVE/LAUGHTER WINS!

Think... before you find the words, slow down and then speak. It may be time for a new and different story or time to break the old tapes that keep you stuck in the loop that plays in the brain causing the same stress over and over and over again... remember those 8 track tapes, the cassettes we used to tighten with a pencil, the ones that played over and over? It may be time to pull that tape out on old stories that do not serve you, and start anew with good stories, good messages to that brain; keep what is worth keeping and get rid of the rest.  YOU are worth it, YOU are the one to give you the messages and the brain loves consistency... repeat after me, "I am awesome, I have what it takes"! Good job, now be good to you.

Fire up that brain of YOURS... put your heart and soul into it... knowing that Creator gave you all you need to move and to do all that you can with a song in your heart as you dance, pray, play and make joyous noise.

Have a blessed weekend,
YOU'VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES!

I wish you enough

Looking for the words...

Sometimes, some days ... even some moments can be like that. A combination of colors sights sounds stress nerves all bound into the heart the brain the nervous system and we are in that moment, word finding. Just stunned and stopped for a moment looking for the words, those words that are right on the tip of our tongue yet cannot come out, lost somewhere in our brain and our thinking about so many things, so many people, so many issues, heartaches, good things all wrapped into a brain filled and nerves that are frayed or sending the wrong messages at the same time, mixing good with bad. Ever had those times?

Sure to be losing you ever loving mind, or wondering if dementia has set in or that you have just completely lost the word for "ammonia" as you search under cupboards shelves  and closets knowing what you are looking for but can't come up with the name of it... stress mounts and the desperation to find what ever it is you are looking for becomes more like a search and seize movie on CSI?

Or you could be involved in a conversation and hear the stories of another, trying to remain calm, remain neutral, knowing that each person has their own opinion, their own 1st Amendment rights, yet seem to have forgotten the responsibilities that come along with those rights, yet you are looking for the words to keep you from wanting to reach over the table and knock common sense into them? Ever had times like that... words are powerful, they sometimes get lost from the brain to the tongue before coming out from the mouth and we have to wonder if it is us or just the overwhelming amount of information we are already coping with.  Sometimes when trying and looking for words, it may be that the best thing is to laugh, to reset and rest the brain just for the moment. to laugh hard and loud as when we are doing that we just cannot experience stress at the same time. It may just be that is the answer to those times I'm thinking.

In times of great stress, heartache, fear, or even those times when we read or engage in conversations feeling our nerves get taut and our senses get alert... as we find the need to word find or search for words. That is the time to take a breath, to look for the humor in it, to stop searching and just find something that we can laugh at, even if it's at ourselves.

The worry will do no good, getting all jacked up will only increase the adrenalin and leave us weak afterwards... and unless we plan on lifting a car from someone in harms way I doubt it will help. folks will be a different as each rain drop, each snowflake, each sunset and so will we. We are each unique in that way. Each persons joys, pain, grief walk is unique.

And, that looking for words, word finding and losing your cell phone and car keys that are probably in your hand is happening to everyone around the globe cos' everyone is stressing out over things that they cannot control today, things and people that have their own way, their own path, their own rights to say what they want about what they believe.

And that is what makes us a free country because of those who signed a blank check to serve, some gave all while all gave some.

We all have responsibilities with those rights
and
we now stand with the true need to find the words and the actions to be a kinder more compassionate America
in our families, communities and nations.
Even though at times I have to look for and find the words...

Asking for prayers today for my family in Southwest VA
as we surround all those who have asked
and continue to Stand for Oklahoma in strength and healing.

Now where did i put that stuff to clean my rings, what's it called again?

DANGEROUS CONVERSATION, the Radio Show

Yep, it's a great day here in Tampa Bay... and I am honored once again to join with Scott Legere behind the mike of Dangerous Conversation the radio show LIVE this afternoon from 4-6pm! One thing is certain, I will be met at the door by fine men who control the sound, the energy will be off the chain, and Lege will be as fine and as uncensored in his feelings, his passion and his thoughts as he ever is. Those two precious labs will come up to me for their Dr. Sherry love and wonder where their treats are that I always promise but seem to always forget and I wonder who will call in and what we will talk about as we keep it real there in that room where it gets as real as real can be, in honesty and in times where tears mix with laughter as men just don't cry (NOT).

I have decided I LOVE being on radio; lookin for Lege to hook me up with his producer Cynthia for my own show someday I'm thinkin; she is one fine woman she is... with a heart and passion that can't be beat.

Dangerous Conversations, today will be a powerful show... tune in it's on the internet and you can find it right here in real time, with those who have walked the walk:

On RadioIo.com - http://bit.ly/Xu0BaX

Folks have probably liked Dangerous Conversation on Facebook, some are not quite brave enough, some have listened to him as he talks sports, or reports on the Tampa Bay Bucs; many know of him just like this brief description:

Scott Ledger's Airwork:WAQY WZTA WXTB WTBT WHPT Buccaneers Radio Boundary Tester ... Rabbit Hole Diver Critical Thinker, and a guy with just an all around sweet and good heart!  He's at home behind the mic, and has some pipes that just won't quit when he hits the air.  He can be raw, he can be tender and appreciative filled with respect when he's talking to vets, active duty or those who have loved someone and lost so much or so many.  He's a damn good guy.

Today's show is going to be another that is real, that will fill your senses and will keep you listening as we hear the stories of those who have been through it.  We are going to be spending some time with two veterans and hear their stories, give them some time, talk to them and keep it real.  I hope you will join us as we take to the air today with those who have served our country and now take the time to spend some time in Dangerous Conversation with Lege and me.  I am honored.

Just thinking about Oklahoma

This morning as I watched these 4 leggeds dance around the pool and then break into their NASCAR run, I found myself thinking once again about Oklahoma pride, after devastation, about resilience. I remembered the news of the storms as they headed to Oklahoma, remembered how quickly regular folks with regular lives were torn apart and towns uprooted and turned upside down, lives lost and now people looking through the rubble for that treasured thing that makes them jump with joy once found.

*My prayers are with Pop Springs and his family today; as they are grieving the sudden and tragic loss of his neice and her child. Please pause and send healing energy to his Dear Brother John Keys and his Wife Frances Keys and their Family. Their Daughter Toykia K. Keys and their Grand-Son Kamany Love have been reunited with the Creator yesterday morning in a serious vehicle accident.*
Pop I am thinking of you all up there in Hampton VA, may the Creator watch over all of you...

The resilience of the human spirit, the many who are travelling miles to lend a hand to others and the donations that are coming from far and wide remind me that there is goodness in our world, on our soils and in the hearts of our brothers and sisters.  Look for the good I keep telling others and myself, just look for the helpers and oh what helpers there are all over the place.

Moments afterward we heard of OKC Thunder and Kevin Durant coming forward with his million dollars, the NBA with their matching that, and other players jumping not on the ball but in the fields of OK... Blake Shelton, Trace Adkins of country music and Reba McIntrye all calling OK home, and all jumping in with millions to help and songs to sing along with the players, the ones who are standing strong along with regular folks gathering with those who are making a difference...

And you can't help but wonder, all of this before ever hearing of a FEMA truck, all of this and still not a word from the wealthiest of the wealth the Donald Trumps of the world who could easily dip into pocket change in ways that will make huge differences for so many...

Yet the sports world, the country music world are out in force, regular folks are gathering from Sandy Hook to Pulaski Va where cuz Angie and Pulaski Health and Rehab are gathering from folks in New River Valley and will join with trucks who are Gleaning for the World and will roll into Oklahoma with stuff that is needed...

We are united in times like this, in times like Memorial Weekend where riders of Rolling thunder in Arkansas made a detour on their way to DC and ended up in OK to stand the line of protection at the funeral of a little one and to let Westboro Baptist church know; "OKLAHOMA does not want nor will tolerate your disrespect"... Folks showed up and showed out in hundreds to protect the line, and honor the fallen, the families and friends against hate and stupid.

That's just how we roll on this soil, as Oklahoma stands strong...

As the tide rolls, jump the wave or ride, it is your day.

Just sitting here thinkin

Memorial Weekend prayers goin UP

 ROLLING THUNDER
thunder rolls into the Nations Capital to honor remember, respect for those who can't
Memorial Week-end

as grills and boats and hikes are getting under way around the country; thousands and thousands are gathering in Washington D.C. to remember the fallen, the brave; the men and women who laid it all down for our freedoms. WE THANK THEM... as flags are waving in the blue skies, as music plays and tributes are made, our women and men are still fighting for those very freedoms that many have died for, that many are still missing and unaccounted for.  This weekend as you are about your day, tomorrow if you are on the road, in the sun, take the time to stop everything and say THANK YOU... as you remember what this weekend and tomorrow is really about.

When you see a biker on the road, give them some room, give them a thumbs up or a nod. You just never know who might be the one riding it; it could be the one who protected and served, the son or grandson of a Vet or one who is still MIA/POW, the one who took the time to drive to Moore Oklahoma and stand the line of respect and protection against the idiots of Westboro Church... You just never know.

May you have a day that is gratitude filled as the prayer bowl is filling and the thoughts of love and kindness in thanks goes up.

Thank YOU
Salute

The prayer bowl is growing as we hold up so many in thought, in energy, in prayers that are offered; the fire is lit, the sage is in the air;
For OKLAHOMA, WE HOLD YOU UP, ROLLING THUNDER WE ARE WITH YOU IN SPIRIT as you gather in D.C. honoring, remembering and riding this weekend...

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND, Some gave all, All gave some

WE REMEMBER... and we thank them ALL.
As Rolling Thunder has rolled in on motorcycles from across the states this week, the thunder has been heard, they are gathering; most will gather near the Vietnam Wall; old and new friendships will be bonds as brothers and sisters as they prepare to lay the wreath at the Tomb of the Unkown Soldiers. It is about honoring, respect, remembering. It is a weekend that once again we know that all are not accounted for who have fought for our freedoms here at home. Rolling Thunder continues to ride for those who can't and yet again they will ride, bringing with them the next generation, the sons and daughters, granddaughters and grandsons who love and miss those who died for all of us, paying the ultimate price for freedom as we fire up grills and hit the beaches this weekend.

Many will be back in Vietnam in their hearts, in their stories and in their minds; while so many more will be in sand miles away still fighting for our freedoms carrying more than 70 pounds on the backs having not bathed in months and wishing they were home.  Some will wonder what in the hell they are fighting for, while others will have held their brother in their arms as he or she took their last breath and still others at home in their chair who fought the great battles would tell you that they would do it all over again given the chance for their country.

Flags will be flown high in Washington D.C. and many will come out to meet those men and women of Rolling Thunder, so many of them Veterans who have been there, who have walked the walk and now ride proud and stand.  Many who took a detour on their way and rode straight to Moore OK, and made sure that the funeral of little Nicolas who died in the Tornado was safe for the family, as they protected the line and the friends and all there from the idiot squad of Westboro Baptist Church who are in Oklahoma with the intent of picketing the funerals. Yet the Arkansas chapter of Rolling Thunder and hundreds of others made sure that Oklahoma felt the angels surrounding them and dignity was assured on the week of Memorial Weekend.  Once again Thunder rolled in for honor and respect, and protection just as it is happening this weekend in the District of Columbia, and they are rolling proud.

Some will fire up grills this weekend, many have left town for a great time while others are looking for a chance to kick back, lay back, and just be still.

One man plans to have a quiet weekend, and I hope he does while many send him a salute and a thank you, maybe dropping by his home in Texas with a rack of ribs and a hug! Thank you sir for your service and your life...

We thank all as we remember them, we remember them as they have given us the opportunity to live in a free country, realizing that freedom is not free. Yet many feel the right to bitch, moan, groan and complain yet do little more than that on social media, over cocktails with photo shopping and quotes or misinformation or in conversation while feeding the negative and have managed to forget that we must must stand together while giving to each other kindness compassion and add to the light of others in order to shine brightly.

We must find our way to stand as proud and free Americans with one flag, one voice while erasing those lines that divide and separate and work for the greater good.  Time is moving quickly and we could once again learn from the tragedy of Oklahoma that we shine and do best under times of distress and our best comes out when there is a crisis that involves people in harm's way.  Look at the response of Oklahoma, the efforts of people reaching out to people, not politics, but people.  The first step up to help financially came from a basketball player, country music players, and everyday people. A hate cult called Westboro showed up and bikers and veterans showed out, standing the line with everyday people to protect and honor the fallen and the survivors and they proved that love wins.

This weekend the District of Columbia is filled with Veterans of Wars and those who love them, and children who never met their dads and moms but are there at the Arlington National Cemetery, there at the Vietnam Wall to honor, to hear the stories, to meet others and feel closer and to give love and support with a hand, a story, a moment of understanding.  It is that which matters and makes us stronger together than any moment of minute apart as we gather as we hear thunder roll.

May you remember, honor, take time out of your weekend to hang your flag in honor of our great Nation, for those who have fought for your freedoms and our lives... May you stand stronger thinking of so many who came home with no parade, nothing but the horrors trapped within them and the many who are still unaccounted for and the families that continue to wonder, the children that never got to experience them knowing that their lives could have been so much more.

May you enjoy that bbq, yet remember why it is that you have that long weekend ahead of you, and those who gave their lives for each of us in battle and those that continue that fight under our flag today.
If you haven't been to the wall, try to go there, this weekend there will be more Veterans that will and can tell you of their brothers and sisters in arms than any other time and the trail of tears continues...along with the honor will last you a lifetime. Spirit is strong there and there is someone always nearby, ALWAYS very close nearby.

With love and great gratitude to all who served, all who are serving, on this Memorial Day weekend.

 Thank You

Patti Labelle; I say, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Beloved Woman

Patti Labelle, the one>The Only> Patti Labelle
Celebrates her birthday today!
Oh goodness,
how happy millions are that
PATRICIA LOUISE HOLTE was born!
Now there are many of us that have stood by her through the years; and I do mean the years, we've felt as though her miles and tears have been our own. We've watched her in those heels and from the audience thinking she was 10 feet tall on the stage as her voice hit 5 octaves and her moves captivated us, touched our soul like no other before her or since her as she talked, sang, preached and took us to a place where there is no space or time.
We've met her family, mourned her family, prayed that she would rise above her own fears and her hurts and have watched her soar and still take the stage with a passion and a voice that sends the ever lovin spirit through us leaving most weak in the knees needing days to recover!
Many of us have seen the piano, the lines of high heels on the top, the vases of flowers arranged just so on the stage, we remember Bud as he directed the musicians, the passion that flowed from back then and in the day, the wild hair that we adored and the dancing, the arms stretched and the "fly moves", the bad self she is and still the gospel jumping all over the place as she hit notes that matched the sax and walking away from that sax and still could be heard all over the room.
We fell quiet, and then we screamed our love and our message, knowing she knew she felt the love, she was filled by our energy to continue.
We have been there, and those who have not,
I just cannot imagine and feel so bad for ya!
Some of us have every song she has ever done, and we play them and get lost in the voice, the power, the love of Patti the person, the woman, the time and the story.
There is only one Patti Labelle
and no one will ever perform as she performs!
nope not no one.

We've listened at the biggest of the industries music awards for her name to be announced the winner and walked away angry and disgusted when she was shunned or over looked and yet know that there is none other than
Ms. Patti Labelle.
She is and will always be a true legend and the true diva of music; amazing grace and blessed.
She has been the gift to so many who adore and love her.
She has filled hearts, she has kept it real, she hs touched more hearts than one will ever know, has sung at funerals and celebrated life.
She pulled out the hot sauce in the White house with the most powerful people round the table
while enjoying life in all its glory!
She loves to eat, loves to cook and oh lawd does she love her some hot sauce...
Now a diabetic she is also an advocate and has to use caution more than ever with energy, with care of herself.
She today has hit the 69 year mark, and i have to wonder... where has the time gone, it seems like just yesterday I remember hearing her on the stage saying she was unsure if she would live to be 50 as she talked about her sister Jackie and how she missed her so and mourned her with such intensity.
Time has moved on, Patti is looking fierce at 69 and her pipes are strong just as she is.
She is singing to sold out houses with a passion as strong as ever, she is a class act, and that class is unlike any in the industry today!

Talk about leaving it all on the stage?
Oh my goodness
I've been there I've left it all on the floor as I watched as she filled me up, so hoarse I couldn't hear my own voice for days
and so filled with her voice I am not so sure my feet hit the ground!
Her music, her eyes, her smile,
she fell from the skies with the Creator letting her know she had people to bring together and feet to move with her songs
and she still does.
Happy Birthday to ya Patti Labelle
and thank you for you gifts.

One woman with a kick ass band behind her, more than 50 years of taking the stage and taking it by storm she does... She can fill a house, and when she walks on that stage the place is insane. Yet, they still try to take cameras away at the door when Patti knows, when she stops security from trying to stop YOU from getting close enough to gift her, to take her picture. She knows it is her fans who have loved her through it, who want the photo and often will bring her a brown bag filled with hard shelled crabs laced with old bay seasoning; often a flower arrangement with white mountain lilies, glads, and bird of paradise, often a personal letter or card, or something that she will later check out.  It is after all her fans who have kept her in the business more than 50 years, bought her music, filled her heart as she has filled our souls with the sounds and the sights of her on that stage and in our homes...

We've seen her roll across the stage, change clothes more than twice, wear heels that she then danced in or threw off her feet as she danced and took us places in our nervous systems we needed to go.  She is the ultimate Patti Labelle and we cannot imagine a stage without her on it, a world without her music and a time we were not in the audience screaming to her "take your time Patti, just take your time"!

Oh my goodness how I remember seeing her in D.C. and not just seeing her once, but all three nights she performed... being back stage with her and knowing I would have to take the rest of the week off as I had just had as much joy as I could stand and wanted to savor it as long as possible.  How I remember the wild hair, the wonderment of her, how little she seemed and the adrenalin she left on the stage when it was over, and the blessings she gave to so many through the gift of music...  the love of her sons and the protection she receives from those around her, they know how precious a gem she is and the need to keep her safe as does the Creator.

That Patti Labelle; a precious Gem, Such A Joy to have the love, The Spirit's  IN her and she shares it so freely through the music, and so many will always Stand By Her, when she takes so many Over The Rainbow, cos' she is Burnin, and When You've Been Blessed she reminds you of Heaven, and she reminds us that Music is Her Way of Life, so today I want her and everyone to know, Somebody Loves You Baby, and that If Only You Knew how wonderful you are ... it would be a more wonderful day!

When things seem to not make sense, throw on some Patti Labelle and let her touch you deeply through her music, the rhythm of life, the wonder of one woman's gift; her instrument, her voice and today celebrating her life... that instrument is working beautifully.

Happy and beautiful birthday beloved woman, long may you sing. *Get your butt back to Clearwater FL*

So today we celebrate a woman that has filled the hearts, minds, FLAME, souls of so many and I would venture a guess that the message would be simply this: "Patti, we will continue to stand by you, and we thank you for all of you...SING!"
We've been blessed by the beautiful Patti Labelle and I am thankful she was born!

Walk in beauty... *(or dance)*
