Celebrates her birthday today!

Oh goodness,

how happy millions are that 

PATRICIA LOUISE HOLTE was born!

Now there are many of us that have stood by her through the years; and I do mean the years, we've felt as though her miles and tears have been our own. We've watched her in those heels and from the audience thinking she was 10 feet tall on the stage as her voice hit 5 octaves and her moves captivated us, touched our soul like no other before her or since her as she talked, sang, preached and took us to a place where there is no space or time.

We've met her family, mourned her family, prayed that she would rise above her own fears and her hurts and have watched her soar and still take the stage with a passion and a voice that sends the ever lovin spirit through us leaving most weak in the knees needing days to recover!
Many of us have seen the piano, the lines of high heels on the top, the vases of flowers arranged just so on the stage, we remember Bud as he directed the musicians, the passion that flowed from back then and in the day, the wild hair that we adored and the dancing, the arms stretched and the "fly moves", the bad self she is and still the gospel jumping all over the place as she hit notes that matched the sax and walking away from that sax and still could be heard all over the room.
We fell quiet, and then we screamed our love and our message, knowing she knew she felt the love, she was filled by our energy to continue.
We have been there, and those who have not,
I just cannot imagine and feel so bad for ya!
Some of us have every song she has ever done, and we play them and get lost in the voice, the power, the love of Patti the person, the woman, the time and the story.
There is only one Patti Labelle
and no one will ever perform as she performs!
nope not no one.
 

We've listened at the biggest of the industries music awards for her name to be announced the winner and walked away angry and disgusted when she was shunned or over looked and yet know that there is none other than

Ms. Patti Labelle.

She is and will always be a true legend and the true diva of music; amazing grace and blessed.

She has been the gift to so many who adore and love her.

She has filled hearts, she has kept it real, she hs touched more hearts than one will ever know, has sung at funerals and celebrated life.

She pulled out the hot sauce in the White house with the most powerful people round the table

while enjoying life in all its glory!
She loves to eat, loves to cook and oh lawd does she love her some hot sauce...
Now a diabetic she is also an advocate and has to use caution more than ever with energy, with care of herself.
She today has hit the 69 year mark, and i have to wonder... where has the time gone, it seems like just yesterday I remember hearing her on the stage saying she was unsure if she would live to be 50 as she talked about her sister Jackie and how she missed her so and mourned her with such intensity.
Time has moved on, Patti is looking fierce at 69 and her pipes are strong just as she is.
She is singing to sold out houses with a passion as strong as ever, she is a class act, and that class is unlike any in the industry today!

 

Talk about leaving it all on the stage?

Oh my goodness

I've been there I've left it all on the floor as I watched as she filled me up, so hoarse I couldn't hear my own voice for days

and so filled with her voice I am not so sure my feet hit the ground!

Her music, her eyes, her smile,

she fell from the skies with the Creator letting her know she had people to bring together and feet to move with her songs

and she still does.

One woman with a kick ass band behind her, more than 50 years of taking the stage and taking it by storm she does... She can fill a house, and when she walks on that stage the place is insane. Yet, they still try to take cameras away at the door when Patti knows, when she stops security from trying to stop YOU from getting close enough to gift her, to take her picture. She knows it is her fans who have loved her through it, who want the photo and often will bring her a brown bag filled with hard shelled crabs laced with old bay seasoning; often a flower arrangement with white mountain lilies, glads, and bird of paradise, often a personal letter or card, or something that she will later check out.  It is after all her fans who have kept her in the business more than 50 years, bought her music, filled her heart as she has filled our souls with the sounds and the sights of her on that stage and in our homes...

We've seen her roll across the stage, change clothes more than twice, wear heels that she then danced in or threw off her feet as she danced and took us places in our nervous systems we needed to go.  She is the ultimate Patti Labelle and we cannot imagine a stage without her on it, a world without her music and a time we were not in the audience screaming to her "take your time Patti, just take your time"!

Oh my goodness how I remember seeing her in D.C. and not just seeing her once, but all three nights she performed... being back stage with her and knowing I would have to take the rest of the week off as I had just had as much joy as I could stand and wanted to savor it as long as possible.  How I remember the wild hair, the wonderment of her, how little she seemed and the adrenalin she left on the stage when it was over, and the blessings she gave to so many through the gift of music...  the love of her sons and the protection she receives from those around her, they know how precious a gem she is and the need to keep her safe as does the Creator.

That Patti Labelle; a precious Gem, Such A Joy to have the love, The Spirit's  IN her and she shares it so freely through the music, and so many will always Stand By Her, when she takes so many Over The Rainbow, cos' she is Burnin, and When You've Been Blessed she reminds you of Heaven, and she reminds us that Music is Her Way of Life, so today I want her and everyone to know, Somebody Loves You Baby, and that If Only You Knew how wonderful you are ... it would be a more wonderful day!

When things seem to not make sense, throw on some Patti Labelle and let her touch you deeply through her music, the rhythm of life, the wonder of one woman's gift; her instrument, her voice and today celebrating her life... that instrument is working beautifully.

Happy and beautiful birthday beloved woman, long may you sing. *Get your butt back to Clearwater FL*

So today we celebrate a woman that has filled the hearts, minds, FLAME, souls of so many and I would venture a guess that the message would be simply this: "Patti, we will continue to stand by you, and we thank you for all of you...SING!"

We've been blessed by the beautiful Patti Labelle and I am thankful she was born!
