Morning Sun Showers

Candles burning for our
NORTH AMERICAN BEARS
My pal Lynda Showell did this,
talented isn't she?
The names of our collared bears are on the inside ring
The names of our uncollared bears the outside ring
ALL

all gentle creatures of the Northwoods
A candle is burning brightly for

Good and bright morning ~ yep, it's goin to be a great day... I just decided. After sitting here in the darkness, enjoying my coffee (which I dribbled into the sink today after a reader suggested pouring over the sink)...
Still think you should be able to pour a cup in a cup with out a drop going on the counter...

I am experiencing the most amazing moment here. The sky is blue, the clouds abundant, white and puffy, and a gentle rain has been falling. Sun showers…. It is hot, it is humid, and it is beautiful.
I am amazed that all this happens at one time. I guess I am so used to thunder storms and torrential downpours here in Florida that this particular combination of nature’s gift is special.
It is hot, the air is still, the rain silent.
 It really is beautiful.
It makes me want to take a moment and revisit the issue of water.
A wonderful thing. It cleans, it heals, it soothes, it quenches our thirst, and we take it for granted.
Glad that it is so abundant that we can.

Conjure up some memory of a good long soak, maybe a bubble bath, or a hot tub at the spa. Go ahead... I'll wait here...

 Relaxing, peaceful?
Think about the last time you sat beside the ocean and listened to the waves crashing upon the shore, or walked along the beach with gentle waves lapping at your feet.

Remember the feeling of a long hot shower after a long day.
Think about a walk or a dance in the rain,
or looking out the window watching the progress or excitement of a storm.
Lots of opportunities to experience the gift of water all around us.
I can remember when we lived in Northern Virginia and traveled hours to get to the ocean.
To listen to the sounds, spend hours on the beach marveling at the sheer endless power of the water.
Ever been sailing?
Gliding along soundlessly, pushed only by the wind in the sails?
Maybe you have been on a cruise and went for days with only water on the horizon.Amazing how little you are when looking at nothing but water as far as the eye can see isn't it?

Remember the joy of a backyard sprinkler as a child?

I can almost hear the kids squealing. Kicking up pools of water in the grass.
I  have enjoyed the water misters at the parks in Orlando, the hoses awaiting us on the fund raising walks of my youth. I may now volunteer to hold the hose, or cheer on those that do, but I recall how good it felt to have that endless supply of water at the checkpoints.
 Ah, water.
Growing up we had rain barrels at the river cabin, long before the cabin had running water. It provided some of the best shampoos we ever had. Cold, but wonderful soft, silky water. In the 70’s we hippies were all looking into water collection systems. My best pal was engaged in long conversations with Jerry Lavie, Kenneth Ocie and Mom as they created ways  was trying to figure out how to effectively elevate the rain barrels on a tall platform and find some way to warm the water… of course if I remember correctly adult beverages were available with Willie Nelson singing in the background and a fire in the pit as the conversations got deeper and the rain barrels got put aside for the steaks to get grilled!

Funny, now solar power is a reality and still scarce here in the Sunshine State. What’s up with that? Anyway, don’t want to get into conservation here, but, I’m just saying….
How often do we jump in the shower without taking a moment to marvel that it is readily available. Simple turn of the knob and we do this without a thought. We wash clothes, dishes, sidewalks and cars…we water our gardens. Makes me think about that day when the "switch" had me fascinated all over again! Wonder what kids would do if we made them go to the well to get their water for a bath??? hahahaha
All because we have such an abundance of water at our fingertips.
I for one, really do relish this luxury.

I am grateful for the water, whether rain, ocean, or plumbing.Better yet... imagine if they had to go to an outhouse? Now I'm really enjoying myself with that thought!

Enjoy it everyday. Wishing everyone the joy of a sun shower.
Did you know that the human body is 70% water?
Now that is amazing! I don't need to lose weight, I just need to lose water! Wow, that is great news ~

Today, I bid you to swim, take a long bath, a hot shower, sprinkle the flowers, drink often and deeply of this wonderful gift of nature ~

So I'm thinking, maybe if there is a big ole' storm in Ely MN... like a big storm...RAIN RAIN RAIN... say til October 17... do you think the bear hunters would just call it a day and go home and maybe just settle in for the new shows on T.V., maybe get a new hobby? Maybe leave our North American Black Bears alone? Heaven forbid they get wet, get their cam live web cameras wet, get their new camouflage suits and guns and stuff wet... don't those things r U s t??? Good idea, let's get some rain goin out there, so they can just not hunt and say they did and call it done.

Think my sun shower is over, time to lay in the sun... or swim in the pool and gain a few water pounds ~

Sending thoughts to Bravehearts clan, to the Lily fans this morning of strength and HOPE ~

Good Morning, what a great way to start my day. Reading all about the different ways to have a bath, a real bath. What about those of us who cant have a real bath? I can feel the water trickling down my spine, but oh no I cant have a real bath until the healing of the leg. I cant feel the barrels turning over on some of us, what fun is that? Loved it and will forever cherish the memories. For now no bath. A little sponge bath, no trickling water down the spine yet. Must have a good bath before next week. Got big plans for a wonderful trip with some wonderful people. God bless our service men and their families. God bless all of our friends and others who are going thru some trying times with health and with their loved ones health. God bless Dr. SES. Have a wonderful day.

Water...My parents bought some land on the Blanco River in the HIll Country of Texas in 1964. It was a beautiful piece of property that we spent one summer as a family working to clear and clean off the land so my parents could build a little one room cabin that would eventually become their retirement home. I was 13 that summer. We slept in cots in the outdoors while Mom and Dad slept in a 15 foot trailer. Dad would get us up around 7 and we'd begin working around 8 but about 12 we'd stop, eat, and hit the river. The property was in the bend of the river where the water was always flowing. There were ruts in the river you could sit in and Mother Nature had provided us with a jacuzzi. It was absolutely fabulous. Our respite would last about an hr. then we'd get back to work till about 4. We all had blisters and calouses on our hands but Mom and Dad assured us we would always have this place. About 10 years ago my Mom began to realize they were not going to be able to keep the place and were going to sale it. So, two years ago they moved and it was a very sad moment for us all. So many wonderful moments were spent on this place. I will never forget those precious memories.

May God be with and bless our troops and their families. Protect them and bring them home safely.
