Happiness Now!
STOMP
Remembering
It's morning... the sun isn't up yet, but I am with my coffee and my four-leggeds... awaiting the sun . . . and a cherished and dear friend to arrive from Northern Virginia . . .
Today a service will be held for Wilma P Mankiller at 11am... May she dance in the lights of the spirit land always, knowing we will always remember with gratitude and love her life's work... She was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian medal awarded to an American by President Clinton while in office... she was an extraordinary woman, a warrior a leader of people of the Cherokee and an outstanding advocate of those in need of advocacy. I have danced and observed remarkable women dancing in my life; and Wilma P Mankiller will never be forgotten, she was indeed a woman who danced on the edge of rooftops while teaching valuable lessons to not only young girls, but teaching all to reach for the stars... and dream large and in color...
And so it is today....
<*>
But on to thoughts of happy; happy places, spaces, times, thoughts... and moments and times and such as that...
Just heard that Dame Elizabeth Taylor is working on her soon to be 9th marriage... happy is she! He's 49 years old, she is ... well she is... a tad older than he... but she sure seemed happy on the t.v. last evening when she smiled! "Way to go Liz", don't let no one into your "happy place darlin"!
Are we profoundly happy? Do we see others as making or breaking our lovely little bubble of joy?
Yes, others can impact us in a negative fashion, but only if we allow it.
No one resides in my mind with the power to lead me down a dark path.
Here we often talk about losses, death, strife, the angst of cancer, but in the talking we examine the big picture most often. Do not misunderstand me here... CANCER SUCKS... I've said it before, and I stand by that... but during life, illness and death... for the most part, we are pretty remarkable people...
We are life affirming.
We lend each other a leg up to hurdle the speed bumps, the horrors, traumas, cries and pain that life hands us.
I so love that about those who take the time to comment and share their thoughts here with me~
Turn a problem around and sometimes see it as a challenge, or an opportunity to burst forth with some genius solution. Hard at times to be certain, pain unlike most that will ever be felt really... each the worst to be sure... but each with the ability to heal, to reach out of the cave, the den of despair and stretch toward the light... to ask for what is needed because you want to because you can... and for the most part because you know that there is a choice to make...
\\\\\/////
If there really is no solution, ( and that is a rare rabbit anyway), retreat to our mantra, change our attitude toward the power the problem might have once had over us. Delete the misery and kvetching.
Power up your great store of positive thinking. time to stretch... out of the comfort zone...
Change your attitude.
STOMP to regain your personal power.
No problem is insurmountable.
OK so we must climb to the very tip of the summit. The road is closed ahead, oh NO, there's been a mud slide. Is there a foot trail, some bottled water and an old pair of hiking boots somewhere way back in the bottom of the closet?
Can we requisition a helicopter?
Is there a nearby mountain we can leap from and still arrive at the summit before us?
Can we ride on the back of an eagle?
Can we forge a new road and pave it with our own efforts?
Say YES!
OK so maybe some of my suggested solutions are a bit “out there”. The point is we can solve most of the problems.
Every problem has a solution.
We can force most sorrows and troubles out of our "Happy Place" if we choose to.
In an exhilarated state of mind we can change the scale of the problem. We've all read about people who lift cars off of people in extreme times... c'mon now...
Happiness is not the absence of troubles, it is the knowledge that we can deal with most of the problems. We can keep the minute by minute minutia of the daily grind, and all that entails in perspective.
Will this little bump in the road, this small aggravation matter at the end of my life?
Will it even matter a week from now? If we never leave our own happy state of mind, we need not find the long road back.
When we struggle with identifying why we are unhappy in the moment, we are probably remembering the past as better than it really was, the present bleaker than is really is, and seeing the future as the Nirvana we are waiting for. Are you feelin me here???
How soon, the action we postpone “into the future” becomes a disappointment because we let it become “never”.
Today, in this moment we must find our own happiness.
Find it and thrive on it. DEFY GRAVITY~
If we choose doom and gloom, we will fill our lives with it. That’s no way to live.
Carpe Diem.
Seize this day for your happiness.
Light it up?
Add some tunes, stomp back into you bliss this DAY!
We are indeed happiest when our life holds purpose.
When we are building something, sharing something, lifting someone up.
Live with exuberance, with a genuine smile on your face until you MUST smile because you are so very happy you just can’t help yourself! Ever smiled or laughed so much your cheeks ached?
Ever heard the old expression “If I were any better I’d have to slap myself?”
Each moment is only a moment. Oh boy, wish they didn't go so quickly...
Each problem only an occasion to fix what is broken.
We are building each day toward a lasting happiness. Know that one moment leads to the next.
Take charge of this moment. Make it joyous.
Lasting happiness will not come from acquiring stuff. Stuff we don’t already have. Real happiness comes from appreciating all that we do have.
Come on, admit it, have you ever said any of the following...
When I retire I’ll be happy.
When the kids grow up and are finished with school, I’ll be happy.
When I have a robust retirement fund, or win the lottery.
Always projecting our happiness into the future. When the present is past, we will somehow find happiness.
Not so my friend.
True happiness is not contingent on a future set of circumstances.
It is what we make of this day.
We have only the promise of today.
Make it count for YOU...TODAY
When all else fails gratitude will gently lead us back to where our heart lives.
This morning my red heart; beating moment by moment, filled with contentment, is bursting with love, with sorrow, with anticipation, together we are \\\ Anchored by kindnesses shared, governed by our strong minds, and lead by a self-fulfilling prophecy. I hope that the message you give yourself everyday is positive.
Lead with that “can do” attitude.
The fire is burning, the embers are hot, they crackle like a song I remember... "I loved you more" sending HOPE on the winds, prayers on the wind along with messages along the breeze of warmth healing and strength to those who have asked, those who who know who they are... Chris we are thinking about you, Jill wishing you strength, we are wearing the warpaint for you both... Laura, she loves you more and brought you the messages of that love which never dies, to all of you whose names have been listed you know the angels are holding you . . . and we are all beside you in the battle, offering prayers of HOPE and reassurance....
Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, do it well! Find you "happy place" enjoy it there... defend and [protect{ it well! STOMP
