SULTRY SATURDAY MORNING ~

The Moon’s Perfect Light

Good morning from me and the tribe! This is sweet little Gypsy here looking just as pretty as she can be this morning. Tried to get her to make the coffee, but oh noooo, she just lay there waitin' for treats!
The others? Still sleepin' the lazy dawgs!

Ah, but what a night last night...
Even in the night, there is light. Sometimes soft, just shadows of light, gentle moon beams. Stars like diamonds in the sky, On a night with a full moon, the sky is bright, lit up like a holiday. Lighting up the night fully, completely. Reflected off the water, silver.
Moonlight bouncing around, none of it absorbed, just proudly reflected. The night’s gift to us. Lighting up our world. While the sun rests, the moon shines. It is a marvel.
The Godson's used to call me at times and ask if I could see the moon ~ they wanted to know if I was lookin at the same moon that they were; they in Virginia me here in Florida ~ They would end the conversation by saying,
"Well, I love you to the moon and back!"

Many a night, I have prompted a stiff neck by standing stock still just staring up at the night sky.

As often as we celebrate the brilliance of the sun, we must fully appreciate it’s companion, the night’s light.
The perfect moon.
How amazing that it shows itself as a full moon, a half moon, a harvest moon, new moon, a blue moon.
It is predictable.
We can know in advance the stage it will present, and yet, when we take a moment to see it, to appreciate it, the moon is too perfect to fully describe.

Some nights the moon plays hide and seek as the clouds pass before it. The night gently deepens and then, in a moment, the moons light returns. I love to see the trees silhouetted black against the night sky. Yet another example of the perfection of nature. Even as the sun is not fully set in the evening sky, the moon makes itself known. To see both in the same evening sky is so beautiful. To know that it’s cycle will repeat itself. That we can count on seeing the moon again and again. How perfect is that?
"I like to think the moon is there even if I am not looking at it" {Albert Einstein}

Of course you know that just thinking about the moon recalls several songs. You Hung the Moon Didn’t You, comes to mind. Moon River, Dancing in The Moonlight, Fly Me To the Moon. If I could write music, I would write a song about this moon tonight.

It is so easy to get swept up in our activities, and forget to take in the many marvelous things that surround us every day, every night. Take a moment, look up into the night sky. Know that even in the darkest hours, there is light.

There is always some light.
We have only to see it. To remember that it will ebb and flow. That night gives way to day, and at the end of the day, the night’s light greets us. Gently holding us while we rest.

Rest well, rest often.
Look to the night sky, and give thanks for the light of night.
Know that for all the uncertainty in the world, the sun will come up tomorrow, and the sun will set each night.
Last night, the sky was black.
                                         Deep, dark, ebony.
A velvet sky.
A harbinger of a deep and restful sleep. Restorative., quiet, and perfect.

And so today, we are rested, vibrant, rising early to welcome the moon’s BFF, the morning sun. Enjoy this day. Do something special. Savor the coffee. Enjoy the dawn.

STOMP into this weekend. Enjoy the day, and tonight, take a few moments to absorb the magic of nature’s most lovely night lite, the moon ~

Jessie Coulter, you hung the Moon didnt you Waylon. What a beautie of a blog and all about the moon. I look up at the moon quite often and see all of the stars. I am wondering what wonders are going on in the sky, what is those secrets things lurking around the stars and moon. It used to scare me when I saw planes together and later found out they can refuel in the sky. Look up, look out and look all around you and see the beauty of our world. Good job Dr. SES.
