Blessings to all
as families friends gather
both near and far
that Easter Bunny
has been there
leaving a basket of goodies
the sounds now will be heard on the winds
Although I have heard that the news that cold weather is still holding on to some places in our country and even that stuff known as
Snow is making the Egg Hunt a bit of a challenge for some!
I guess the ole Bunny will not be deterred
families will still gather
to see the sunrise over the mountains, the waters, and to stretch into a day of wonderment,
to sit around tables
while sharing time honored traditions. Others may be starting new traditions, doing things differently.
"Easter is not a time for groping through dusty, musty tomes or tombs to disprove spontaneous generation or even to prove life eternal. It is a day to fan the ashes of dead hope, a day to banish doubts and seek the slopes where the sun is rising, to revel in the faith which transports us out of ourselves and the dead past into the vast and inviting unknown."
~Author unknown, as quoted in the Lewiston Tribune
So whether you are coloring eggs, throwin' the ham in the oven; deviling those great eggs or getting your Easter bonnet out to get all dressed for a day of rejoicing on the mountain or by the seaside,
or reflecting upon the New Beginnings of Spring
and thanking the Creator or Goddess of and for your many blessings in your life
May your day be richly blessed
no matter your thoughts, your beliefs
or your faith
From my home to yours
with heartfelt wishes to you and yours
may you celebrate your traditions
and remember those no longer with you
by saying their names
and recalling times gone by.
May you know that miracles are all around you, you are living proof of that.
May you rejoice in knowing
hearts once joined in love and connection
cannot be separated
unless by your choosing
they stay connected
with each beat of the heart.
Today we also celebrate life,
we celebrate spring
the New Beginnings and the moment
by the choices we make
those we have in our lives
and the way
we choose to love them
by our actions
our treatment of them
with each breath we take
each conscious action we make.
Life is for the living
Laugh so much your face hurts
Eat every flavor of pie you can find
start the exercise program on Tuesday
when you share with your friends at home
the new discoveries you made during the
all the new quirks of families and friends
If you go to church
remember to not go to sleep
if you saw the sunrise
at the sunrise services
wasn't it just amazing?
He/she just went and did it again
Brought that sun up just for YOU
and oh boy what a sight to behold it is.
you can never ever ever have enough
Love, laughter, good friends
good times, music
Just so you know:
The name Easter derived from the Saxon Eostre (a.k.a. Eastre). The ancient Saxons in Northern Europe worshiped the Goddess Oestre at the time of the Spring Equinox. The Goddess Easter represents the sunrise, spring-time and fertility, the renewal of life. The name Easter derived from the Saxon Eostre (a.k.a. Eastre). Pagan Anglo-Saxons made offerings of colored eggs to her at the Vernal Equinox. They placed them at graves especially, probably as a charm of rebirth. (Egyptians and Greeks were also known to place eggs at grave-sites). Just a little history to start your holiday today...
