New Years Eve...

Here we are: standing, sitting, laying or running toward it. 2013 is coming to a close!
The ball now sits on top of that magnificent pole in NYC. It's time to end out the business, the events the all of it in 2013 as we ready ourselves for 2014.

Ready or not, here it comes, a brand new year!

Wishing you and yours a most remarkable New Year!

May this be your best year ever for all that is possible, all that is creative, all that is wacky, wonderful and wonder filled.

Be safe out there wherever you are, whatever you are doing, may you do it with beauty, good luck with all those resolutions!

Letting it Go

We are getting close to seeing the year end, another year drawing to a close. Whether we are ready to let go or not, it is drawing to a fast close. Once again the refrain of others is "I can't wait for 2014, and only hope it is better than 2013". Once again the song seems the same from the majority of folks who sang that song in 2012, waiting for the ball to drop on 2013 with the hope of a better year, the desire for the newness, the betterment of self or mostly others in their world.  It seems that is always the song, the music may change but the words are the same. "Just can't wait for the New Year, hoping for it to be better."

Interesting how that is... Makes a person wonder, what was wrong in the year we have just been through, where was the good times, that will now become a memory for those still walking this earth and those who have now joined the Ancestors and missed so here by so many who love them.

We seem to always want to look ahead, want things better than they are, or look back to when ... but do we miss the now of it? The mindful moments when we can make it the best of times in the hard times, the good times, the best of times within and around us in doing that? The questions, the answers that are often found within us. Have we lost the filter or ability to sit silently for a few moments, hours, days to "gnaw on it" as feelings rush through our brains, soul, body,  and nervous systems, before speaking or hitting send on emails, letters, Facebook and Twitter? We are a world of complexities, of reactions, feelings, each trying to live our lives and affected or infected with the thoughts, actions, words of others in our worlds. Each with the ability to pay it forward in small and large ways; in good or bad ways with each action, each thought, each word... We have a strong impact on others and reflect the best or worst on our children, on each other, on every living thing... from strangers we see on the street to each person we interact with.  We also have a responsibility in how we take in the thoughts or actions of others; in other words how much we allow them to affect us! Do their words resonate in our hearts? Our minds? Do they hold us up or diminish us, do they harm our emotional assets by their comments by judgments, by their own comparisons or their own needs?

Some give others too much room in their precious heads... that is a high rent district! It may serve you well to limit who you rent to there.  We each have our own wings, no one can clip them unless you sit still for that. Soar on, set your sights on where you choose to fly, OR just lift off because you can.

"It doesn't matter what others think of you, what matters is what YOU think of YOU".

As this year draws to a quick close, it's time to let things go... let those things go that no longer serve you, those things that no longer feel right to you. Those things that are weighing you down, that are making you less than you are. It is a great time to make an inventory of what you choose to take with you into the New Year, beginning with attitude, with feelings, with desire, hope and the true idea of three things in relations with yourself and others.

1. Is it necessary
2. Is it true
3. Is it going to make things feel good to you or another

Pay it forward... more than a thought, more than a holiday, more than an event ... a lifestyle that anyone can adopt beginning with attitude, smile, desire.

And then of course, as life may have it... the world continues to spin, the tides roll in and they roll out. Feelings they come, they go... Life is like that. Some things remain the same, as do some people out there, patterns get set, habits get made, choices... And then again, some folks decide change is more than coins in the ashtray, or in a jar, or in your pocket... Whatever a person decides, it is their decision. However, it may serve well to remember... another persons' path is not your path, their decisions are not your decisions, their headache is not your headache, their thoughts not yours, their feelings and reactions not yours to feel nor deal with.
Some things best to let go as the year ends, some things to drop just as the ball prepares to drop bringing in 2014.\  A time of those resolutions... of diets, good will, stopping this and starting that, of unrealistic goals and those things that folks always do.

How about folks begin within... Take their own tylenol when their head hurts, remember the three things as they take a breath... pause for their own cause, then make it a point to remember to smile before sharing their words that will ring like a bell that cannot be unrung. The ball is getting prepared in NYC... are you preparing for the changes you want to see within in order to shine brighter in the New Year?  I wish you enough.

It will be a New Year, a year for each of us to do with as we decide, not a year to do it for us.

May you walk in Beauty

2013 is coming to a close...

It's almost time to get our journals out, almost time to get those things ready for our time capsules for the 2013 put away's and hides... (or for the trash never again to be seen or thought about again). Almost time to say so long to 2013 and get ourselves ready to ring in a new and promising year.

Are YOU ready? Are you wondering as I am, where did the time go so quickly once again?

2013 has been quite the year as we look back and hear from others... A sad year for so many, a year of devastation for many more around our lands and seas... A year of high ugliness like I cannot ever remember in times before, not even back in the day when we walked arm and arm for civil and human rights do I remember such ugliness on a daily basis as witnessed on social media, through the thoughts of others. I won't talk about politics, about the White House, the Senate and House and Congress, other than to say, "shame on you" as the people continue to worry, suffer and shake their heads wondering what has happened to common sense, compassion and "We The People, for and by the People".

I continue to stand amazed at a war that has lasted as long as the terror attacks of 9/11 while aide to the very people who attempt to harm the USA is given so freely as people in the USA are hungry and without resources and Veterans are without care and follow through, compassion and kindness.  I stand with a sad heart as I hear and witness acts of violence against brothers and sisters for no reason, or that teens were bored so they decided to take the precious life of another. What has happened to our world and the world of parenting?
2013 has shown that we have lost basic morals, values, in homes, schools, streets and communities. It is fostered by kids who hear, see and witness adults acting like asses on social media, hear rap/hip hop of violence in the streets with disrespect of all living things including Mothers, the President of the United States stated with such vengeance. We do not have to like something, but we certainly need to have respect in order to show our children the way of respect. Where has it gone?

2013, the year of massive disrespect as we saw Alan Thicke and Miley Cyrus on a stage. He a married man, she once a Disney Kid now all but nude "twerking" he committing a public song of "Blurred Boundaries" as the audience dropped their jaws while Miley's tongue appeared the size of a giraffe and her ass became glued to Alan's striped pants.  The money has poured in now for her, she is now known for her tongue, her twerk, and clearly the world went mad as the news continues to promote her with it, people continue to talk about it... Sex sells... as Beyonce's new secret Video that was released proves. Nudity with a voice that is awesome is now hitting big with no release date, no prompts... Beyonce has managed to hit it bigtime with her release for her fans. I can only imagine the teenage and adult males who are getting off to it daily.
HOWEVER, on a great NOTE:
Beyonce does good and great things, she had heard of a dying 12 year old's last wish to dance with her, to be sung to by her... and she made magic happen for that child.  So we must include the fact that Beyonce rose to the occasion, with her best self, the best version of her... no lip syncing, clothes on and was off the hook awesome!
Talent sells as well.
Twerking with talent can sell, IF a person knows how to do it with style. Miley on the other hand in my most humble of opinions has neither, she is as they say; a one trick pony... I would much prefer goin' to the circus.

In other news as we put an end to this year...

The man known as Dick, oops I mean Weiner of New York finally got the message and did not get elected there. No one seems to have heard from him, so I imagine he is texting and happy under his rock.  The new and best gifts for Christmas were unavailable like every other year to purchase, but this year what folks ordered seemed to be delayed by weather, by uPS, USPS, and Fed X, but Target got the prize for messing folks up with the big credit card kafew... talk about bad news... good I do not shop there was my thought.
.............

So then, it seems that many are looking forward to the NEW YEAR once again, and from all I can gather, glean, most are saying that they hope and pray it is a better year than the one we are now putting a close to. Interesting ... I do believe that is what I heard last year being echoed by people. It leads me to wonder.. I am wonder woman after all... I wonder A LOT.

If folks are always wanting a better brighter year each and every year... I wonder what they are doing with each day of the year they are blessed with to make it great, to own it, to claim it as theirs?  Surely something has to be good as we look back on this year...  We lost many wonderful people in 2013, our Nation went through many changes in 2013, each and every individual is going through something, been through something, is up against something, has some choices to make, some stances to take, some things they've walked through in 2013...

Oh yes, 2013 is coming to a close... It's time to make some decisions on what will go with you into the New Year, what will be put in the time capsule, what will be taken forward, what will be put in place to bring to you all that you need to be the best version of you!
I wish you a many colors to paint your rainbow of all that you have to write in your plans, of what to leave, what to take, what you want for you...

2013 was an exciting year here...

Down The Hallway was published in the fall of the year, it is still in infancy and I have great hopes for it in 2014... It now has 14 five star reviews on Amazon! I am honored, I am blessed. My family is alive, we are still enjoying the holidays here in Florida as Kamryn flies between shooting hoops to virtual basketball gaming, then reading then to movies, then to wondering "what's to eat"... Life is good today.
Cuz Angie in VA is working round the clock these days with her residents at the Pulaski Rehab and Health Center making sure they know they are never alone, and feeling love there... D'vante is grown, he is now flying his wings out on his own. This was the first year that the ole' Godmother did not hear from him for Christmas... yes it was painful, yes it will take some getting used to. But, I have memories to sustain me, dreams for him to be safe and to find his place of peace while praying that he feeds the right wolf.  Olivia is on vacation in WVA with the mama and all is bright, all is right, all is safe...
As we begin to close out 2013, may you all know peace, may you all remember laughter, and may you all know how to filter well while not giving away precious space in your brains to those that have no rights to be there....

The Day after.......

Christmas has come, the presents that were under the tree now opened, Santa now full from the cookies and milk around the world... many wondering how is it that it seems to have come and gone so quickly?

Here we are...  the day after Christmas, the day after the day most have been waiting for, the meal eaten, the leftovers probably waiting for us once again today!  Seems it went by so very fast... Christmas 2013 day now here we are, hopefully still jammin' on the feelings, the love, the good will of the holidays. At least that is the hope I have for each and everyone.

As this day finds many still gathered, some on vacations and others who had to return to the grind of work today, may they be filled with the holiday spirit wherever they are, whatever they find themselves doing.

It's interesting how many have the tradition of taking down trees on the day after Christmas, taking down decorations, removing all right after the holiday itself. As the wrapping paper is shredded and put to the trash, this day for so many is a day of putting homes back to order and moving toward the new goal of getting ready for the New Year that is on the horizon.

Preparing, gathering, de-cluttering on the minds of many it seems.

What continues to amaze me? The numbers of ads running on televisions to entice us to HIT the stores today! The extended hours and remarkable sales that "we don't want to miss" as the lines for returns of items that don't fit, or just aren't what we wanted will twist and twirl around the stores... While there, the sales will be deeper than ever we are told, buy this or that we are enticed while there. A day to shop til' you drop once again on this day after Christmas!
Go figure...

I've heard it said that many do their shopping for next Christmas on this the day after Christmas for the best deals, deep discounts... I just cannot imagine. It reminds me of going grocery shopping while with a full belly! Just not appealing to me, but for others, I bet it is just a thrilling shop til' ya drop moment.

Here with mine, we will chill today, we will enjoy the sun, shoot a few hoops and enjoy a few movies and the tradition of watching the Grinch once again. Of course there are the "leftovers"... can't forget those!  And heaven forbid we forget the nap after Christmas day, naps are a great thing, they help the brain to reset the energy of Christmas day excitement.

There are still magnificent Christmas lights to see all over the place that makes the night time drives a delight...  a wonderful way to spend some time together with the volume turned UP as the songs are sung and seeing the fruits of the labor of those you don't know portrayed on their homes in lights of love and cheer.

Yes, Christmas day is now a memory, but the season is still alive as we now prepare to put a close on 2013... It's goin to be a great day today.
................ if you want it to be.

There are those though, (just keepin' it real) who will work their plan to make others feel bad or less than they are. It seems there's always a story of how someone works it to make others feel bad, to harm with words and/or actions toward another. Misery loves company is an old expression with much truth, and still there are those who seem to get great gain from inflicting harm on another. Sage advice under such times: those who set out to make another feel less are saying a lot about them, not necessarily about you. It would serve a person well to remember that, to stand up or walk away from toxicity and free yourself from such harsh words/people/circumstances while living your life to the fullest. Love WINS.
Each of us are responsible for turning our heads around, turning our thoughts around, turning our selves into the best version of ourselves... STOMP

Wishing you a "wicked kewl" day after Christmas!

Happy First Day of Kwanzaa!

Chirstmas Eve ...

Here we are... Christmas Eve ... may those on the roads and at airports arrive or have arrived safely to where they are headed. May our Troops know our hearts are with them, they are in our prayers always as they continue to defend our freedoms wherever they are.

Christmas Eve; as many are still finding that special something or many someone's out on the roads and in stores battling for those deep discounts or last minute thoughts. Others are in grocery stores for the last minute shop, or the thing forgotten. Others are volunteering today, making more for those with less, some with a smile, some with a hot meal, others with clothing and still others with the gift of time here at the holidays.

Spreading cheer, good will, great tidings wherever they go.  Faith Communities are preparing for services to be held, for the community to gather. It is a most wonderful day and will be a most special night around the lands and across the seas.

Just last night it occurred to the Godson that today is Christmas Eve.. he was a bit shocked by it, being sick with a bug he looked rather perplexed. Thinking it was still a few days away.  I too felt the same surprise even though I knew the date! Funny how that seems to happen each year, knowing the date and still feeling surprised it has arrived so soon. The lights are shining, the gifts are under the tree, the jazzy of music and the movies of Christmas are playing... love and kindness in the air.
It is Christmas eve...

Are you as surprised as ME?

Have a remarkable day out there on this 24th Day of December, sure hope you were good all year... and that Old Saint Nick will be stopping by tonight as he flies, making all those stops.

 i believe...

Is it too late to BE GOOD for Christmas?

Making those lists, checking them twice... figuring out who's naughty or nice... Santa's comin to town!

Is it too late? Is there still time to get it right ?

Oh the questions are many, the moods are varied, the running, doing, trying and finding so busy everywhere, everyone...

Oh my goodness, is it too late to be good? That seems to be a question that some are thinkin' a question that has even been heard!

Take Care of YOU, Sunday's blessings!

Happy Sunday to all across the land and sea, as the LIGHT is returning to us! It's officially winter as part of our USA is seeing the winter weather in ice/snow/sleet bring in Christmas, while we here are dancing on the beach getting ready for the magic of the paper wrapping, the twinkle of the lights and this morning looking at the light rising differently... on this 22nd day of December. Soon it will be Christmas day.

Safe travels to those who are on the roads, getting on planes, trains and beginning to get where they want to be... beautiful times to those who are safely tucked where they will be for the holidays, and prayers for those who are going through it, been to it, are walking a road that is theirs alone. May you know peace.

Take best care of YOU, get rest, build up on those Vitamins and the C's as this is the time where the combination of stress and colds/bugs seem to find us at our most vulnerable places.

Wishing you all the magic your heart can hold as the music fills your soul and kindness jumps around and grabs you with love and good intentions.

Happy Sunday, the fire is lit, the embers are crackling with good tidings, thoughts and prayers in the air.
