he has a gentle spirit and a good heart

and he does enjoy a good conversation

Jonny and I have been friends on Facebook for more than a year. He is a fine young man he is! And quite a sense of humor...

I'll be sitting here having coffee, when all of a sudden

Jonny pops up on my chat!

For him in New Zealand it is bedtime, usually 1 or 2 am

and already into tomorrow when he jumps on

to say hello to me, and we have some wonderful conversations.

I've been honored to meet his family through his stories, to learn of his life, his dreams, his hopes for his future.

Jonny celebrated his 18Th birthday a few months ago, he told me of his dream of tasting

"twinkies"

that he had never had a

"Twinkie"

WHAT?

 A kid never knowing the sugar buzz of a twinkie?

He is ever so funny, has strong opinions, a lovely little Grandmother who wakes him from his sleep by walking in and forcefully opening the curtains, telling him

GET UP GET UP

(probably smothering him with kisses if truth were known)

LOL

So, one day, I decided to put a little box of American goodies together and send to my friend Jonny Wong.

IN it:

Twinkies/Moon Pies/Peanut Brittle/those chocolate things that are in a roll/a Tarpon Springs lime green t-shirt/a postcard with a dolphin!

I think I could have used a row boat and gotten it to New Zealand faster, but one day it did actually arrive!

My friend was in SUGAR LAND... and delighted!

He was very funny and quite protective of those Twinkies although many of his friends were ready to trade all sorts of stuff for a "Twinkie"!!!

Well worth the incredible postage involved when balanced with the enthusiasm and gratitude!

So just this week, I'm sitting here working when on my chat Jonny Wong

"pops up" from nowhere land

and from his tired mind

and oh so active creative self

gives me this great story:

However 2 alien thingys survived!

They didn't have any alien technology because they were fully naked at the time of the eruption and so they lost everything.

ROTF ~ and yes I laughed and spit my coffee too.

So after just giggling and giggling, I told Jonny I was just going to have to put that on a blog; and he said he was laughing and just "made it up on the spot for me"

but was very tired ...

I suggested strongly he take his creative butt to bed, so that he would have some of that creative energy for his school the next morning!

I am honored that this young and bright, {and did I mention very funny} young man takes time from his life, his video games and his music,

and "chooses" to chat with me a few times a week!

We talk about philosophy, music, girls, dreams,

silly stuff, or sometimes a quick good morning/sweet dreams...

He wants to someday come to the USA,

to be my bodyguard when I am traveling!

Told him he would have to fight the Godsons' for that position (note to self: they don't chat with me!)

Wherever you are, whatever you are doing today...

Make it count

Everyday is a GIFT

Step out of "self"

and

Into "other"

It is amazing the gifts you receive when that happens,

after all,

look at what we all received from the

Master Wong!!!

FALL MEMORIES

Nana's Girl

Yep, should have put duct tape on her back then!

It's morning... Thursday morning at that!

This morning I am being whisked away for a

"surprise" few days out of town... nope, don't know where I'm headed,

don't know what is in the ole' suitcase even.

Off we go...

How very exciting is it going to be I just ask ya?

Coffee is great this morning, house is

sparkly like a holiday

for the human coming in to be with the littles while gone for a few days!

Have hid the phones so that they don't call out for pizza while I'm gone, and that they don't make long distance calls to Ely MN trying to reach

Lily and HOPE the North American Black bears either.

Can't trust them you know.

As I sit this morning with my thoughts and my coffee, I'm also waiting for my cardinal/red bird to come and greet me. She's taken to coming at first light to a tree right near the screen of the lanai to visit each day.

Haven't seen her mate in a few days, and sure do enjoy her visit.

Oh she is such a doll... we had such fun when she was a wee one, playing in the leaves. She so loved to twirl them in her little hands, to marvel at the colors and textures, to feel their "crunch" as she finished the examination of them and then crushed them well into itty bitty pieces in her hand with her face all scrunched up in delight!

Too funny she is.

She continues to marvel at the wonders of the world, but now is growing like a weed on a summer day;

exploring the world through different eyes,

she used to enjoy the quiet and didn't like the loudness of music,

but

now Paramour is her group, she sings like a rockstar

plays piano, clarinet and has marvelous rhythm that comes from within.

Just as the seasons change with all their splendor

so is she...

growing and changing with each passing season

and

"the mama and Nana"

grieve our little one!

LOL

wanting our baby back...

BUT

embracing our girl and her growth

marveling at her continual kindness and gentle spirit

while balancing those great qualities with

a

fierce independence

and ability of knowing

right from wrong

and

developing a solid sense of self

do you remember

the "look"

ah yes

she is indeed the "mama and Nana's girl"

take a look at

"the look"

YOU DO NOT MESS WITH NANA'S GIRL

and

you do not want to be on the receiving end

of

"the look"

That is NANA'S GIRL

you do not mess with US

and when you get that look

you will really get that!

LOL

Ah, but she had a look like that,

 (in a smaller version) since she was little!

But

a more gentle and wise spirit child you will probably never meet.

Those snows of last year really hit hard in Maryland

I would get phone calls about them, but it was right cold here in Florida too.

Olivia didn't do what most do in those kind of snows and build snowmen/women...

She and the "mama" went outside and built a

daggone "igloo" that could seat 6~!~~

I was ever so impressed I was!

Send me pictures of it too.

And wouldn't you just know it, the snows came again and buried the masterpiece. It was a day or two after that my phone rang with Olivia on the other end saying,

"Hi Nana, I am really really over the snow now"

So for today, I am hoping that Olivia

and

all of you are enjoying the fall, the colors of the leaves

the wonder of your memories

while making some new ones.

I think I'll just have some more coffee and wait for that sun, and wonder where it is I'm venturing off to in a moment or to!

If you don't see anything here for a couple of days,

just know this:

I'll be out of range of my wireless connection

Bears are BEARS are BEARS and are BEARS!

Good crispy morning, still dark but I just know the sun is goin to come up over these trees and shine brightly this morning...
HOPE you are getting ready for an OUTSTANDING day... wherever you are!

Got some great news from Mom yesterday,

she had her last appointment with the surgeon down in NC about the ole shin of hers!

It is HEALING GREAT

NO CANCER

NO PROBLEMS

SHE IS GOOD TO GO AND RUN THE STREETS

WOO HOOO

And
Olivia has her cast off!
She is now in a "boot"
for a month!
Can you say, "NOT HAPPY"
Nope she is not happy about this;
now she has to begin walking with this boot, it is uncomfortable and painful.
In two weeks she can go without the boot while in the home, but must wear it everywhere else.
No crutches; so now she is limping.
The frightening news:
Dr. says he does NOT like how the growth plate
in the ankle looks
and will re-assess it in one month.
WE NEED PRAYERS AND HEALING ENERGY
FOR NANA'S GIRL

So, as for the day:

Those North American Black Bears are denning out there in Ely MN... well, most of them are anyway!

Our Lily and HOPE meanwhile have been hanging out in the low land of a dried up swamp area, leaving everyone worried and wondering if they will choose to den in such a place...So
Yesterday, I got on the Lily page, and encouraged all there to join me in some
STOMPIN for the bears... to collectively get that energy ramped up, to help our bears to move their bear butts up to higher and drier ground... 1.6 miles toward their previously dug den... and then if they want to roam, to play in leaves or lay around... well all righty then!
BUT at least they will be close to the den of choice where it is high and dry for winter...
Many are doing some STOMPIN around the world and sending that message, that remarkable energy to Lily and HOPE... That is some powerful energy!


We are "collectively sending energy via the wireless connection"... GO UP UP UP, to safer and drier ground...

Bears have a way of really letting humans know that we do not "own it",
we

"do not have control"

That's a good lesson to learn over and over!

Perhaps one day it will really sink in.

of folks just getting crazed as a result of a bear

tearing up or going after a birdhouse to get at the seeds.

I can remember living in Northern VA

and just loving spending my dough

on birdseed

only to get my blood pressure boiling when the squirrels would

"have at it"

creative little bushy tails they are,

doing acrobatics and making one

MELL-of-a-hess

in the process.

I would go out and buy the expensive

"squirrel-proof" feeders

feeling quite proud of myself,

locate them in places that no self-respecting

bushy tail would dare to try.

Happy and in control was I.

NOT

Only to look out my window or go out on the deck

to catch the little creative critter

hanging upside down, holding on by a nail

looking like a deer caught in the headlights

with cheeks bulging from the food he had been just been caught stealing

from the

steel enclosed

guaranteed

squirrel proof feeder

JUST HANGING THERE

and then

doing a

cartwheel to escape

and I swear I heard

that bushy tail laugh once

he swallowed his food!

Yep,

But out food and the critters will come,

fair game I'm thinkin.

So a bear with birdseed... they sure would have to eat alot of it to feel full!

Reminds me of baking cookies and leaving them out on the counter and telling the family to

NOT TOUCH

they are for company!

Good luck with that!

We all have those

bushy tail

and

Bear instincts

smell it, see it, want it.

Some just have better self-control

or

fear of what might happen.

Bears in the woods, birdhouse,

hmmm

don't see a problem with that, if I'm a bear!

I know

you are thinking birdhouse on a stick/pole/ expensive to replace...

But folks get frustrated about replacing them I guess.

AND THEN

folks decide in those human brains:

"I am in control,

I am smarter than the average bear"

and so they get very creative!!!

I would not ever suggest that we underestimate the intelligence of a North American Black Bear

as research and Dr Rogers is teaching the world.

So,

HUMAN: "I'll never have to replace another birdhouse if I hang it on a line! This will be just great, no bears/deers/ critters, high up there it will be perfect. I'm a genius"

BEAR: "what was this person thinkin? Dude, we are fantastic with balance and tree climbin? Ever watch Animal Planet? We love challenges too"

BEAR: " Now let's see, I saw someone walk something called a tighty rope through a window somewhere once. Strong I am very strong.. easy - easy - haha"

BEAR" "OK, hand over hand, like those people in the Army, FOCUS, It's all in the balance and the desire."

HUMAN:

"haha, my birds and birdhouse are great up there"

BEAR: "How do you like me now, stretchin is good, man I hope this thing is full of seed n nutz"

BEAR:

"Weeeee, I have hit the mother-load, one thing about his human, he does know his string strength, I have to be sure and tell the clan about this, great fun, seeds, OUTSTANDING. Ok, better get back across there and outa here before human gets home!"

Under the protection of bear spirit

all things are possible, all things are wonderful

and

so

it is good!

What a wonderful View

Looking out

Good mornin, mornin~

As I sit and admire the darkness of morning with coffee smellin great in my favorite cup this morning... I'm thinking of how remarkable the quiet is.

I asked for a lovely photo for fall,

and Diana sent this one to me!

She's one of Lily The Black Bears' fans on

Facebook

and says this is what she sees out her window.

Quite a remarkable view isn't it.

What is your favorite view out your window?

and then:

What is your favorite view from your

minds' eye, or the window of your soul?

Those are the two questions for today's page!

Soon the leaves that were green will turn to browns, after the splendid reds and golds and hues of in between colors.

Rakes will come out, little ones will run and play and jump in them.

The sounds will crunch under feet, and

folks will be out and raking up piles and piles of them.

AND

little kids and the kid in the big kids will eye ball them and wait til the mound is just right and then make their move!

Running with joy to jump right in there and have a ball!

Oh how that evokes memories!

I can remember those days of burning piles of leaves, and their wonderful smells,

nothing quite like it.

Even had Granny with a rake in her hand and she was probably 80 then!

We got a great laugh about that,

not many leaves got raked, but it was just the

idea of it!

The crispness in the air, the colors of fall

and those mums that gardeners go out and buy and plant by the dozens.

I can remember pullin in the driveway once and the entire yard was filled with pots of mums;

every color you can imagine!

An early birthday gift for me to plant at my home; boy oh boy was I ever tickled.

My tickled got worn off after about the 7th hole was dug if memory serves me right ~

Fall in all its wonder.

Diana Burgess sure does have a beauty to look at from her window as she watches those spectacular colors change now.

AND

as we go from the joy of the many colors,

it reminds me of the dark months coming,

when the colors will fade to brown

and fall from the trees,

the bareness that will soon be here

as all living things will go to den,

to hibernate for the winter

to restore

to rest
