Sunday Morning HOPE

Lily and HOPE
the North American Black Bears
><
Perhaps the most famous
North American Black Bears
in
The World!

Lily the Black Bear gave us
HOPE
and
from there a world went just wild!
and
today
that world is grieving terribly
while still wanting to hold
strong
to
HOPE
that
the yearling
young female bear named
HOPE
is alive
and wandering somewhere out there in the woods...
BUT
it is looking like she may
now be a statistic and have been shot by a hunter
as
the
local paper out in MN
reports in yesterdays' interview
with
Lynn Rogers the NABC researcher
who says
HOPE WITH SOME EARS ON HER!

the world watched as Lily the Black bear gave birth to
HOPE
 via a live web cam
in a den
in
Ely MN
and from there the rest has been a roller coaster ride of emotions; a time of remarkable events to many to try and list here.
Fans from around the world have donated monies, have given til it hurts to a little community in MN on behalf of the
North American Black Bears
and
they have been captivated
by
Lily and HOPE!
The update on the Lily page
came to the fans after midnight
last night!
It was late even for the page;
and
it told them that
they are "waiting for confirmation"
from the DNR tomorrow...
And it just seems it was not
written by either Dr Lynn Rogers or his associate
Sue M.
and it talks about the bears, about their wondering if they did all they could to protect
HOPE
and
it went on about seeing a Goshawk in the window
of where they sit out there in Ely MN.
It talks about them not being able to walk with all the bears all the time
and
how young HOPE liked to "slip her radio collar"
and
about the rights of hunters
and
it just went on
to say that they are now making the facebook page a "kinder and gentler page" for the fans?
Wonder how that fits in
when the page was so kind in the last 48 hours of those who are posting pictures,
thanking the researchers and thanking each other
with their call to "togetherness"...
AND
wonder who in the world wrote all of that
anyway?
It does not change the reality
that
HOPE
appears
to
be
GONE FROM SIGHT
while last night
a gentleman posted a picture
of a young man in the back of a pick up truck looking ever so proud of himself squatting beside a dead bear; a recent kill.
And near the neck of the bear appeared to be pink ribbon or a part of one.
He thought it might alert the researchers
and
perhaps it was
HOPE, or Donna
bears that have "gone missing"
and
oh you should have seen the pride in the fellas' face that he had in fact killed him a bear.
The timing of the picture was terrible
as thousands are bracing for horrible news
and
it was seen.
Folks asked whoever is now the MODerator to remove it, and the posts about it;
but it remained in the photos there.
It made me wonder
by that and many of the posts throughout the night...
"where are the moderators that have made the
Lily the Black Bear page one of safety and regulation and safety"
the ones who usually put up with a lotta crap,
but
protect the bears, the researchers, and the fans
from
each other; the press, the media,
and
cyberspace?
They must not be there since all of this is happening now.
Oh
it is a stressful time
in
the world of
North American Black Bears.
Those volunteers were recruited trained and worked hard to moderate a fan page on Facebook with more than 100 thousand fans and emotions at times ran wild with joy, with upset, with anger
ranging from birthday parties each Friday for
HOPE
including pictures
to fund raisers to lower the dept
of the bear center
to auctions and drawings
and
things you just cannot imagine!
Tempers would flare
opionions would rage and roar
and
folks would bluster and blister and hug and hum
and
thank goodness there were moderators to watch the page
but
I wouldn't want that job for all the
berries off the tree
bear or not!

Months ago,
Lily and HOPE went into a den
and
Lily gave us twins!
with
HOPE there as well;
and
one died
as we watched nature and its ways
and
many would say that
little Jason had a trauma and many felt that those in the "know" knew before they shared it with thousands...
BUT
Little Jason died and then the drama began on how his little body would be handled.
AND
now
there is
FAITH
which is holding folks together with
HOPE
that
HOPE will emerge from a den, from the woods
from
someone's kitchen
and
since she has been known as
fiercely independent
as
sassy pants
as
"the untouchable one"
it is easy to see how no one wants to say
"she is gone from sight for good".
We remember when she was just a "wee one" and when we saw them "walking away" and our hearts just melted as we put our human emotions on them... and we had to call our hearts in line to remember.... "they are WILD BEARS IN THE WOODS"... doing what bears do....

BUT
she was so amusing
so
delightful
so
precious
so
Independent
sooooo
HOPE

AND
we are
SOOO HUMAN

We still want things to be how we want them;
we do not like change
nor
threat
nor
reality of the wild
the untamed
the
reality of
how very fragile life is.
It can all change in the flicker of a firefly.
><

BUT
we all should be able to expect honesty, integrity, and those who know to let us know
what is going on when it is happening and how it is happening.
We should be able to hear differing ideas, feelings and thoughts
without speaking harshly
or
ugly
or
with such rabid responses.
We may not like things
We may advocate for change
and
we may have to deal with the fact that some things are not going to change.
It is then that we are challenged to change ourselves.

><
the challenges of thinking that a little North American Black Bear that has been watched since its first breath
may have been shot by hunt season
is heart wrenching.
It is painful.
Yes
it is all that and it is more.
The thought that research bears are now becoming so humanized that they will walk up to humans will in fact place them in harms way
and
I do not believe that can possibly be a good thing in the woods for anyone.
someone will be harmed and
I feel that is harmful
to the very spirit of
the North American Black Bear.
At what point
do we
Stand for what is in the best interests of
the four leggeds.
Lily the North American Black Bear....
and where is she ??? Remembering these are Bears in the wild doing what bears do, I suppose it is not up to me to wonder such things... and

IF HOPE is now in spirit land, it does not really matter how it is that she got there, but only that I am grateful that I was honored to see her get here, to this earth; to grow, to play and to do what cubs do... and in the process to learn; to witness something remarkable and to learn more on "human behavior" along the journey of bears while being amazed at each bluster and oh what "scat" there is wherever you go.

Bless you all for maintaining HOPE and hold tight dear ones to FAITH during storms and times of uncertainity... Remembering who you are during it all, and riding the tides of change as u remember, change is the only constant in the world...

Today
may you find comfort,
May you find the strength to stand,
to embrace the light
and
to remember good or great times
><
With passion, with laughter
and
to remember that many around you
need you to care gently

for all that enter here
who are fighting battles
we must also stand for each other
with
kindness, compassion, dignity, respect, honor, and
with tenderness in understanding.

Today I stand with and beside you
in knowing
that things are not always what they have appeared
or what is being told.
empower yourself

Dear Dr. Sherry, such touching and uplifting words this day. Our sadness and sorrow for the loss of sweet Hope is very difficult but we need to keep in mind that that is life, and death, in nature and in the life of wild bears. It is so unfortunate if indeed a hunter took her young life. I will never understand the need to Kill - take a life of the innocent. Unless for the need of food and survival of man it makes no sense to me. As the "Lily the Bear" world watches and we waits for the news we need to think of the times we have watched and loved that little bear from birth to now and cherish those memories.

My prayers for those listed and for you Dr. Sherry. Prayers also for all those who stop by here today that this Sunday will be a Blessed, Happy and Healthy one. Love Sandy♥

Jennie Jones: yup, hope is gone and it is days later and the saga continues sucking all the emotional feelings from everyone and still no answer. And what of Lily and Faith? No one is asking. Everyone is so upset over Hope that they have already forgotten Lily and Faith for the moment. And the heart with hope written in it on the mushroom on the tree, I found to be playing an emotional card on us fans especially since the person saying they did it never does stuff like that. Being despondent makes us weaker and we don't see what is going on. People need to step away from that for a while and get some perspective.
btw doc, the only one with no social graces is those that come onto another person's page and start attacking them. Great post today. LOVE it. Keep it real doc and truthful..as always

Wonderful words shared Dr. Sherry. Hope did not want to be collared they tried their best. Hope was her own independent self. It truly doesn't matter how she met her spiritual life. She has crossed over and is joining all of her ancestors. Like they say...over the Rainbow Bridge. She won't be hungry or cold. I've watched her being born and followed her as she grew into a wonderful big sister. I will continue to pray for Lily and Faith. May they survive the winter without our little Ho Ho! Which I will miss terribly. Your words are very comforting on this gloomy Sunday. Take care Dr.
