HAPPY NEW YEAR!

JANUARY 1, 2010

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Wishing you and yours a Very Happy and Prosperous New Year! The fireworks continue to bang, explode, crackle and pop... while they startle the dogs here in Tarpon Springs Florida; the ball has dropped in Times Square... we've watched our movies and ate banana splits; laughed and enjoyed the evening... the championship bowling match has ended and of course the little kid won!!! No news on that one.

I hope that all have had a wonderful and safe evening. Dick Clark still rocked the night and we all remembered "back in the day" of  American Bandstand!

Today marks new beginnings for all; a new year, new day. A great day to have a listen to Patti Labelle sing her song titled "New Attitude"!  Great song, if you haven't heard it before you should give it a listen. The new year has its start with a gentle rain here, perhaps a good start for the new year. A purifying start to a new year; a cleansing if you will.

This may be a good day to start off with a morning ritual for yourself; maybe lighting a candle and taking a moment for mindfulness; concentrating on your breathing.... visualize your day as new, fresh, and being open to receive goodness and to give goodness in your thoughts and interactions.

This day may be the beginning of good thoughts; good feelings, good things. It may be that you are the warrior you see in others and admire. It all begins with you and it begins within. Look within...

As Judy Garland said, "Always be the first rate version of yourself instead of a second rate version of somebody else".

We can all correct the errors and regrets of the past and pick up the new ideas and desires and healing ways of the future, when we are open to the want of the now.  That takes a bit of thought doesn't it?

Best said are the words of Maya Angelou...
"If you don't like something, change it... If you can't change it, change your attitude".

Maybe we should adopt an attitude or mantra on the first day of this New Year and use it multiple times a day; make it our own until it becomes a part of our lives...

Food for thought for the New Year:

As the fireworks blast off in the night air and the blue moon teases us through the fog and the clouds,

I wish you all you can wish for... I wish you enough. The sacred hoop and the the fluidity of movement as dancers dance on the beach at sunset will fill your senses if you let them... I hope you will let them. We all have the ability to overcome great challenge, struggle and heartache... we all have choices with each breath and each new day.

I hope you dance; I pray you peace, I sing you health on the winds and to the heavens.  Hold tightly to that which is important to you and give yourself permission to let the rest go.

Walk In Beauty into the New Year!

2009 has been a difficult year and was made more heart wrenching with the passing of my father on 27 November at the age of 89 after being in Hospice Care for only two months. I am amazed at the grace, stamina and warmth that hospice workers provide. I am ever grateful for those individuals who pass our way in life enriching our lives in ways that we have yet to discover. I hope that 2010 brings wisdom to each of us to live life to the fullest and enjoy those who are a part of our lives. Donna Baker Morrow in memory of Paul James Baker.
