THOUGHTS FOR A NEW YEAR

The New Year Is Really Here

"The Death of Fear is in Doing What You Fear to do" (Sequichie Comingdeer)

Time for the kids to get back to school, time for people who have been on vacation to get back to work! Time to tell and to hear the stories of the holidays, wear the new outfits and share in the "hallmark moments" and the great snowfall and cold weather tales!

We've survived the holidays and put 2009 to bed!  The stores have cleaned up the messes of last minute shoppers and discounted the merchandise of the holidays, probably as low as it will go... or then again maybe not!  They are busy stocking the shelves for Valentine's Day you can be sure.

Old Man Winter has made his mark on many towns and city across the country and the cold weather has made us all shiver and saiy, "this has got to be the coldest winter I can remember"!

If we can look upon this winter and these things as opportunities to stand on new and hard ground, then strength and courage will be on our side. If we can accept the cold and the snow as a means for being at one with ourselves we can grow stronger; we can heal, we can grow and connect with our body-soul-spirit reclaiming balance!

Of course we've been waiting for a time for everything to be "just right", and there have been times those moments for all of us brief as they were; that filled our hopes... perhaps 2010 is our time! A time to face face the challenges, the struggles, the pain or grief.

Perhaps 2010 is the time... the time to know that we can restore the balance to our worlds.  It is the time to remember that we can choose to heal our pain of challenges, struggles and heartache... Sometimes things do work out; bodies do heal; pain does lessen, people are good, behaviors do change, moods do stabilize, people do change, friends can be made and sustained.  Things like this do happen; not because I say so, but because I have seen it and I believe this to be true and because I believe in the resiliency of the human spirit.

It is a New Year; a time of new beginnings.. It is a time for renewal and healing. Stay on your path, be still and stay the course. If you cannot change what is, change your attitude or change your path! Walk toward a light that never goes our and hope for a brighter tomorrow being all that you can be to add to the brilliance of the flame for yourself and for others.

Walk in Beauty in all ways with your head held high...

You are A Survivor

You are someones legacy

You are the keeper of the flame

You are your most valuable resource

I wish you enough

One word in this blog stuck out "Sometimes."
"Sometimes things work out." That means sometimes things do not work out. I have enjoyed your introduction to animal totems as a healing tool. Think you also said to beware of things that sound too good. It is amazing how quickly free or $2.00 drumming circles can turn into $200.00 "let me shamanic journey for you." Since many of us are living on fixed incomes...figured my library was more afforable. Being "new" at "looking" at animals...at least they fend for themselves...they see others as predators...they run when need be...they startle easily....they are mindful of their surroundings. Must share a remarkable true animal story. FedEX misdelivered a package to me...thought it was a gift and opened it without looking at the teeny tiny address. The box contained 300...yes 300 very big, long, and very expensive feathers according to the invoice. FedEX asked me to keep the feathers inside ( safe & dry ) until they could pick them up to redeliver. Guess I did not need to spend even a penny to learn feathered creatures have a message for me.
Thanks for your native american teachings...it is the main reason I read these blogs.

Had a thought for those od us who have absolutely no purpose in this life...the ones who do not have anyonne to call, write, e-mail, send a letter to...theose us who cannot work and cannot volunteer...those of us who with zero purpose. Maybe we can make or write out dollar store valentines for others who have no one in this world...but how would not so smart people figure out where to mail them to?
