In The Arms of the Angels

WE REMEMBER
We pay tribute and honor the fallen
...
Memorial Day Week-end
...
Here the rains were forcast at 40% and as I sit with coffee,
with plans to join dear friends for a day on the water, and memories of remembering along with times of laughter and relaxing and a fired up grill,
I sit and watch as the rains
fall with fierceness now!
That 40% giving us all
as a strong reminder
that some gave
ALL
for those freedoms we have
to sit and enjoy the rains
while others walk the
Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
24/7 365 days a year
in sun/rain/sleet/snow
honoring, protecting.
While others are sleeping on sand with a M-47 in their hands
and others are fighting with underwear changed every 4 months and havent had a steak in a year
protecting our freedoms
while we are firing up the grill
or making other plans
today
after waking and taking a shower
and fussing over the weather,
and somewhere someone is playing
TAPS
protected by their brothers in Uniform by heavy weaponry on each side as they mourn losses on a hillside in hell on earth.
Oh the rains are really coming down now.
Thank you To all who serve
and those who gave all
for our freedoms.
{perhaps if it is raining where you are today, you can see it as a hiccup} or a gift!

My, how the Sunday list has grown.
Thank you military, past & present for defending our country, for our freedom and for continued service.
Thinking of my dad, Frank, the
"F" in FIRM, for giving all, surviving the POW camps of WWII, coming home, making a life and having a family. Blessings to all on this weekend to remember, reflect, reveal & honor.
I can smell the salt water, the sea is calling and I am FIRM.

My dad was a WWII Vet. He was 1 of the 14 soldiers on a special operations mission on the eastern front of Russia, as the U.S. was an ally to Russia at that time. The details of their mission were to be forgotten, and never discussed, even among these 14 soldiers. When my dad passed away, he was the last remaining member of that special operations misssion. For more than 60 years he kept his word, and never talked about it. When his medals arrived from the Russian Embassy in Washington, he was intervied by the local T.V. station, and the local newspaper did an article on him. When they ask my dad about this "special mission of 14 men"--all he would say was that he received an education that you could not get from Harvard or Yale, and left it at that. He wasn't budging. Took em' 60 years to get their medals, which none of them ever knew they were even gonna receive. The weight of the world is on all soldiers in service, as it was on these 14 men, many many years ago. I developed a new appreciation for "Freedom" during those 4 years of taking care of my dad in my home when he could no longer walk and was bedfast. Veterans, and those who continue to serve, NEVER can have enough Respect and Honor, in my opinion. No matter how much we honor them, it is never enough. I understand "Rolling Thunder", and it is more than just a once a year bike ride. It lives in my heart, and what a beautiful display of HONOR and RESPECT.

Dear Dr. Sherry and friends. I hope the weather has gotten better there for you today and you are able to be outside on the water with friends. Thank you for your message. So much to be so thankful for and those brave military Men and Women and the four leggeds as well I hold my heart and bow my head to them in Honor, Thanks and Blessings for them and families of the fallen. As we celebrate this Memorial Day may we all be grateful and thankful for this home and our freedom for all they did and do.

A very long prayer list this day and I raise prayers for each of them as I read the names. Praying for Ali and her Veteran Father, for Thomas O'Brien and his Mother Debbie and his four legged furry friend, for ee, Dr. Sherry and her family in VA and the Rolling Thunder also. Thank you Dr. Sherry for holding my Sis Carol and her four legged friend Gitche in prayers. We are having difficulty getting the meds down him but he is home and doing pretty good so far since the extensive surgery Friday.

Take care my friends, enjoy this long holiday weekend and be safe and in remembrance as we count our Blessings every day. /Sandy♥
