Sunset at the Grand Canyon ~

‎"One of the most effective ways to overcome anxiety is to try to shift the focus of attention away from self and toward others. When we succeed in this, we find that the scale of our own problems diminishes.
This is not to say we should ignore our own needs altogether, but rather that we ...should try to remember others' needs alongside our own,
no matter how pressing ours may be"
{Dalai Lama}

Good morning morning; this picture was taken at sunset at Hopi Point on the Grand Canyon...
AND
I gotta tell ya, when darkness falls on the Grand Canyon
DARKNESS FALLS~
but it seems if you just were about
5'10 and stretched really really tall
you would leave there with a star in your pocket!
I tried and tried, jumped and jumped
threatened to climb up on Mom, Linda and Dorothy's shoulders...
I was just that close to those brilliant stars!

There was no anxiety with all that splendor, all that beauty... only great gratitude. Joyous laughter,
me offering to take pictures for others there who were witnessing the same
"Awe"
Laughter, silence, tears of amazing grace to stand overlooking such wonder.
The colors that played across the vast expanse changed right before our very eyes as the sun started to go down on a glorious day... folks went from one edge of the rim to the other to capture it with their eyes, their cameras.
The many languages that were heard, the rituals that were observed being held quietly, privately although so many were there; respectful and honored by all.
As His Holiness states above:
we should try to remember others needs alongside with ours ...
and it was so that wonderful day at the Grand Canyon.
Even at the end of the day, after the sun had set, the winds gathered to remind folks that the chill was coming to celebrate the night-ness, to notice all directions, all things.
Then came the lines; had to get in those that were there for the buses... but for the most part the moods did not darken like the night sky, the wonder remained.
The stars were so very bright, and the Grand Canyon was lost to the night we stood with others and their conversations could be heard of how very remarkable the sunset had been, their thoughts of all they had observed.
Mom and Aunt Linda had never been there before, they were still amazed at the beauty and wonder of it all.
We were on a natural high from the day; closer by the experiences shared; the wonder, the beauty,
The Universal Oneness of God's spirit that had brought us to this place together for this very sacred and joyous experience.
The memories were etched in our hearts and our minds.
What fun, adventure, what grace in that place....
And what a change in altitude from here at sea level!
I think I bumped into people three feet away from me for the first two days of the trip, don't know why, might have been the Vortex, the altitude or just plain out giddy over each step I took!
At some point on the forever ride on that bus, it became clear to all that boy oh boy it is as chilly at night as it is dark ~ and we did not have a clue where we were, and on top of all of that, we were of the few who were not in possession of a flashlight!
BUT,
at the last stop we did find a great gift shop
with the perfect hoodie!!!
YEP
bought me one first thing and it felt great.
After finding the car by way of that cute little thingie called the "remote alarm", we were on our way for the
2 + hour ride back to Sedona, as Rainman would say, "Dorothy is an excellent driver"
with me huddled in the back seat in my brand new Grand Canyon Hoodie, I was all good!
After collapsing in the bed I remembered and laughed alot that "I had an app" for a flashlight on my phone!
Haven't lived that one down yet!
Back in the bed at Poc Diablo where the graduation ceremony had been held... just earlier that day..
we had sure put a lot into one day I was thinking.
ONE very remarkable day indeed.
I have not ever been surrounded by such intense beauty, all around me.. and those with me?
Awe inspiring folks from all across the world, each a shining light of beauty within and around; so open to spirit, to each other; their hugs of genuine warmth and love...
And then there was this couple; I sat by Lee he was quite an elegant gentleman with such a beautiful soul... Now Lee is married to Mortonette...
Stay with me here.
Mortonette is just flat out gorgeous inside and out;
and when that woman ended our ceremony with song...
OMG
I had a hold of Lee and together we wept, we rocked back and forth and
Mortonette sang like her very life depended on it!
She was INCREDIBLE
She has CD's availabe, and I'll find out about that
so you can order yours!
I have to have that song she sang at the ceremony,
It filled me up, you could have picked me up from the highest of the Red Rocks
good thing there was a ceiling is all I can tell you
and great thing I had Lee to hold on to
as she filled that room
and all of our hearts and souls with her song
"She has some pipes"
hahaha
Blessings to you both,
It was an honor to call you brother and sister
<>

But most importantly the day was brilliant, the words of His Holiness Dalai Lama never seemed to fit more; great memories were made that day...
It is also quite hard to experience anxiety when you are singing "Oh Happy Day" or "Happy Birthday"
so next time you feel that anxiety crawling in,
JUST SING
or read this over again!

Wherever you are and whatever you are doing,
Choose to breathe deeply
Love Deeply
Step out of YOU and into others to lighten your load
and theirs
STOMP

F A L L into this Wednesday, season change !
Enjoyed reading about the Grand Canyon, sunset, cool temps, flashlight (LOL)
Life ever-changing, as the light changes at the Grand Canyon, time of day/nite, seasons, all affect the way it looks. So with people, we can tell how they feel by LOOKING at them.
Have a wonderful day, filled with "lightheartedness", but stay FIRM

The picture of the Grand Canyon is awesome. It is so beautiful and the beauty would take you days to run from one side of the canyon to the other to try and see it all. The view is from God and we all do appreciate its beauty. What a happy place, it brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it and trying to understand how anything of that beauty got that way. It surely was an act of God. The lights with the sun going down was so awesome and everyone around was taking in the beauty and they were from all places. I could just pull down a star or even the sun as it was setting. When the sun finally set it was very dark, just like someone all of a sudden cut off the lights. Sheer beauty. Hope everyone will go someday and see the beauty of the Canyon.
