The NBA does more than shoot the hoop

Michael Jordan Flight School 2012
as he talked to the kids there bout learning, about focus and livin the dream!
The National Basketball Association *NBA*
has let those affected by Super Storm Sandy know that they are about so much more than focus, style and shooting the hoops now.
As the Miami Heat travel amidst the devastation and sit in buses and tweet and such things the long lines of traffic; some were thinking it is a tip off that should not happen at all given the heartaches suffered ...
Miami is no stranger to hurricanes and their aftermath. Yet it will happen, and people will come, the Mayor wants it to happen there in NY, to bring alive tradition and those things that restore resiliency and normalacy and money to the state ...
Dwayne Wade thought it should be postponed and he also made a decision to help. He is donating he entire salary from that game, $210,000.  to charity from that night in NY of balling.  You can be sure he is recruiting others to do the same...
Other organiztations have contributed; the LA Lakers will donate $50,000.00 for relief efforts and support and they will match up to $50,000. in fan support to the Red Cross!

The NBA  will donate $1 million to aide post-Sandy support and recovery! Bravo NBA and those who play the game.
We hear of the musicians and the celebrities who are now having shows and doing such great work, and now we are hearing of the ballers, those who are on the court making a difference in the lives of so many. They are not only making a difference for those affected by the super storm Sandy; but they are the role models of young boys and girls who want to find their own passion or have found it, who are now on teams and wearing uniforms to represent teams or those very players who are giving up their salaries as they play the Knicks in Madison Square. They are learning an important lesson by Dwayne Wade in giving and oh how good that lesson will serve them as they may now dig into piggy banks or through their closets taking their old shoes and some clothes to the American Red Cross or local places where drives are being held and trucks being loaded for NYC or NJ.  It's all better than great for kids to see the efforts of one that they look up to, and one from the courts as they are often in rec centers and in the courts across the lands.  Thank you NBA, thank you Dwayne Wade for your love, your care, your passion, both on and off the court. Bet that traffic was terrible up there as you sat and had to look out the window knowing there was little you could do to make things better, yet you have done more than you will ever know.

Some will step up, others will dribble and still others will shoot the hoop while many will sit on the sidelines and find fault... We now see so many who are coming full center of the court to lend a hand, to put it all out there for the benefit of others in need. Great lessons for our children, and we can all bet that they are watching...  People are standing UP, and for that today we give great thanks and a shout out to all...

The fire is burning brightly and the sage is in the air:

Hello Dr. Sherry and friends. It sure gets quiet around here at times. Hope everyone is well. I hope Dot/Mom/Cob had a safe trip home and is enjoying the evening with Kamryn. I know he missed her very much. I am happy she had such a good long visit with you Dr. Sherry. Still thinking and praying for all those who were touched by the devastation of the storm. It is great that so many are contributing to the loss. Twas a busy day for me but a grand day with part of my family. Today is my brother's birthday so we met for lunch and celebrated. It was a very nice time and enjoyed being together.

Wishing you a peaceful Sunday evening as we get rested to start a new week tomorrow. Take care friends. /Sandy♥
