Chapel of the Holy Cross Sedona Arizona

WOW

Remarkable
Awe-Inspiring
Amazing
Breath-Taking
Life Affirming
Overwhelming

And those are just the beginning of the many emotions, visions, feelings thoughts
of the trip, the joys tears and experiences
shared with my family
new friends made

and
How are all of you this wonderful
Monday?

Walking up to this most Creator filled place, we were surrounded by the presence of the Universal Oneness of spirit; the sacredness surrounded us,
and we learned of the history;

The first conception came to Marguerite Bruswig Staude in 1932 in New York City while observing the newly constructed Empire State Building. When viewed from a certain angle a cross seemed to impose itself through the very core of the structure. She wanted to build a structure that would glorify her Creator and in thanksgiving for all that her family had received. She traveled throughout Europe looking for the ideal location.
She returned to the United States and while her and her husband Tony traveled through Sedona, she was struck by the beauty of the area and decided that this chapel should be built here. .

“This would be a monument to faith, but a spiritual fortress so charged with God, that it spurs man's spirit godward".
Built on a twin pinnacled spur about 250 feet high, jutting out of a thousand foot red rock wall, "solid as the Rock of Peter" the building of the Chapel was completed in April 1956. Just the physical construction was a physical miracle, overcoming difficult conditions to construct this chapel.

The message of the Chapel
"That the Church may come to life in the souls of men and be a living reality is renewed and observed each day. Even as we speak it invites all to come to spend time to get connected with their creator.
The Diocese of Phoenix and St John Vianney parish has maintained and administered the Chapel since 1969. We are only caretakers of this most spiritual structure, where all are welcomed to come, meditate, pray and be reconnected with their Creator. We are here to pass this on to those who come after, so the Chapel may glorify the great gifts God has given us. In our transient existence, in good times and bad, we are here to be united with all in faith and purpose. To live in peace and unity with all our brothers and sisters."

This Chapel of the Holy Cross is filled with spirit, surrounded by the power of the Ancestors; the Red Rocks... as if Gods own hands hold and protect it, bless those who walk in and around ... it seems the clouds sit right on top of it even smiling there...

I can only hope that this photograph will fill you, warm your spirit, your soul and you can feel the majesty as I did on that day. You can be certain that more photographs will be shared with you along with messages ... with stories....
It was a remarkable trip...

As Dr Masters said during the ceremony of graduates,
"the proof is in the pudding" and as we climbed toward this Chapel... still unable to imagine how in the world it was built into these Red Rocks; what a wonderful expression and how very filled with truth those words are...

Yep, that's me there so little at the bottom of those Red Rocks and that most remarkable Chapel; that sacred little structure that is visited by people from all over the world, where the candles burn, and prayers are heard across the Universe...
And for all
I give profound and great thanks
And So it Is

Walk In Beauty,
DRSES

The fire is burning brightly and its embers are hot, with thoughts on the wind for all who's names are listed here, you know who you are.

I had the privledge and honor of accompaning Sherry and her family on this wonderful occasion. I'd like to share a bit with you about the trip.
The PhD graduation ceremony was beautiful. The honoring of the graduates was an awe inspiring experience. I think Sherry is too humble to boast, but Dr. Masters, the founder of the University, broke with 50 years of tradition to open the program by holding up Healing Heartaches and honoring Sherry for her accomplishments. He spoke about her life's work and shared with the audience how one person, each person, can change the world, one day at a time in the giving of their own gifts.
Never have I been more proud of my best friend.

Having known Sherry for for over 35 years I have witnessed first hand her work, her many gifts and talents, her giving heart and her healing ways, and still, this was unlike all other moments when I felt grateful for the special gift she has been to my life and the lives of so many others.

We met graduates from all over the world, from all walks of life. Accomplished people with big and unique dreams. It was such a special occasion. As a part of the PhD program, each graduate earned the dual honor of PhD and their Ministerial Ordnation. Their ministerial vows were taken as a part of the graduation ceremony. The Very Reverened, Dr. Sherry E. Showalter and her esteemed collegues stood together in a much deserved celebration.

Words cannot really express the utter beauty and spirituality of Sedona. Having never been there before, it is easy to see why so many people make the red rocks their home. It is somehow uniquely tranquil. The days filled with clear skys and blazing brilliant sun, the nights dark, the sky alight with a million stars. Living at sea level, the high altitude added to the feeling of lightness. And yes, the chapel was breathtaking.

I hope Sherry will share more of the stories. The entire trip with all it's special moments was perfect. If you can visit Sedona, you should. Be prepared to be inspired and renewed. What a special spiritual and sacred place. I wish for each of you a chance to share this beautiful, peaceful and sacred place.
