Thanksgiving, Turkey, Today BLACK FRIDAY!

I hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving,
that you filled your hearts, your senses with love, with joy, with remembrances of times that filled you as much as that meal you ate!
I pray that our troops all over the place had the time to enjoy something good to eat, had the opportunity to hear the voices of those they love and maybe even were able to take advantage of modern technology and Skype of see loved ones from a distance while defending our country and then were able to sit down their helmets and weapons to enjoy some football and just enjoy themselves for a while as so many did yesterday with a fully belly and a heart of gratitude.
I wanted more stick matches as I soon lost count over and again of the blessings I was counting, and then I thought sidewalk chalk would be better as I visualized the many colors and the /////////// I could make all over the place as I smiled, cried and counted more and more with colors until eating myself silly!
Oh it was a day of thanks and a day of great smells here as the little 4 leggeds hovered in the kitchen and gave their own blessings each time something fell or just looked to darn cute to ignore.
And then it occurred to me, between exciting moments of football that just took me from my turkey induced inability to move as I was glued to the excitement...
How in the world can people entertain the idea of leaving the comfort of their homes and have the energy to shop on a day such as Thanksgiving?
They must have eaten a T.V. dinner or better yet an apple, but surely they could not have eaten what most of us do and still have the want of leaving home nor the desire.
Yet they did and they stood in lines and they are now out there, running and flying around like monkeys without a chain searching for that great deal!
BLACK FRIDAY
and yet on social media and the news all we hear is about the "fiscal cliff", those who are blaming the President for our problems, those who would rather quit jobs than take pay cuts and the fat cats at the top of major companies who surely do not shop on a Black Friday as we all know.
But yet, as the negative and the whiners continue to say what we do not have and how very bad things are; today they are out there spending money like nobody's business, and that is enough to just boggle the mind in my way of thinking.
It's a great day to buy a T.V. yet it was a great day last week I suppose as they sure aren't as expensive as they used to be.
The computers bought today on Black Friday will be out of date come first of the year, and then the sales will be deeply discounted on Christmas eve, yet the ones who say they have no money will then have less I guess.
Black Friday
I do believe it is the excitement of it all, the "living on the edge" for some or the ability to find a bumper sticker that you can then put on your car that says,
"I survived Black Friday".
Yet this morning I have seen folks asking others to "boycott Walmart" for Black Friday?
Somehow that just doesn't make sense; when millions shop there, where it employees folks from 16-89 there and where today folks are filling the isles with savings in their eyes.
Is it me?
I remember hearing where Best Buy went bankrupt, yet they are also having Black Friday sales? I would not shop in a Best Buy Company if the store was empty and a 50" T.V. was being sold for 2.99.  As I have told everyone for many years we are consumers, and we do business based on how we are treated. Well, I was treated poorly here by Best Buy and make it a point to share that with anyone who will listen after purchasing a T.V. there based on being given certain information. Once it was delivered, it was discovered it was the "wrong T.V.", so upon returning it, I was then charged a $800.00 restock fee, although I had informed them of exactly what had transpired.
Yes, $800.00 re stock fees.
That did it for me.
Needless to say, that was the very last day I have ever set foot in a Best Buy and have indeed shared with all after a series of attempts to resolve and make right their stupidity and lack of customer service at their corporate offices from here.
...
The moral of the story?
YOU are the consumer, and you decide where and with whom you do business.
Yet today? Well seems the gloves are off as folks have stood in lines, now will grapple and run and grab for whatever it is they are looking for in order to find the best sale, the best deal.
I wish them all the best.
Yet I still find it amazing that so many of those who are out there are the very same ones who gripe and complain about things being so bad, the economy being so bleak and money being hard to come by.
Retailers are holding their breath and counting the til, and for them I wish a prosperous holiday season and may they remember to treat their employees gently and well.
As for those who are working?
Take a breath, remember customer service and remember YOU are working, and that is a very good thing.
I do believe good times are coming as we are seeing jobs and the housing markets start to turn around.
It's official, the turkey and the dishes are done,
the HOLIDAYS ARE HERE
load up on Vitamin C friends, load up on some B-12 and take best care of you.
Enjoy those turkey sandwiches and remember to extend a kindness to someone along the way.
HAPPY FRIDAY
to each and everyone out there today.
Stay safe and keep your doors locked being mindful of your surroundings.
Not everyone is as lovely as you are and it is helpful to remember that.

EXACTLY!!!!!!!!! Whole dang blog----my sentiments exactly. Even if I felt better, I would NOT be at Black Friday-----I don't like to shop, and when I do, I wanna shop in Peace. Never was a big shopper. All those people shoulder to shoulder, in that type of setting, is a headache and a royal eye twitch!!!! Have a peaceful day everyone.

Hello Dr. Sherry and Friends. Love the words today. Wow, lots of people out shopping since midnight last night and still going strong. I came home at 11:30 p.m., after my 4 Hour shift with a fund raiser for the shelter. Saw all those folks in line at the mall and yes, even "Best Buy" Dr. Sherry. waiting to bombard the doors at midnight. It was cool and pouring down rain. You would never catch me doing that ever! I agree with Oshkosh, I don't like to shop, never did, and would rather stay in my comfy home and do on-line shopping. For the most part the deals are as good and you are not fighting that crowd of frenzied people. Heh Heh Oshkosh, gives me a "royal eye twitch" also! I loved sleeping in today and sitting in my comfy home in my flannel PJs getting ready for breakfast of Chai tea.

Anyway, I hope each of you had a very nice Thanksgiving and found many things, like Dr. Sherry, to be thankful for as you counted your Blessings. I had a wondrous day! Was invited to my nephew and niece's new home for family dinner. Dr. Sherry, you know what my past years have been and this Thanksgiving was the absolute most bestest and awesome of a holiday in over 5 years. I was anxious for the day and had a grand and great time with family and good food. Making good memories. Sis and I are putting on Christmas Eve and the same Nephew and Niece have already made New Years Day celebration plans at their home for family. Seems like a very long time since I looked forward to the holidays and for this I am grateful! Okay, I am just too wordy today so going to run. Will be leaving for the shelter in a few hours and praying we will find forever homes for our precious animals waiting.
Weather was so nice yesterday, in the 60s and very warm, until last night and the cold front and rain moved in. In the 30s now and going down. May have snow flurries the days ahead - Eeeks!.

Take care friends, have a grand day after Thanksgiving. I hope it is a peaceful day for you indeed. /Sandy♥

I'm so far behind I gonna comment twice---might help my drag butt. I forgot to mention something about the Wal Mart deal---Here I go--"back in the day" story--but when a person is hired by Wal Mart they tell you about they are open on holidays. Back in the wonderful 70's---Sam Walton would stop at the McAlester Wal Mart with his hunting clothes on --- on his way to his annual hunting trip in the area. I, along with my life long friend, and other employees, had the honor of walking the aisles with Sam while he discussed with us what we thought about doing this display this way, and that display that way, and on and on. Mr. Walton was such a gracious, down home man who oozed integrity. When we knew Sam was coming, we were excited and anticipated his visit. He was a man who made you "Want To" work for him. If you forgot to put on that name tag, (the one you took off so you could wash that dreaded smock, we all hated) he would first tell you that your smock looked clean and fresh, and then would very graciously say, "we have too many employees, and turn over, to get your names monogrammed on those wonderful smocks that you all love, so we just gave you name tags to pin on. Left hands would slowly find the left shoulder, and check to see if we had our name tag on, or had forgotten it. Sam Walton is a legacy, along with the Empire he built.

hellooooo,
so happy to hear everyone felt much better and had a great Thanksgiving.. I'm with you on this black friday madness,
returning home last evening and seeing the lots of stores jammed packed, and lines around the buildings... just had to shake my head and wonder aloud " am I missing something here ".. then on the late news, stories of fist fights, elbow poking and stories of
the atrocious side of human nature rearing it's ugly head.. still
don't quite get it but I suppose that's what makes the world turn, and to each his own..you wouldn't ever find me in the stores that's for sure.. today, another beautiful sunshine filled day , that chill in the morning air, giving me the boost to take it all
in , apreciate and reflect..
Wishing for all a day of rest and
relaxation.. it's always fun to come here and hear what y'all have been up to ..
hugging my angels, sign me ♥ A.

AMEN TO ALL ABOVE. I AM AN EASY CHAIR SHOPPER MYSELF. WHETHER IT IS BLACK FRIDAY OR NOT. WHY WOULD I GO OUT AND FACE ALL THOSE ANGRY PEOPLE WHEN I COULD STAY HOME AND WAIT ON DR. SHERRY'S MOM ALL DAY. AFTER NOT SEEING DR. SHERRY OR HER MOTHER FOR AT LEAST 35 YEARS I WILL SERVE EITHER OF THEM BREAKFAST IN BED ANY DAY ANY TIME. I'M SO HAPPY SHE IS VISITING ME THIS GLORIOUS THANKSGIVING DAY AND DAYS TO FOLLOW. I DID NOT KNOW SHE WOULD COME INTO MY LIFE AGAIN AFTER SO MANY YEARS SO SPENDING TIME WITH HER IS A TRUE BLESSING. DR. SHERRY I DIDN'T KNOW SHE WOULD TAKE OVER MY EASY CHAIR, MY BED AND DEMAND I WAIT ON HER HAND AND FOOD BUT I LOVE IT. WE'VE LAUGHED, CRIED OF LOVELY DAYS PAST NOW WE HAVE A FUTURE TOGETHER ONCE AGAIN. WHAT A GREAT LIFE I HAVE. LOOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING YOU SHERRY BERRY.

Hello Dr. Sherry and friends. So good to see our new friend Dottie and I am happy to know that two old friends Dot and Dottie have gotten together again. So glad to see you "A" I think of you often and our friends from the past and wish everyone well. Just got home from the shelter and no adoptions today! We did have two applicants, both for dogs and one person was to come in and adopt one of our grand cats but she never came. That was upsetting as we had hoped that "Eldon" would be in his new forever home today. It is cold, cloudy and snow flurries again here today in SE Michigan. Take care friends and I hope Dr. Sherry is enjoying her Saturday and all is well. /Sandy♥
