Just thinking about Oklahoma

This morning as I watched these 4 leggeds dance around the pool and then break into their NASCAR run, I found myself thinking once again about Oklahoma pride, after devastation, about resilience. I remembered the news of the storms as they headed to Oklahoma, remembered how quickly regular folks with regular lives were torn apart and towns uprooted and turned upside down, lives lost and now people looking through the rubble for that treasured thing that makes them jump with joy once found.

*My prayers are with Pop Springs and his family today; as they are grieving the sudden and tragic loss of his neice and her child. Please pause and send healing energy to his Dear Brother John Keys and his Wife Frances Keys and their Family. Their Daughter Toykia K. Keys and their Grand-Son Kamany Love have been reunited with the Creator yesterday morning in a serious vehicle accident.*
Pop I am thinking of you all up there in Hampton VA, may the Creator watch over all of you...

The resilience of the human spirit, the many who are travelling miles to lend a hand to others and the donations that are coming from far and wide remind me that there is goodness in our world, on our soils and in the hearts of our brothers and sisters.  Look for the good I keep telling others and myself, just look for the helpers and oh what helpers there are all over the place.

Moments afterward we heard of OKC Thunder and Kevin Durant coming forward with his million dollars, the NBA with their matching that, and other players jumping not on the ball but in the fields of OK... Blake Shelton, Trace Adkins of country music and Reba McIntrye all calling OK home, and all jumping in with millions to help and songs to sing along with the players, the ones who are standing strong along with regular folks gathering with those who are making a difference...

And you can't help but wonder, all of this before ever hearing of a FEMA truck, all of this and still not a word from the wealthiest of the wealth the Donald Trumps of the world who could easily dip into pocket change in ways that will make huge differences for so many...

Yet the sports world, the country music world are out in force, regular folks are gathering from Sandy Hook to Pulaski Va where cuz Angie and Pulaski Health and Rehab are gathering from folks in New River Valley and will join with trucks who are Gleaning for the World and will roll into Oklahoma with stuff that is needed...

We are united in times like this, in times like Memorial Weekend where riders of Rolling thunder in Arkansas made a detour on their way to DC and ended up in OK to stand the line of protection at the funeral of a little one and to let Westboro Baptist church know; "OKLAHOMA does not want nor will tolerate your disrespect"... Folks showed up and showed out in hundreds to protect the line, and honor the fallen, the families and friends against hate and stupid.

That's just how we roll on this soil, as Oklahoma stands strong...

As the tide rolls, jump the wave or ride, it is your day.

Thank you for your kind thoughts and support for Oklahoma. Don't think I fully realized how strong a state it is till now. All the other states who are sending their help just boggles my mind. Makes it easy to see the good in the face of tragedy. Wonderful,, and humbles the spirit.
