"FAIRWAY HAS A HEART"~Loving Tammy Stansell In Palm Harbor 2/13/2010

Tammy Stansell
Tarpon Springs FL Native
"A Warrior, A Wife, A Mother, A Friend"

Tammy has Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC); the most aggressive and painful of Breast Cancers there is. She has most recently been in Texas receiving treatment, now on her way home where on Saturday the 13th many will gather in Palm Harbor Florida to embrace her, to rally once again as a benefit is held at a local and most popular spot:
Fairway Pizza and Sports Pub will host the 2nd Annual
"Fairway Has A Heart" For Tammy Stansell Event. The day will begin with those early to rise and tee off at the famous and lovely Innisbrook for a Golf Tournament benefiting Tammy. And then the day kicks off at Fairway at 11AM and will rock until 11PM for those with a strong will and strong heart ~ ~ ~ and I'm sure there will many that will stay from open to close!

There will be live entertainment; those playin' their hearts out for Tammy and all that will be there, bet the music will be fantastic; the food great (which I know for a fact is awesome), raffles, silent auctions, fun for the kiddies, and all sorts of wonderful stuff. People and laughter will fill the place and probably fall onto the winds as well as into the parking areas during the day and night as old and new friends meet and hug and greet, celebrating Tammy and each other.

Why, there will even be a local author there signing her books! YOU GUESSED IT ~~~ Yep, I'll be there around 4pm signing copies of Healing Heartaches, Stories of Loss & Life, joining in the love for Tammy and donating a % of the proceeds to benefit Tammy's fight against IBC, with honor and pleasure.

The crowds will be there; they are coming to celebrate Tammy; to encourage her battle; to welcome her home and to wrap their hearts in hers. They are coming to give her strength as she continues the war against IBC, to offer her hope in healing, hope in the battle and hope for a cure. They will wear their warpaint and join with her in thoughts, hugs and healing heartaches... the community will let her know of their love for her, their respect for her and they will be inspired by the amazing grace that she continues to demonstrate through it all.

And on top of all of this... people will have the time of their lives! They will enjoy the day; the evening, the times with old friends and new ones they meet ~ ~ ~ And so it is good. Folks coming together to support one woman and her family in their decisions, their personal journey and their needs. It just doesn't get any better than this.
We are so blessed to see ordinary people rise to the occasion with extraordinary moments of unconditional love and positive regard in their care for each other. Tammy has let others know of her plan to be there on Saturday, wouldn't want to miss it she has said! She will come; she will be filled up with the love of friends, family and those she has yet to know. She will stay as long as possible and leave only when her body, mind and spirit says it is time to go. And she will feel restored, renewed and ready for battle. Wonder if Tammy has heard Dolly sing, "Eagle When She Flies"?

We will all have been blessed for the day, richer somehow by the experience. Tammy has a family that extends beyond her immediate one of spouse, parents, 3 kids, more friends than a person could probably count... she has a community, she has a Facebook of virtual family, a world of medical folks that care, a faith community who have probably got her on prayer lists across the world, and now... she has those reading this blogs and by Saturday's end she will have all who attended the event, and all that they will have shared it with. She will be ready to return to Texas for more treatments; she will have her warpaint on and be prepared to face the treatments; the pain, those awful things that often happen secondary to treatments and she will continue to pray for that one treatment that will allow her more time, that will allow her to heal and to be cured of this awful disease.
And we will pray with her and for a cure to Breast Cancer.
CANCER SUCKS...

The circle will have gotten wider and wider; the connections stronger and stronger, the interconnectedness more powerful. We are all in this together you know...

The message strong:
there is no shame in asking for what you need; no harm in gathering your resources, there is power in prayer, there are truly good people right around the corner, if your roof is leaking swallow your pride, ask someone to help fix it, do self-exams on your breasts often, did I mention touch and look at your BREASTS OFTEN, expect miracles, choose to thrive, defy gravity, laugh often, love like there is no tomorrow, dance in the rain, smile at strangers they may turn into friends!
AND remember to look in the mirror, remember the lines of Michael Jackson's song {Man In The Mirror}, and "Be The Change You Want To See, and start that change within".

There is wonderment in the world when seeing how the world and its people are capable of love and care when it comes to matters of the heart.

My heart is full as I prepare to join with others on Saturday. I'm sitting and thinking of my recent conversation with the manager at Fairway, Karen. Lovely woman; determined and friendly woman, makes me feel I've known her all my life! She is hoping for a wonderful turn-out for Tammy on Saturday. Karen is hoping for a miracle, for a cure for Tammy as well.

I am continually amazed at the resiliency of the human spirit and the generosity of people as I think of all those who are putting this event together for a woman, a mother, a friend and a warrior. God Bless you Tammy, your family, friends and all who love you ~

Want to know more? Want to get involved? Learn how you can help? Call Fairway Pizza in Palm Harbor FL 727-772-7060, ask to speak to Karen or anyone there about the event!
Thinking more globally? Check out the Pink Warriors and Lively SPIRITS and amazing folks and the walk for the cure possibilities & the many and varied ways you can get involved at: http:///www.komen.org

Let's be sure we end this dreadful/awful disease... Look at all that is being done on Susan G Komen's site, check out all you can learn about IBC... about Breast Cancer, learn about your risks. And take care of yourself.

To those that are fighting the fight, know you are not alone in this disease, know you are warriors and that you have a band of others nearby for support. Enlist them to walk beside you, to fight with you!

Send Tammy your thoughts and prayers, whet your breath on the wind Saturday as we join in Palm Harbor FL to celebrate a woman who is fighting the fight of her life with amazing grace and a steel resolve ~

Final note:

The snows continue to overwhelm many. Joan and Olivia are "over it" as the basement is leaking, the deck is over their shoulders and no way to shovel it off...
Lily and Cub are great in their den, the babe is moving around, squeeping and getting louder, It is very very cold in the den and surrounding areas there. The live cam is still running and Lily is showing her snout today!http://www.bear.org/ Lily now has over 79,000 fans on Facebook I might just add!!! I seem to be stuck at 524 in case you were wondering ~ haha

The cold is taking its toll on moods, backs, and overall misery it seems... so, take good care of yourselves wherever you are and whatever you are doing.

Walk Lightly and safely,

Walk In Beauty!

Sherry,

This was nice of you to do the blog on Tammy today. Tammy and I graduated from the grand ole "Tarpon Springs High School" together in 1975. She is a wonderful lady and is in the fight of her life. We all feel for her and are looking at her every word that she sends us on Facebook. We are all praying for her. I know many, many of her classmates are linked together praying for her each day.
Thanks for the blog today & Mathew & I hope to be there.

Fairway does have great pizza and they have generously donated when I asked for door prizes for fun-raisers.
I support Fairway Pizza and I do support all souls making their own medical decisions.
Some of us love pizza ( I do )
Some of us love to fight ( I do not )
Some of us refuse having our breasts squished, refuse breast ultra-sound, and refuse biopsies.
Loving Pizza is neither right or wrong...just a preference. So...should our medical decisions be.
Hope everyone has a wonderful time & hope lots of money is raised!
Pizza and Healing Heartaches are both winners!
PS. Hope to see some blogs in February about Red heart month. If cancer sucks....what about heart disease? Do you know how many die of heart disease?
