Finding Beauty

Rain Fell On My Hibiscus Today

Snowing in some parts of the country; brr cold weather has set in, winter's chill is in the air. Rains have settled in across sunny Florida and here this morning I sit with coffee in hand, sweats on!  Admiring the raindrops on the Hibiscus; beautiful I tell ya, just beautiful...

My dear friends Laura, Mitch and "Grandma" said so long to their Auntie Sharron who died peacefully yesterday morning; she had been waiting for just the right time I think. She had finished all that she had to do here, said her good-byes to loved ones; gave away prized possessions, stayed as long as she could basking in the love and conversations and joys that were hers right up until she had one foot in the next-place and one tiptoe here. Gently she left this world a better place leaving her mark on the hearts that she loved so, and quietly while the rest of her tribe was sleeping she went to be with her God with amazing grace. As they grieve her in the days and months ahead they also celebrate a woman who lived life to its fullest and left a rich legacy as each of them continue on. They will incorporate her life into the rich tapestry of their lives and include her in a way that keeps her alive within them... there is no death, just a change of worlds.

The holidays are here, ready or not! Folks have Christmas lights up on the outside; blow up things that look like "blobs" during the daytime hours but magically come to life at night! Santa, reindeer, and all sorts of elf like things amuse and delight. Oh alright some are annoyed beyond words by such displays ... but not me! I love to drive and look at all the twinkle and razzle and dazzle.  Where is that volume control and that "Grandma Got run over by a reindeer song"?  Now what more could you want for an entertaining evening... Load up the car; grab the kids, (don't have any kids? Grab the neighbors kids for an hour, they could use the break!) go and just ride around and look at the lights; listen to that holiday music that plays non-stop! You can hear traditional, gospel, rap, hip-hop, country, new-age, rock, Celtic, blues... you name it; Christmas has a song for it. Have fun; create a ritual; dance. In other words, step out of your routine and step into the holidays.

From grief to heartache to silliness to fun... to giving and to love and light and laughter; the dance of life is there and the world will keep moving with us joining or not. And no matter how dim our day looks one thing is certain; there are times when random acts of kindness can affect our inner feelings in a positive and healthy way. Random acts of kindness can allow us to step out of ourselves and into something greater than us if only for a short while and affect/infect the greater whole having an impact on so many others.

My Chiropractor is a wonderful and tender gifted man. His name is Kevin Gallagher and his practice is in Palm Harbor. He sees me often and he is excellent in his care. On December 8 he sees people at NO CHARGE and all they have to do is bring a new toy and place it under his Christmas tree for "Toys For Tots"! Talk about acts of kindness... This man works all day long caring for his patients . . . and they pay nothing for the care he provides them . . . they feel good because they are doing something for the kids . . . they feel good because they are receiving care from this wonderful doc . . . he feels good because they feel good  . . . he feels great because kids are receiving toys for the holidays . . .

Are you with me here???

WOW... body-mind-spirit connection

The gifts in times of sorrow, times of challenge, times of grief and gladness and great joy. We are all interconnected in our pain and in our pursuits of happiness. We are all related in the greater wheel of life. Balance and connection.

I wish you enough to find the beauty in the snowfall and the beauty in the rain... I wish you healing-ways along the journey

Thank you my dear friend for honoring my Auntie. She was an angel here on earth in so very many ways, and I'll nevet forget her beauty, inside and out, through and through. So many will miss her, but you're right, now her legacy begins through those who knew and loved her! She's just a breath away, and I thought I felt her touch my shoulder tonight during the Donelewega. I held it tight. Love you and your support as always, and all the books I've gotten for gifts! XO, Laura
