MS > BAKE SALE JAN 29, 2011

THE FACE OF
MS
Our beloved
Laura Roorda
great friend and "family"
We just happen to be having this
event to raise money to
CURE MS
in her honor
She has MS  but, [MS will Never Have Laura]
Not as Long as Laura has US!
MS SUCKS

Good morning morning
The Coffee is ready,
poured 2 cups
and
the little ones
are doing a happy dance
gearing up for a new week of
wonder!

Ready to start off this week
with your
HAPPY DANCE?

It's time...
To get in gear,
smile on
coffee poured
and
waiting for the sun to shine.

I hope you will find the time to look back to yesterdays' blog, those we are holding up
in thoughts and prayers.
The Warriors of this page, those who are being lifted up, those who are always being thought of
here on this page, and in the hearts of so many
who visit here.

I also hope you will take a few minutes to read the comments of those same warriors
those who are now
in preparation
for
January 29
the bake sale
TO RAISE MONIES
FOR THE CURE
OF
MS
Wanna face to put on this
God awful disease?
Start over and scroll up.
Take a look, take a good and long look
at
my dearest friend
and
a person we call family.
A WARRIOR SHE IS.
Laura Roorda
also a devoted and long time
Hospice employee
a devoted wife,
a mother
a grandmother
a loyal and devoted friend
who would give you the shirt off your back.
An avid gardener and boy oh boy
do the butterflies love her
and gather from caterpillars
to chrysalis's
to drying their wings
and then taking flight
surrounding her yard with great gratitude for all she is and all she does.
Yes
take a long look at this warrior
and know that she washes those cars as hard as those without MS, raising monies for
MS Research
while her daughter Shauna is out there in
Texas riding her butt off on a bicycle each year
in
The MS150
raising monies
to cure MS.

MS we are on you, we are coming on strong.
WE will cure this disease
and
Laura will be set free from those weekly
and painful
Interferon shots that make her sick
make her cry
give her a headache as big as the world.
She will not have to contemplate a surgery where someone walks with a scalpel in her brain,
and
those who love her will not have to think
of shaving their heads in solidarity of
what she will have gone through.

This Saturday
the
29th of January
is COB/Mom/The General's (aka) my Mom's
birthday
so we know this Saturday will be a great day.
This will be the day
for us to join
with a huge gathering
at Bethel Church on
McMullen Booth Road in Clearwater
and have a
fantastic bake sale
donating all the proceeds
to
MS RESEARCH
to cure
this terrible disease.
Laura's brother works for HOME DEPOT
and they have agreed to match all proceeds
that Laura is able to collect that day.

We have already had two (2) car washes;
one it was so hot that we thought we would faint by the time the day ended.
The first vehicle gave Laura a crisp
$100.00 bill!
The third vehicle wrote a check to Laura
for
$100.00.

The sun felt great that day!
That was held at
Tiffanys Family Restaurant
in
Palm Harbor

The second car wash
we froze in the morning hours, bundled up we were.
We thought we might have just lost our minds
and ached for the heat...
It was held at
"Steak N Shake" in Oldsmar
thanks to a Warrior of this page
the Mom of "Jaren" an angel now who left this life much too soon.
We laughed, we visited, we busted suds.
Laura worked and worked, then worked some more.
We were all weary at days end.
And
we were successful.

MS WE ARE COMING AFTER YOU.
We got a Warrior on YOU MS.
MAKE NO MISTAKE
OUR SITE IS ON
A CURE
WE HAVE A BEAD ON YOU
AND POWER BEHIND THE AIM.
Did you know that MS affects 400,000 people in the USA, and about 2.5 million people world-wide?
Did you know:
some are being misdiagnosed thinking they have a brain tumor, or just being told to relax or that
 "it's all in your head"?
Did you know:
some are being told to "just go home and wait for the next episode or next thing to happen so we can take more tests later"?
Can you imagine how frightening all of that is to so many?

Those folks with MS have an interesting array of symptoms...

Things like not being able to stand the heat...
Things like having a blasting headache that makes you unable to function or find your words.
Things like those zillion neurotransmitters getting tangled like spaghetti noodles with frays in the sheathing sending out wrong messages at the wrong time at warp speed.
Warrior Laura out there in the heat washing cars, or out there just acting as if all is okie dokie, hoping and praying it will pass quickly
hoping it is not a "flare" and "whatever this is" that it will just pass in quickly this time.
She continually amazes me with her tenacity of purpose in living her best life, and live she does,
with great zest and gusto in all phases of her life.

Other things that may happen with MS:

Fatigue, numbness, walking, balances and coordination problems; dizziness, vertigo, optic neuritis, "changing tracks on conversations quicker than you can say [snap]!
(Laura had that last year and OMG... that was scary)...
But we sorta figure:
A bake sale should be in fact a "cake walk" compared to the car washes I'm thinking!

Probably silly thinking, but that is what I've chosen to think at this point!
Through humor, you can soften some of the worst blows that life delivers. And once you find laughter, no matter how painful your situation might be, you can survive it.
Bill Cosby

Humor comes in to play with life, with sadness, with sorrow, with any and all of life's situations. It too comes in to play loudly when living with MS.
And through many a tear, we have laughed and we will continue to laugh right up and through the cure
of this disease.
The Cure will be found
and
it will be
SOON.

"75% of those with MS are women"

"In the United States women develop MS at approximately twice the rate men do, and no one can explain why women are affected most often from the waist down." Annette Funicello

THE TIME IS NOW
TO CURE
MS
Every little action can lead to great results:
Saturday a bake sale, last year car washes,
Montel doing great things, others as well.
Touch one, reach one, and so it goes.
In your yard, sitting at your desk...
There is no limit as to what we can do
together.
STOMP
Look again at Laura;
she is your sister, your Mother, your friend
our Warrior here.
Ready to start your week
with a sense of purpose
of mindfulness
with
intention.

I thought so,
Blessings to all
and the smell of goodies fill the air
after all
everyone loves to give gifts of goodies
even if not eating them ~

After all, folks do love to snicky snacky or to pass them to others along the day!
We have warriors already filling their homes with great smells and creativity ~ Something for everyone it is sounding like.
Sweets/sugar free but sounds deliciously sinful anyway
kind of treats.
Rumor has it
Laura is going to fix up one of her fantastic
butterfly plants for a raffle
while
DLB plans
to make a silk floral arrangement for raffle as well.
Now I have to tell you,
I've seen both do both
and they are
OUTSTANDING.
So,
on Mom's birthday
at Bethel Church
the crowds will come
and
we will be there and be ready.
We will have on our best smiles to meet and greet
and
to make a lotta of dough
for
MS research
in honor
of Laura
and the many many others
who are walking with this disease
being newly diagnosed with this disease.
MS
WE HAVE YOU
IN OUR SITES
WE
HAVE A BEAD ON YOU
AND
WE ARE GOING TO RUN YOU OUT OF THIS WORLD OF OURS.

THIS IS THE FACE
OF
MS
WHEN YOU ARE
HISTORY

THIS IS THE FACE OF MS

We will hopefully see old friends, make new ones SELLING BAKED GOODIES,
and make lots of money while helping Laura and Shawna make their goal of reaching that $11,111 this year!

I'm thinking they will do it, they are pretty remarkable...
And
after all
it is 2011
so
I figure might as well shoot for all those 1's
how bout you?
YOU can send a check to
Laura Roorda
to help
it will be doubled by her brother at HOME DEPOT
remember
for how to do that.
STOMP
Every single dollar counts.
Every warrior and visitor here counts, tell someone else
touch one, reach many.

Yep, we are doing it January 29th, we will gather, we will spread the word, we will sell those goodies
and
folks will meet the "face of MS" face to face.
And many of you here probably know someone
with this disease.
Not so long ago someone commented that we should have a country wide "MS Bake Sale" on a certain date, I think it a great idea...
A Virtual Bake sale
that would be held in small and large communities of gathering with monies raised for MS research and
get rid of this once and for all
QUICKLY.
Perhaps Oprah can even get on board!
Wonder if she got Healing Heartaches yet?
Has anyone heard from her???
I haven't but then again, I've been in PA
and just now beginning to rest up
so I can leave for MD!
Oh OPRAH>???
We need you now!

BUT
for today,
let's get the word out
MS SUCKS
Maybe Montel can swing down to Florida with his new
"juicer machine" and sing us success
and bring
Syliva along for some good vibrations
as
we make
Laura proud
and folks just eat themselves silly
buying up all our goodies on Saturday.
Of course,
Laura is busy too; she is cooking goodies and working at Hospice this week in addition to all that, having had that awful shot this weekend
she will be ready
she will
STOMP
on Saturday
and
MS you might as well tuck and run.
We are on you
and we will not STOP.
We will try and take care of her along the way,
but
she is a Warrior and a stubborn Warrior at that.
We will wear our Warpaint and we will still laugh like little kids during it all.
AND, I will get to buy and eat brownies and cookies and who knows what else!
Ah,
thought you would like to know this...
The

FDA has approved a pill form of therapy... but its long term effect is not yet proven. But huge things are happening thanks to a trial from Dr Paolo Zamoni of Italy, who thinks that excess Iron may be a possible cause of MS.
USF is hoping to start their own study soon, and Laura's neurologist hopes to lead it... they are looking for a complete CURE as opposed to an ongoing treatment of symptoms involving needles ... Laura HATES needles...

She may just be one of those that is his first to get that cure thanks to you out there reading this... and those that get their home made sweets at the bake sale!
April is Shawna's next ride... she is currently training with spin classes... preparing, devoted and continues to challenge her mom... gotta buck or two?

"We're here for a reason. I believe a bit of the reason is to throw little torches out to lead people through the dark." Whoopi Goldberg

The fire is burning brightly and its embers are hot...

Thoughts on the wind, hope in the air and to many are fighting struggles...
today we remember and honor and think about them.
For many who have had that incredible break-through they have worked and searched a life time for, we celebrate for and with them as well!

That is the hope
in
Healing Heartaches

Walk In Beauty,
DRSES

helloooo, I am sure ready to "dance on my desk".. lol..
which is buried in "to do " paperwork, and that's okay with me.. Attitude is ON, STOMP in place,
and I can hardly wait for the upcoming bake sale.
I'm thinking that BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH
MCMULLEN BOOTH ROAD
(across from the fire station)
will see a successful will experience a successful
spring bazzarre like never before, with all of the
visitors who will be out to participate in the bake sale of the year !!! Laura , you rock, and
we are all here to help in whatever way we can !!
MS is a great cause to support, no doubt about it ! Warriors united, now, that's awesome...
baking.. spread the word..Pay it forward today and everyday, you never know when it will be your turn to be the one in need.. it just feels great to help
others.. I know, personally, healing my grief has
been made easier by giving of myself, and although I wish there were more I could do, the
practice of a daily random act of kindness makes
my heart glow with love....
STOMP into the week.. have a smile handy..
sign me, thankful for all which I have,
hugging my angel,
A.
Have a great week everyone, and keep the ovens

Look.... squirrel! Happiest of all birhtdays COB...did anyone ever figure that COB thing out? I can't say much other than trying to prepare, but nearly started the microwave on fire with all the bags in it, by turning the microwave on instead of just the timer! Talk about frayed wires! Gonna go to bed and hope to make it right tomorrow...Stomp on my friends, be blessed, I am! Gonna ask you add a couple of precious people to our prayer list. Lorie C-that her tests come back okay and she will just need a couple of good massages to make her well,& Kenita who is fighting serious cancer. Now that SUCKS! Remember, everyone is fighting some kind of battle, but with a network of warriors like this, we all Stand, STOMP!

Hey to all, that smile on the cover girl at the beginning and the end of the blog will definetly STOMP out MS. What a great way to start the day with the picture of Ms. Laura just giving us all a lift on a dreary day. As the blogger above stated we are all fighting some kind of battle, some of them are self inflicted and could be settled, some are the things of life that is put upon a person and they will have to work thru their battles. The battle we concretrate on this week and daily is MS and Cancer. We are strong here and we are praying for all of those who are warriors helping with this great fund raiser. We are stomping together and we know that soon these illness will be stomped out. There are so many caring people out who will always lend a hand whether it be baking or moral support. There are some people who will just sit back and do nothing and whine that things dont get done. I am so glad to be apart of the ones who gets the job done. STOMP. Blessings to all. Remember our service friends and their families. God Bless the USA and all of the people working this weekend. Keep that smile going there poster girl. You rock.
