whew...don't we feel better now??? I know I do!

Did you know that the heart of the blue whale is about the size of a small car? Now how's that little fact for your morning to get your motor running??? LOL
BP...
RELIEF WELLS

Drilling crews were grinding ever deeper to build the relief wells that are the best hope of stopping the massive oil leak at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico. The crew of Transocean Ltd.'s Development Driller II finished pouring cement to firm up a section of metal casing lining one of two relief wells. BP and government officials say the wells are the best option for cutting off the gusher that has spilled as much as 125 million gallons into the Gulf since the Deepwater Horizon exploded.

Why exactly hasn't Transocean LTD been in front of the President yet, and why aren't they answering to their part of this???

OK, back to Monday... and back to STOMP.... now that your blood is flowing... I did remind everyone including me to exhale I hope by now.. and after reading the BP or phony baloney update, I know your blood is running through your veins, particularly after looking at our beautiful picture of the gulf here in sunny FL...

So, this morning I'm thinking about MS...
yep MS... and my dearest friend Laura here in Palm Harbor... Laura and Mitch our our family by choice, and dearest of friends...

Laura has MS... did I mention that MS sucks?  About 10,400 people were diagnosed with MS this past year...

And her daughter Shauna rides on a bike in Texas each year to raise awareness for MS and to raise money for the cure... Each year Laura flies there and follows, with baked goodies that 91 year old Grandma makes here in Florida and packages just "so" for Laura to take to Shauna for those breaks in between the gust winds, the 60 miles at a clip during rain/and all types of what tends to be God-awful weather on that particular weekend... and at the very end there is always standing Laura at the finish line, to welcome her and to thank her... and a tired but very accomplished Shawna hugs her Mom and is glad to have once again been in the top 300 of the riders for a Cure for MS... Did I mention... MS sucks?
So Laura is once again raising awareness, raising money... selling candy bars... talking about the yard sale we are all going to be roped into participating in this year... and now she tells me we might be having a "car wash" in Palm Harbor???
OH noooooooo.... I'm thinking... we are NOT teenagers anymore Laura and for heaven's sakes we don't have those little bodies to shake and make people pull to a screeching halt for us to wash their cars... What are you thinking???

So as I'm thinking we would be do better to have a plant sale... Laura is the queen of butterfly plants after all, all of hers are filled with caterpillars just waiting to turn into butterflies... People would buy them just in a SNAP! No sweat involved there I'm thinking!

A bake sale... I happen to know a fierce baker, The delivery of home made muffins were delivered past 9pm last night to Laura... Laura happens to work at Hospice and HOSPICE PEOPLE LOVE i MEAN LOVE TO EAT~~~ Now that is a plan right???  Bet they will be eating good this morning!!! Fresh blue berry muffins, banana nut muffins, and who knows what else?

Are ya feeling me here??? On A Monday morning?

OK, so here I'm thinking ... this is a page of warriors right, so let's get them involved in this too!!!

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most common neurological disorder diagnosed in young adults. Its causes are not yet fully understood and researchers continue to search for answers. MS is not contagious and does not shorten the life expectancy of those who are diagnosed with the disease. Although the disease may not be cured or prevented at this time, treatments are available to reduce severity and delay progression.

MS is a disease of the central nervous system (CNS). The CNS consists of the brain, optic nerves and spinal cord. This disorder damages the protective insulation (known as "myelin") surrounding the nerves (known as "axons"), and may also damage theses nerves within the CNS. As a result, nerve impulses carrying messages from the brain and spinal cord may short circuit, causing reduced or lost bodily function.

The effects of MS differ with each individual. Some people experience symptoms for a short period of time and afterward may remain symptom-free for periods or months or years. While others may experience a more steady progression of the disease.

Most researchers believe MS is an "autoimmune disease" -- one in which white blood cells, meant to fight infection or disease, are misguided to target and attack the body's own cells. This attack causes inflammation in the CNS, which may damage the myelin and ultimately injure the nerves.

Areas of inflammation are known as “lesions” or “plaques.” The changes in size, number, and location of these lesions may determine the type and severity of symptoms. Frequently, however, MS may be “clinically silent,” showing no increase in symptoms while continuing to show signs of disease activity within the CNS.

Additionally, areas of thick scar tissue may eventually form along the areas of damaged myelin. The term “multiple sclerosis” originates from the discovery of these hardened plaques. Multiple refers to many; sclerosis refers to scars.

Researchers have studied a variety of possible causes for MS, and a combination of factors appears to be involved. A popular theory looks at commonly known slow-acting viruses (one that could remain dormant for many years), such as measles, herpes, human T-cell lymphoma, and Epstein-Barr. After being exposed to one of these viruses, some researchers theorize that MS may develop in genetically susceptible people. Research to identify the specific genes involved in MS is also ongoing

Shawna (Laura's daughter) has 7,522 miles on her bike... that is miles she has rode on her bike and training miles... MILES SHE HAS CYCLED FOR A CURE FOR MS... ok, let me say this another way... This young woman has put her butt on a bike in spin 230 classes since 2005... 10 miles per class since her first MS150 ride in 2005!

She has raised $37,790 in money... riding a bike against amazing rains, winds, and amazing storms against the wind, the odds... knowing her mom would be standing there... Waiting for a Cure and waiting for her to ride right to the finish... through hell and high water to see her Mom and hear her screams of "that's my daughter"!

So there you go... a short overview of MS, of our Warrior Laura and her daughter Shawna...
Did I mention???
Oh by now I'm sure you know. ....MS SUCKS
"Brain scans,INteron shots when you are a needle phobic that give you nausea, dizziness, and all over terrible feelings every freaking week, vertigo, optic neuritis, tingling hands, unsteady on your feet, hot, did i mention gettin hot and weak as a kitten, hey I've squatted to get a pot and I can't get up, Now what was I thinking???"

And yet, you don't tell folks how bad it is when you are a warrior, you just get up and get going... well unless you need to tell them to help ya get up that is!

So Laura and millions of others are Living with MS, having been diagnosed with this disease. As for Laura?
She may have MS... BUT... AND THIS IMPORTANT...
MS DOES NOT HAVE HER... and it will never have her as long as we are around...

So, we are going to be creative in helping her find ways to raise awareness and money for a cure... Heaven help me if we have to have this daggone car wash on Sunday... please let us find another way??!!!! heehe

Laura's brother works at Home Depot and for the rest of the month (which is not much time) they are matching any contributions that come in... cash donations, check form made to the order of                          Laura Roorda

 Isn't that wonderful?

So: If you can help I'm asking today...
$1, $2, $3, $4, $5, $10,$20,$30, $20,000.... whatever and however you can help.... Remember me saying there is NO shame in asking for what ya need? Well, I'm askin now...

Oh did you know that the TONGUE of a blue whale is as long as an elephant??? Now ain't that something? heehe

So here you are on a Monday, if you can help:

Let me know; and you can also visit Tiffany's Restaurant in
Palm Harbor for a great meal and then purchase a candy bar from the new papa Paul Hittos! He's selling candy bars to raise monies for MS awareness for a cure for Laura there!

Or if you want to send a check out: you can do that as well.
send me an email: info@drsherryeshowalter.com
and I'll send you the address to mail it... payable to : Laura Roorda so that the amount will be matched at HOme depot.
Hurry so that we can get it matched by Home Depot those generous folks.

DAnce into your day my friends,

The fire is burning brightly ... its embers are hot, sending thoughts on the wind to those of you in need of strength, of hope in healing ways... you know who you are... you are not alone... We are warriors here, warpaint on...

Doug Weddleton a very special man in New England has died tragically leaving behind a devoted and loving wife Judy, his children and far too many friends to count, along with his fellow warriors in the police department that he dedicated his life to... My deepest sympathies to all in New England as they struggle to make sense of this tragic loss of a life, loss of a dedicated and loving warrior gone too soon... May you find comfort in knowing that he now soars with the Eagles and may knowing that give you the strength to "look up" in awe and reverence as the day of honoring him nears, knowing that he too is near... only a breath away. We are with you in thoughts/prayers/our arms are around you all there ... "Look UP" he is with you always, on the wings of the eagle watching over you.

HAPPY SUMMER TO ALL, but it's " summer " all year, here in hot-hot-hot- FLA.
MS sucks, count me in, Laura, I will donate to the cause. How 'bout an orange-cranberry muffin for me ? Car wash in this HEAT, with this 55 + body, nah, I'll pass on that event.
I will canvas my neighbor and friends for a donation to MY donation, too.
Dr. SES, keep up the good work, reaching out and caring for causes close to our hearts.
Great weekend past us now, have a good week.

I'm in on the car wash. Will be there Snday morning to scrub and dry. Will even pay to wash my own car. Am ecruiting some muscle to help wash. Thanks to Paul of Tiffanys Resturant for the space and support. Let's all come out and pitch in to help fund the research for the cure to MS. When you know and love someone who fights the disease daily, it's easy to want to do what you can to support the cause. I look forward to all you locals coming out. If you can't volunteer, drop by and get that dusty roadster washed, or drop off a donation. We put a jar up in the breakroom at work to hopefully add to the collection this week. Anyone else work in an office where they could get away with a jar?
Hey doc, thnaks for the infoon the Blue Whales. Big as a car and long as an Elephant. Where DO you get all this juicey news?
Best wek to all.

OK-I'll bring my car in for a wash and tell fam & friends to bring their cars in too--I'm all over it--for Laura I'll do what I can. Me & suds tho--I might scare away people rather that entice them...
But I will be there on Saturday.
As for Laura's daughter, what a fantastic person! STOMP!

Laura says Wado...My heart fills every year, as the excitment starts and the pressure mounts, like I'm the one on the bike! You my friend are so right about the butt on a bike, and all those miles! Shawna amazes me every single year! The MS 150 is really more like 170, where Lance Armstrong grew up and trained, and 12,999 other (registered) bicyclists. Yes, Shawna rode with #145 this year, not the number she registered in, but the "place" she took in fundraising for the 17 Million Dollar goal the largest MS ride in the country has it's eyes set on. She is in the 300 Club because she is one of the top 300 fundraisers for this incredible event! So yeah, I'll do whatever I can, and I do have a habit of volundrafting my family and friends who would like to see the end of this mysterious disease! It IS after all my hope for the future free from MS! So thanks to all, MS does suck, but attitude IS everything! We're gonna keep on keepin on! I AM grateful!
