SPEAKING OF GRATITUDE

Navy Petty Officer,
"MIKE MONSOOR"
April 5th, 1981 ~ September 29th, 2009
UNITED STATES NAVY SEAL
PO2
(Petty Officer, Second Class)
EOD2
(Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Second Class)

Good morning.
Blessed Morning.
Thankful Morning for and to all who gather here.

A story that I hope will gather in your nervous system; a story I hope you will share with all you see today, tomorrow and the many days you are blessed to live in gratitude and amazing grace.
My dear friend, Pam Cudahy has a son who is a Navy Seal... A young man who I last saw in a "Johnny Jump up"... and oh how he could jump up toward the ceiling! Curling his toes on the mantle to push off to gain even more momentum as he soared and jumped and laughed...
Now grown, serving this great Nation of ours, a
Proud Navy Seal.

Mike Monsoor, a Warrior, a hero, someone's son,
brother, friend...

Was Awarded "The Congressional Medal Of Honor" Last Week ~

For Giving His Life In Iraq , As He Jumped On, And Covered With His Body, A Live Hand Grenade,

Saving The Lives Of A Large Group Of Navy Seals That Was Passing By

During Mike Monsoor's Funeral, At Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery , In San Diego , California ..

The Six Pallbearers Removed The Rosewood Casket From The Hearse, And Lined Up On Each Side Of Mike Monsoor's Casket, Were His Family Members, Friends, Fellow Sailors, And Well-wishers.

The Column Of People Continued From The Hearse, All The Way To The Grave Site.
What The Group Didn't Know At The Time Was, Every Navy Seal (45 To Be Exact) That Mike Monsoor Saved That Day Was Scattered Through-Out The Column!

As The Pallbearers Carried The Rosewood Casket Down The Column Of People To The Grave Side.
The Column Would Collapse..
Which Formed A Group Of People That Followed Behind.

Every Time The Rosewood Casket Passed A Navy Seal, He Would Remove His Gold Trident Pin From His Uniform, And Slap It Down Hard, Causing The Gold Trident Pin To Embed Itself  Into The Top Of The Wooden Casket!

Then The Navy Seal Would Step Back From The Column, And Salute

Now For Those, Who Don't Know What A Trident Pin Is,

Here Is The Definition: ~

After One Completes The Basic Navy Seals Program Which Lasts For Three Weeks, And Is Followed By Seal Qualification Training, Which Is 15 More Weeks Of Training, Necessary To Continue Improving Basic Skills And To Learn New Tactics And Techniques, Required For An Assignment To A Navy Seal Platoon.

After successful completion, Trainees Are Given Their Naval Enlisted Code, And Are Awarded The Navy Seal Trident Pin.

With This Gold Pin They Are Now Officially Navy Seals!

It Was Said, That You Could Hear Each Of The 45 Slaps From Across The Cemetery!

By The Time The Rosewood Casket Reached The Grave Site, It Looked As Though It Had A Gold Inlay From The 45 Trident Pins That Lined The Top!
This Was A Fitting End To An Eternal Send-Off For A Warrior Hero!

Mike... may you dance in the lights of heaven little brother, soar on the wings of Eagles as you watch over your family; your brothers and sister Seals ~ Knowing that you will always be remembered with love and great gratitude from those who thank you ... while we and Rolling Thunder rolls always for and with you all...

We Will NEVER FORGET...

Wherever you are and whatever you are doing... Do it with all that you are, with all that you can be... When you allow yourself the luxury of thinking "I can't" remember Mike and know that you "can, you must" be all that you are capable of ... with grace and gratitude.

The fire is burning brightly this morning, its embers are hot... The message is powerful, as are the thoughts on the wind for those who know who they are ... You've read their names, you are in the presence of some powerful warriors here and in the next place.

Good Morning and lets celebrate Mike being an Angel watching over all of us. I cried when I read his story. What a brave young man and there are so many brave men and women giving their life for our Country. We live in a great and beautiful Country. There are lots of young men and women here and everywhere that should be serving their Country. Some of them are wasting their life on the street and with drugs ruining our Country they could be helping the other soldiers win this war. I personally wish they would all come home. Shake hands with any and all military this weekend and anytime you see them. Their sacrifice is great for all of us. Happy 4th. of July and remember Every Day IS A Gift.

Once, again, A GREAT BLOG, bringing tears and heart felt tugging for the fallen soldier.
The photo with 45 pins, quite impressive and moving. We must remember all active & gone.
Wear your American Flag pins, display it, be proud. Nuff said................

Wonderful, powerful, sorrowful, and honorable blog today. My thoughts are now focused on my own sweet little 86 year old Mom who suffered a mini stroke Tuesday night. My sister and I drove 2 hrs to where they live and helped Dad get her to the Dr. She is home and doing 100% better. My Dad is almost 89. Please lift both of them up. We are beginning to see the decline of two beautiful people who've known one another for 80 years and have been married 65 years.

Firemen, Policemen and the Military make little to do what they are "called" to do and we never appreciate these folks until we dial 911 or go to war. I challenge each of you to do something for these folks in your own neighborhoods. Send cookies, order some pizzas, take BBQ, send a note. Let those that serve and offer their lives daily know they are remembered. What is 20 bucks to you??? Go on...get busy!!
