Won't YOU STAND

BRAVEHEART
The North American Black Bear

Coffee time
Sun is Shining,
it's time to dance on some desks
I'm thinkin
and
let your voices be heard
no matter where you live.
Good morning my dear warriors!

Hope you had a sterling week-end.

That photo is of
BRAVEHEART
out there in Ely MN
and those fantastic collared and brightly
ribboned research bears need humans across the globe
to
STAND UP
to
STOMP
for them now more than ever.
And
as I always call upon the warriors here
to lend a hand when hands and hearts are needed the
most
I am asking
for help.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources
(DNR)out there in Ely MN Commissioner officially refused to make a ruling to protect valuable
radio-collared research bears from being hunted.
1.The DNR asking hunters not to shoot radio-collared bears has not worked. The Wildlife Research Institute has lost 6 radio-collared research bears since 2005—including two in 2010.He (the one who makes those monumental decisions)suggested the North American Bear Center and those advocating for protection of the Black Bears seek legal protection in the legislature.

So now it is necessary to take it a step or many steps
further
time to appeal to legislature to
PROTECT THESE NORTH AMERICAN BLACK BEARS
from the upcoming hunt season.
It is remarkable to me
that the DNR would not support this need since they also lost tagged bears that they were also doing research on for generations to come!
WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?

There are more than 20,000 bears in Minnesota
but only a few that are a part of this valuable research ongoing by Dr Lynn Rogers
of
the North American Bear Center

Last hunt season there were volunteers ready to sign up to walk the vast forests and woods with those brightly collared bears to try and ensure their safety,
there were unfortunately
bears killed by unethical hunters
anyway.
Tensions mounted, ugliness and hateful words spewed
but none of that helped the fact that years of
research
and trust between human and bears were lost forever
more.

Fences were attempted to mended between parties
ethical hunters took a stand
and people from across the globe stood up
letters and campaigns began with letters to
those in power in Ely MN and in offices of power
asking politely with documentation
to make a stand.
PROTECT THE RADIO COLLARED
AND
BRIGHTLY RIBBONED
NORTH AMERICAN BLACK BEARS
OF
ELY MN
But yet,
the DNR has ruled against it
and
offered suggestion to take it to legislature
so
take it to legislature, to the press, to the
white house we will.
AND
warriors you can help.
Touch one, reach one
reach many.

It will guide you to a petition you can sign,
give you talking points to letters you can write,
will give you addresses and emails of those to send your letters to.
All of this,
YOU can do
and
say
"I helped to take a STAND
for the North American Black Bear"
While you are on that page,
you can also find your way to the den
and see that remarkable
Lily who gave the world HOPE
and meet
cubbies Jason and Faith!
Be amazed at their sounds of humanness
and their antics in that den
as well.
Education abounds there
on what the first Americans have always revered
The North American Black Bear
their ways, their healing powers, their gentleness
that has been twisted in "Hollywood" and in myths.

They need us
to
Stand by them
We are talking a few
bears here,
not 50, not 100, not 1000.
There are plenty of Bears out there in the woods of
MN for ethical hunters who hunt bears during
hunt season, who use all they hunt
in ethical ways, thinking that maybe they could focus
on those 15-20,000 adults if they choose to hunt
and
just stay away from
these of Ely shouldn't be so hard...
Better yet,
how bout banning hunting all together around
the NABC areas
where the
North American Black Bears live
just to be sure of their safety?

We are talking about bears that are brightly colored
radio collared
bears that ethical hunters would never ever dream
of pulling the trigger on,
so I can't help but wonder
why in the world
would the commissioner of the DNR
be making this so hard
to do the right thing out there in
Ely MN.
The brain loves consistency:
So,
let's get a law passed and make the message consistent to all. And throw some hefty fines at those who do not think it serious to not pay attention.

Interestingly
Dr Lynn Rogers is a brilliant researcher and his colleague Sue Mansfield
they have showed the world the world of
The North American Black Bears
along with the town of
Ely MN.
As a result?
People have together banded and brought more money into that little town
than one can fathom over the last year
with the exposure of Facebook, of word of mouth
and with
care of the North American Black Bear.
Ely MN
and the DNR one would think would step outside of
their "comfort zone"
and tradition
to embrace change
to welcome the efforts of all
in education, research, protection of the
North American Black Bears
for generations to come,
while recognizing
that when you enlist the help
of warriors
with gentle spirit
"there is no stopping them"

STOMP

The fire is burning brightly, its embers are hot
sending thoughts on the wind to all who gather here,
and
Standing by and for
The North American Black Bear
I HOPE
you will join me,

Walk In Beauty,
DRSES

For years, the MN DNR has asked hunters not to shoot radio-collared bears but told them it is legal to do so. This mixed message puts ethical hunters at an unfair disadvantage. Too often, ethical hunters who pass up radio-collared trophies hear them shot at neighboring bait piles. Frustrated, they tell us, "If you don’t want radio-collared bears shot, make it illegal!"
